Pulling his own man down so he couldn't clear the ball is something we never saw from even Jones or Smalling. Single most bizarre defensive moment this decade
I was rolling on the floor.

Why, just why is he pulling Shaw? Shaw then overcompensate and falls backwards. So stressed out.
because he is just not there mentally at the moment! must be that Greece thing. (Just like Paul is not there mentally - it must be Covid)

He was horseshit and couldn't marshal anything today. He should sit out the stupid England internationals and stay out of the firing line for the next couple of weeks.

Needs to seriously look himself in the mirror and pull his head out of his fecking arse and man up. You're the fecking captain of this club, you should be ashamed and embarrassed beyond belief. You fecking knobhead slabhead.

Step the feck up and knuckle down!

Horrible performance. I like the guy and think he has been good, but this was awful.

This moment deserves to be immortalized. Maybe he was still drunk

Thanks, I needed a good laugh. This is priceless. Shaw complained like hell to the ref at the goal. And he was right, he was fouled - by Harry Maguire.

What was his excuse against Bournemouth et al. towards the end of last season? The mans been a horrendous distribution of funds & the excuses need to stop.

He is far from the worst defender but he’s been championed on here as a ‘massive improvement’ on his predecessors which is patently untrue.

He has A LOT of improving to do.
5 errors in a 38 match season which u played 90 minutes in every game is never a bad return for any defender.

Now my most hated United player of all time. feck this waste man. He's the worst big name defender we have EVER had.

Can't even call him a flop, I never rated him to begin with. Get rid of this clown even if it's for 20m. Take the loss and learn from mistakes.

Among the many, many other issues...

He has a fundamental flaw in his heading technique. Firstly he can't jump. That's clear...despite that he does win a good amount of headers, purely down to sheer size and strength - but he can't direct them in any way. His heading technique is appalling. At the start of the second half he had 3 straight unpressured headers directly to the opposition.

Statistically he was bottom 5% in the entire league last season for heading accuracy in his own half. Bottom 10% for headed attempts at goal.

Today's attempt at a completely straightforward header back to De Gea was tragically bad.

Signing him for £80m will go down as one of the worst transfers the club has ever made. Making him captain, one of the worst decisions. If we could get £30m back next summer, with time to replace him, I'd take it in an absolute millisecond.

Football is quickly turning into Baseball for a number of fans. . .

But you’re right mate, he’s been outstanding & improved our defence immeasurably; a bargain at £80mil

Not intended as a slash job of Harry, but he should be benched for a few matches. He’s a decent CB but his head is all wrong and some time off would him and the club wonders.

Duped by a few buccaneering runs forward and aerial dominance.
?
How much have we spent on Rojo/Bailly/Lindelof/Maguire/Blind? £200 million?

Our best actual defender hasn't played for the club in over a year.

Comments I made in his performance thread last season could literally be transposed to here and be as relevant as they were then.

He's out of his depth and the CL is going to be absolutely brutal for him, and us.

80m. I just wanna cry but I don't feel the pain anymore.

:lol::lol:

And there were people in the match day squad trying to blame Bailly for the first goal. Maguire heads it into his face, then scuffs a easy head back to DDG and then pulls Shaw down. How blinkered do you need to be to try and blame anyone else in that situation?

He is a Fellini type of player. He will have good moments, but ultimately not good enough to start for any side aiming to be Champs.

Had any other manager signed him, he would face harsher crictism. But Ole for some reason keeps getting the benefit of doubt

Errors are starting to become a weekly occurrence for him, and today we saw the same thing. Absolute shocking header back to De Gea that led to Spurs' equalizer.

This chap was the panic buy for £80m. When you're prepared to spend a huge amount on a CB and can't look past Maguire then you know we're in deep shit.

Yep and this is on Ole 100%.

I've defended him but have no words for what happened today. Shame on him.

fecking horrendous, the key component in Spurs first 2 goals, playing positionally like he's been reading the kama sutra.

Forget the transfer fee, he is simply not at the level we expect. Kane is a top player but he made Maguire look like he was marking R9 today and he's not even that fast.

Terrible defender, as he was in many games last season.

Yet he will continue to start every game, because Ole can't drop him after insisting on spending 80M on him.

He’s been an abomination post lockdown to be honest.
Don’t know if the armband is too heavy for him but his confidence is shot.
I think a spell out of the team will do him good.

80m for deadwood, most annoying thing is it was blatantly obvious he was nothing special before we bought him.

Problem is only now he is being highlighted for his crap performances, this should have been done ages ago and ole should have done summat about it. Just shows how weak we are as a club!

On top of everything, he should have been subbed after 9 minutes today. You know Mourinho would have.

At least it would have showed a tiny bit of fire and pretended that we actually set standards of our players.

Allowing him to keep the captaincy this summer was another comical, spineless decision that sent all the wrong messages. At least Southgate showed with his decision, and the Greenwood/Foden call, that he has at least the bare-minimum basic standards for his team.

Worst performance by him in a Utd jersey by quite a distance .

Kane absolutely bossed him

Needs to be demoted to reserves after this match, and stripped of captaincy

Yeah, has been all over the place since the lockdown.

He was never worth the stupid money we paid for him, but he was really playing like a headless chicken.

Man this is so depressing. I remember when so many said that the defence is good enough just because of the goals conceded in the league last season. Seems Ed and Ole were the same opinion and thats why getting new CBs were never a discussion ?!. I never understood those who said Maguire is good enough. But this sums up how low the standards has become...

He lacks abilities which modern CB should have. Decent pace, good build up game, being good with the ball.

So obvious he would have this start to the season after what happened in the summer

I was absolutely furious at him on the second goal.

Makes a challenge for a ball he knows he can't win, in an area of the pitch where kane is no danger. Gives a cheap foul away which he then fails to do the most basic thing you are taught at fckin youth level - stop the quick freekick!

I like Harry but he's no excuse for today's shambles. He's heads clearly not in the game and he needs taking out of the squad
