Harry Kane MBE | Performances

Harry Kane is my favourite ever player, but I think he leaves us at some point to win trophies. There is no chance he leaves this summer, he will have at least one season in the new stadium. I would love him to see out his career at Spurs, and barring injury breaks pretty much every goal scoring record going in England, but I feel he is too ambitious to not win the title in his career.

I was just looking at the top scorers list on the BBC today and was very surprised to see Kane has only 1 assist (is that normal for Kane ?) whilst has played at least 200 mins more than any of the other players in the Top 10 bar Lukaku.

At their current scoring rates both Aguero and Sterling would be within 2 goals and Salah level but with many more assists.

I also can't yet find how many of Kane's, Aguero's etc, goals have come from penalties, which bias goal scoring records IMHO.

Penalties do skew things, but Ronaldo always scored lots of his total goals from pens right whilst he's been at Madrid? As for Kane's assists, im sure I seen a season where he had like 6 or so, on top of around 25-30ish goals.

I could be wrong but I think out of all his goals in 2017 only 1 was a penalty.

His assist rate is usually higher but to be fair he is on absolute fire this season, only 1 penalty this season IIRC.

We've reached the knockout stages of the CL, finished top of our group and have a talented team. From here on it's a cup format, which means that almost anything can happen on the day.

All this means that Spurs have a chance of winning the CL. How much of a chance is up for debate, but the existence of that chance isn't.
In recent years we've found out that this anything can happen nonsense is just that, nonsense. All teams that make it far are top quality sides and there's a clear gap between them and the rest, much bigger than previously. There's a chance by virtue of Spurs still being in the competition, but both me and you know it isn't going to happen, not this season anyways. Build a side good enough to win the competition then come back to me.

Out of interest, is United good enough to win the CL?

I don't know TBH, I think an English team will at least make the final if not win it.
The team wont be us or you guys. way to weak in midfield. Maybe Pool or City could do some damage. We're going to park buses until someone breaks it down or finds the key and moves it. You guys need a fully fit Dembele, a fully fit Wanyama and another very good midfielder especially from technical standpoint. I always feel like your attack is imbalanced but that can change with Lamela around especially if he hits form.

So which are the top quality sides that will make it far do you think?

Not even close, wont even make the semi's.

Why not? Got a good draw in the last 16, should make the last 8.

If United sign Sanchez and we get the Alexis Sanchez of last season and previous seasons gone by, our attack will have gone up to a whole different level and Lingard as been an added bonus lately too in that sense.

End of the day United have players like De Gea/Pogba/Lukaku/Zlatan/Sanchez/Martial/Rashford PSG/City are favioutes, but we have just as much chance as all the rest of the teams behind those 2.

Favorable draw. With the other big dogs knocking one another out....it’s a knockout cup after all. Who knows. But yeah, Barca/PSG/City are probably favorites with Munich behind them. Don’t rule out Juve or even Madrid to get their act together.

Conveniently forgetting Barca (the favourites) and Bayern both who are miles ahead too. And including players such as Lukaku/Zlatan/Martial/Rashford when talking about a competition with the best in the world is stretching it a bit ! I'll give you the other three ;)

At the end of the day there are multiple factors that need to come together for a team to win the CL, including luck of the draw, form (or opposition off form) and pure luck (in whatever form it takes, injuries, deflections, poor refereeing decisions etc. etc.). Liverpool's win in 2005 with a clearly average CL team, spattered with a few top class players that elevated them, show that on their day, if a team is capable of hitting those heights, even if not regularly, then they have a chance and dark horses do occasionally win.

Barca the team to beat, clear favourites for me. Madrid probably going home in this round.

Just had a look at the BBC top scorer list and notice that he is on 20 goals and this is only January. What the hell!! If he stays fit he’s on for a 30+ easy.

The only reason he didn't hit 30 last season was because he missed 6 weeks from injury. If he stays fit through a season he guarantees 30+ a season in just the PL alone.

Yeah, if I recall Lukaku looked like he was going to win it easily coming to the end of the season then Harry came back from an injury and scored a stupid amount of goals in a short time.

I feel the same.

No one will want to face any of the English teams. They are all capable of knocking out anyone.

Barca are favourites with you but the bookies say it’s City.

Those two and PSG certainly look the sharpest right now.

Yeah agree on the English teams - if they play to their potential.

The English bookies' odds always favour English teams because most of their bets are from English based punters who'll more often than not pour money on their own team.

He's absolutely incredible. The best goalscorer the league has seen since Shearer & Henry. Stats-wise anyway.

PSG, City, Bayern and Barca. Madrid are a dark horse as no one really knows if they are to sort themselves out this season but their quality is undeniable. Honourble mention to Pool, no one will want to face them, even the best in europe, their defence is probably to weak to win the whole thing though.

We don't play the sort of football that succeeds in the competition. Our team can't really pass and is low in intensity. We resort to parking the bus against the sort of teams that win the competition. By the last 8 most of the riff raff is out so there's no such thing as a good draw that deep into the competition. You living in a whole different universe if you think we have as much a chance as Bayern and Barca, it'll be one hell of of a bus.

Is there a better no. 9 in the world at the moment??? just looking at the top clubs (bayern, real etc etc)...can't think of any i'd rather have at United right now. Sure Lewandowski is great but he's hitting 30 and not been fantastic in a fairly easy league, Benzena is past it, Suarez too. Beats all in the Prem incl. Aguero.

The EPL is so tough City have a 13 point lead...
Easy league

not going to bother to find the stat but pretty sure United are close to the same points now that Chelsea were last season when they won the league. Always a freak season. Assuming you're joking though when you say it's an easy league.

Chelsea had 93 points last year. We are far away from that.....

Sure he means at the same stage.

Yeah but that's not true either. Chelsea reached the same amount of points we have now with 3 games less. City is having a freak season, but all those we would have won the league if it wasn't for their freak season comments are just wrong. We are on course for 81 points, that doesn't win you a league anywhere and we would have been 12 points behind last year too. Leicester season was the odd exception.

Fair enough!

Again, we are with 3 games less as @Pyroblazer pointed outbut, hey anything to suit the narrative ...

Also Salah is ripping the supposed best league in history when he wasn't even Roma's best player so I suppose the EPL must be a lot weaker than Serie A then going by that logic...

I'm assuming you're joking saying the Bundesliga is an easy league. It's such an easy league that when gerd Lewandowski scored 30 goals in 15/16 he became the first player to do it since Gerd Muller in the 70s but hey, easy as hell.
