I'd keep Martial, but him plus 50m is still going to be about 100m short of Levy's valuation. I don't believe us or anyone in the Premier League will pay 200m for him. He seems like a natural replacement for Benzema so let him go to Real Madrid.

I'd get Sancho (100m?) to solve our right sided weakness, and then shop for another CF who would cost 100m or less. We could do with some cover with Ighalo until Greenwood is ready.

Hell, Dortmund would probably give us Sancho and Haaland for 200m. I'd take that deal every day of the week over Kane for the same amount.
 
The Kane ship has sailed. Pure and simple.

The title winning teams in the past decade that had a top CF who were tops of the league goal chart were Aguero, RVP, Berbatov, and Drogba.

Having a top CF leading you to the title is years gone by due to the lack of pure CF goal machines, but more so generating goals from across your front line players and attack minded midfielders, i.e. balance of scoring threat.

Scoring balance and quality depth in addition to a style of play that generates a good amount of scoring chances is what United are building.

Agreed.

He is a good striker, but overrated in my opinion. Plus, he’s getting injured with increasing frequency.

His contract with Spurs extends up to 2024. There is no hurry to sell. Levy would value him in excess of £125 million. That is too much in the post-corona world, at least in the immediate transfer market.

Only player who’s worth that kind of money is Mbappe, and may be Messi for the “brand-factor.” United don’t need him at the moment.

No way are we getting two 100 million pound attacking players in one window. Even without Covid-19 that is crazy and cannot ever be expected.

If we get Sancho we will be lucky in the near future. We can’t really expect anything in the near future at this point, no teams can.

I actually think he is a good punt. He has glaring weaknesses but is super talented at the same time.

If we can make him into a more all round package within a couple of years he could be a great bit of business in the long run. He’s a player you’d pay to watch when on form and will get fans off their seats.

As mad as it sounds, I'm not keen on him. I think we can challenge without spending stupid money on him.

Same. 23 year old Kane off the back of a consecutive 25+ goal season would be worth £200m. 26 year old Kane with this injury record, his already more conservative and economical game and question marks over his ankles is not worth that sort of money. He will score a lot of goals between now and his retirement, I’ve no doubt about that but I think it’s more likely to be from 6/7 seasons of 15-25 goals with him often missing for long stretches. £150-£200m should get you a regular 30+ goal striker and I don’t think he’s going to reach those heights again.
 
Even in normal times I would not pay 200 million for Kane.

He’s amazing, but his injuries concern me, plus we could potentially get Sancho for half the price who will cover our RW for 10 years with any luck.

A lot of his problems are linked to the ridiculous dependency on him at spurs and the regular returns when he's not recovered from injuries. Didn't even get a break after the WC iirc. He wouldn't have these problems at a bigger club. For me, he's the best #9 in the world after Lewandowski not named Messi/Ronaldo and a striker like him can transform a team.

Better yet, take that 200 mil knock on PSG‘s door and see if the rumours of Mbappe not wanting to sign an extension there is true.

Nit saying Kane isn’t a great player but I just don’t think he fits in with what Ole is trying to do and buying him for 200 mil would be like taking 4 steps back in the long run for a temporary gain that I don’t think will be that big of a step.

Not that I am in favour of bringing in Kane for big money but Halland and Kane are nothing alike.
 
200 mil? Good luck, Levy! Only idiot will pay that with or without corona.

It should be around 100mil.
 
I wouldn't be surprised if we signed him. Him and Martial rotating constantly with Ighalo as cover. Something in me has an odd feeling Martial would do well at the RW if he wouldn't fancy sitting out when Harry is playing. and some games they should play together.
 
200m for Kane is ludicrous. Another player fallout with Levy incoming?
 
Opening position. Nobody will get near that in this climate. Its almost as if Spurs thinks the financial crunch isnt going to impact anybody else.
130m with clauses is the number imo

He’s been overused at Spurs - Eriksen is looking similarly burnt out; it’s that lack of rotational depth at Spurs is probably why also prevented Pochettino from winning anything. If you’re playing perpetual front-foot football without the depth of City, or the doping of Liverpool, you’re going to lose intensity at key points of the season.

