If given a choice between Sancho and Kane then it’s Sancho all day for me and I think with Rashford back and fully fit we’d see a lot more from Martial too as Rashford and Martial really started to become a partnership so with Greenwood also here I don’t think Kane is needed at all.

Barca and Real are looking for players that’ll score goals and knowing Levy as we do he’d much sell Kane abroad for £130-£150 million instead of £150-£175 million to a Premier League club, as great as Kane is as an out and out centre forward I just don’t think he suits how we’re trying to play.

I think we would all want Kane if we were told United has a 500m budget
 
Kane is off to Real MaDrid with Jovic and money coming the opposite way to Spurs, perfect replacement for Benzema.
Pogba staying at Man Utd as Real have Martin Odegaard and Ceballos to come back from their loans.

Barce will look to offload Coutinho,Grezimann and probably Dembele at a loss to balance the books.

Would be more than happy if we could get either of them. But Kane, in addition to Sancho, could make us challenge. An attack consisting of Rashford, Martial and Sancho is not at the same level as Mane/Sterling, Firmino/Aguero and Salah/Mahrez. Rashford is getting close. Same for Sancho, but I would be very surprised if he dont need a year or two.

Both to develop and to adjust to a new league and team. Kane, on the other hand, is a Virgil van Dijk with injuries. Literally a game changer that will win you games. We would suddenly have the best striker in the Premier League and an experienced striker who should be at the top of his game. He would probably raise the level of the younger players around him and be a very natural focal point. I’m not sure that he would «equal» Man Utds attack to Man City/LFC, but he would take us so close!

It is the injuries and the price tag that makes you worry about the risk. Probably his form too, but when you dig into the numbers there is a good argument that the form of his team is to blame.

Is it realistic that we have that kind of money? Not at all. Unless we sell Pogba. And it would still not be realistic.

Doesn't mean much but Reddit ITK ( don't shoot the messenger) are saying we are negotiating with Spurs for him
 
It can't be possible to get him right? On top of a 120m Sancho and possibly another mid and maybe Ighalo.
 
I fear a Sanchez 2.0 if we are to get him. Has looked slower than usual since WC in Russia or the injury right before that.

1. Already a slow player, but looked slower( at least to my eyes) after a number of injuries in both ankles. Seems less able to get the little space he needs to get a shot off...
2. Played a huge amount of games and little to no retraining after injuries. Bound to take its toll on the body. Sanchez played almost all games for Arsenal and had little rest due to internationals with Chile. Is Kane already starting to physically decline?
3. We have a number of players able to play as a striker (Martial, Rashford, Greenwood and possibly Ighalo).
4. We are more in need of a right-winger (Sancho) and need the money for him.

I fear that we are going for him, due to the "publicity" and his "brand recognition", but there are enough reasons and uncertainties that we should not go for him.
 
As much as I like Kane when he plays for England I don't want him at Man United. I would rather we go for Sancho and buy a midfielders when Pogba goes.

I can imagine him at Real. Would be interesting to see how that goes.

This is how I feel.

I like him as a player - but when I see him with players like Rashford, Sancho and Sterling for England- I feel like he slows down their game a bit.

I just don't think he would be worth the amount Levy would ask for him and would end up being a useful short term option that maybe puts back some of the other players that have already progressed.

Getting Sancho, Kane, and even adding a midfielder would cost around 300M-320M in fees a big number it is, but if we selling Pogba for close to a 100M as what is believed that won't be bad business. The worry then would be the salary aspect of the deals.

I'm not saying it will happen but if he is available we should be in the race for his signature.

Hmmm not sure about him slowing their game down, I don’t watch all England games but when I’ve seen him he’s usually done the business.

His hold up play when in form is outstanding which I think is key in Ole’s style of play.

Look how much better we looked with a natural No 9 in our team, Ighalo picking up the right spaces and holding the ball to bring in our excellent pace on the transition.

Kane is the ultimate no 9 right now. I think he would be perfect in this team.

I know we are all desperate for Sancho (myself included!) but in ten years from now there is every chance we will be laughing at the time we turned down a chance to sign Kane and blew our load on Sancho.

I agree, although I'd say Lewandowski is the ultimate no. 9. Kane isn't far off. He would be such a huge upgrade for us. I'd happily sell Pogba and Martial if it got us Kane and Sancho.
 
He'll be like Becks - won't play for another PL side. Almost certain he'll end up in Spain
 
Right-wing, midfield and central defence should be our priority. These rumours are very likely coming from his agent wanting to upgrade his contract now he's realised Kane is being massively underpaid compared to lesser players in the top leagues.

We already have the strikers envy of the football world. Our problem has been lack of quality in midfield to feed the strikers.
 
Somebody should turn Hue Min Son's head and heart towards Old Trafford. That would be a real coup.

You really think we have top level number 9’s in this squad?

I love Rashford and I’m a fan of martial for the most part but neither are true number 9’s.

Kane as the number 9 with Sancho off the right side, with Rashford and Martial slugging it out for the left.

that is far better than any combination of our current forwards.

Although Son is a better player than Rashford currently but we should prioritise in other areas of the pitch.

We simply can't afford Kane and fill other more pressing voids. We really need to get real as fans.

My post was just tongue in cheek comment. If we were to buy any player from Spurs I would pick Son. Kane, although better than our present strikers is out of bounds as is Son who would be a luxury player as we don't have a place for him in our squad.

It's kind of strange and refreshing to see the state of their squad with only 1 or 2 players that could get into our team considering it was only 2 years ago that they had one of the best squads in England and were close to winning the title.

Big credit to Ole as well with his transfer success rate

I agree however if a player like Kane becomes available United should always try to make it happen.

RVP is the closest example of what I mean, you strike while the opportunity is there for a player that is that good.

Plus a 25+ goals a season no 9 is worth a lot more in the long run.

I agree we probably couldn’t get both in one window but he’s not a player to be sniffed at.
 
I'm not comparing Odion to Kane by any means, but with Odeon we have seen a few glimpses of how classic 9 could flourish in this system. Not sure if Kane would be worth the $$ but I'd love a true finished as a starter.

Not me, personally. It's not that I don't think he's a brilliant player. But there are lots of other brilliant players I don't want us to buy either. I like lots of our current players, and I'd like to see us judiciously strengthen that existing group with quality that will complement them. Which means Sancho, not Kane. I honestly wouldn't take Kane even if you offered both of them. I'm excited to see the Martial and Rashford who have both flowered this season, and also for Greenwood to continue to develop and come into the side more.

Agree with this post, there will be plenty of game time for Rashford and Martial even if Kane and Sancho come. There may even be certain matches against lower tier opposition where all 4 play at the same time with Bruno and someone else in behind.

All the murmurs I have read suggest it's actually Kane or Grealish, not Kane or Sancho. Sancho is for sure a priority and if Kane can be got at a reasonable price then Kane would also be brought in.

They've surprisingly gotten better over the last several months after how bad they were at points last summer. Broke a lot of the Bruno news in Jan with accurate details before the news outlets did.

I just think from a cost perspective it would be difficult to sign Kane and Sancho in the same window.

That said if we could then we definitely should. Each of them fit both the style of play and player demographic Ole has implemented.

All those long range attempts teed up by a willing central conduit. Gone. Kane takes a gazillion long-range shots on and expects to be set up for a lot of them by others. Can you think of a side that has two long-range pot-shotters in it at the top level? Usually, one will have to sacrifice for the other.

For England, Rashford has to defer to Kane, compromising his own game in the process. That might be 'OK' at NT level, but for club, not so much.

I'm also unconvinced of Kane's desire to play snazzy one-touch that has him as a cog in a machine rather than the main man all balls are funneled toward.

This is what I tried to mean by saying 'Kane slows down' Rashford, Sterling, Sancho but I couldn't find the right words - the game becomes heavily built around getting the best out of Kane and him being set up with in my opinion the other three end up playing less cohesive than they can.

Between injury doubts, an eye-watering transfer fee and his "career stage" I think we should stay away from him. We would (probably) still get a few good years out of Kane, but at what price, and then his value would be zero after his first contract is up, it doesn't make business sense. He's not a "long enough term" project for what he would cost, in my opinion, and a significant risk at this point. He'd be the perfect signing a few years ago.
 
I think Kane is no doubt a great goal scoring striker but I wouldn't spend that money on him. I rather spend that money on Sancho whose got about 15 years left to give United. Also, Werner or Haaland would be better buys if we are targeting a striker.
 
At one point, I'd have suggested we sign Kane 'whatever the price.' He's that good. He's obviously still one of the best strikers in the world but concerns over his fitness and us needing to prioritise other areas of the squad, means I'd only hope we try to sign him, after we sign another winger and midfielder. Like others have said, Sancho should be the marquee signing and if we insist on buying another top level striker, I'd rather Haaland.
 
Same as others, Sancho would definitely be my main priority ahead of Kane. Of course if he's available and we have a chance you go for a player like him unless one believes he's on wane. The again, we need to strengthen in midfield as well and possibly at some point at CB too.