Kane still looks quality as a false 9 for England, and I think he’ll reach his best again once he plays for a club that has willing runners around him/a viable alternative to rest him.

I made the post before the article about him being valued for 200m. Levy is out of his mind if he thinks anyone would pay that even before post COVID-19. Might be a similar situation with Bale where they want us to spend stupid money but Madrid would get him for less
 
If he wants to come you cant say no, i dont think he would cost £200mil upfront maybe with add on etc. He's quality striker and still quite young, he would guarantee us a minimum of 25 PL goals a season.

Also he wouldnt need to play every single game like he does at Spurs. We could rotate him with Martial/Greenwood so theres less chance of him burning out and getting more injuires etc.
 
I honestly wouldn't want to pay £100m for him under normal circumstances never mind £200m in the midst of a crisis that will end up destroying the economy.

Same here. He's World Class but we'd still have glaring weaknesses if we spunked the summer budget on him, whereas we could spend the same amount on RW, CM and CB and have a complete side.
 
Could also be a good ploy by Levy. Letting clubs know Kane is available (albeit for stupid money). Obviously no club in their right mind will even consider that amount they at least know that theres a possibilty of signing him to begin with. Levy is a smart man, he knows that he wont be getting anywhere near 200 million but hes not going to under value his prize asset now is he?
 
Levy has made really poor decisions when it comes to players sales and forcing to keep unhappy players over the years due to his stubbornness.
Eriksen, Dier, Rose and Alderweireld that he could have sold for a combined fee of around £250m over the past 2 years but look where they are now?

If he carries on his "tough" negotiating tactics for Kane's possible departure then this will only cause further detrimental to the rebuild of the team.

i can never understand how he gets all the praise and recognition for doing such a bad job, the last player he sold for a decent fee was Walker and that was 3 years ago.

We've tried Martial at RW and he was totally ineffective there as it strips away all his best facets. Total no go.
 
Ighalo has done exactly the job we wanted from a striker hold up and link up well and getting into striking positions. Kane would be a massive upgrade on this regardless of injuries but for north of £100m not a chance.
 
Kane was absolutely stupid to sign extension with Spurs (in 2015), he should have ran down his contract. When all top players were earning 250,000 to 300,000 per week and he signed on 100,000 per week. Should have kicked Levy then and forced a move in 2015.

I really wouldn’t sign him now, injury prone and doesn’t look like he has too many years left on top. I would rather sign someone younger.
 
Seems very unlikely given length of contract and expected fee to United or even anyone else really. Spurs would have to hit some serious trouble should they sell and while I hope United are moving forwards, it's a big risk for Harry too.

Perhaps Harry should he want to go can force a move abroad for a more reasonable fee. Tricky being 27 this summer, 4 years left and not the type to do a Coutinho.

If by some magical occurrence he wants to come here and Spurs are willing to listen to sensible offers then sure, his all round game is excellent.

Eriksen has left. Kane pretty much saying he'd leave for trophies.
Vertonghen and Alderweireld's contracts are due this summer.

With the wages they want to pay for players, I think all this is catching up with them

Kane is a terrific player and he would no doubt improve our side, however we all have budgets, and other areas of the pitch need investment. I don’t feel he’s the last piece of the jigsaw. We need a midfielder, maybe two if Pogba departs, a right winger and a better partner for McGuire.

Kane will ultimately regret not moving a couple of years ago and signing a very long contract. He’s pretty much untransferable now and will likely not be able to move until he’s 28/29 - where he might get a year or two at a top club.

I think Aldrrweireld signed a new contract - but in case he’s not the player he was.

They also have an increasingly dodgy keeper in Lloris who is not good enough.

Jose is the biggest problem.

looking forward to seeing which soon to be over the hill players he’s buying this summer. He’s guaranteed not to be there in 2 years, so will focus on the short term which will further screw over spurs.
 
£100m yes, £200m no chance. Spurs must be in a spot though with large public gatherings banned for the foreseeable as this was their way of paying for the stadium. It will be an interesting window for them.
