Pochettino had 4 players in the summer before he went - Lo Celso, Sessegnon, Ndombele, and Clarke - all, including the GLC commitment, totalling around £130m+. Pochettino was absolutely spent, even before the season he lost his job in. People completely turn a blind eye to how bad the style of play and games were long before he left (looooong before) just because of the CL run (which wasn't impressive in itself). It wasn't some sort of travesty or injustice - we were getting absolutely battered in most games and he looked completely clueless about it.

What people really need to consider is how much Harry Kane made Pochettino look better than he gets credited for - I mean that in terms of mentality and ability. He was a key part of the turnaround (mentally) that would otherwise have ended very quickly for Poch when Kaboul, Paulinho and Adebayor started to turn the dressing room.

People measure success with Kane about trophies, but there's a very slim (if not completely improbable) chance of winning a cup this season that he could still do that. Would that not also, technically, make Mourinho more successful than Pochettino was? :confused:
 
He needs to leave Spurs who are going backwards.

Spurs got lucky in facing City early and have just scraped by with 1-0 wins. Wolves were easily the better side, just did not finish their chances. And they were dominated by a Palace side some were talking about being in a relegation battle.

Nuno will be gone by Christmas with the Jose style football he plays.
 
If I was Kane, I would have downed tools to get back at Levy. Smart if he is doing that. It will drop his valuation, force Levy to sell him, and big clubs will sign him anyway. Nobody can displace him from England team either. Its a win win for him. Just like Levy can say "there is no release clause in your contract", he can say "there is no perform your 100% clause either" :lol:

Felt Levy made a mistake not selling him personally.

Anyone whi watched the Euros would have sold England's striker for 100+ million.
 
He usually starts the season pretty slowly regardless of how close he was to the City move. Would be shocked if he doesn’t get up towards 20 league goals again.

Smart, apart from the fact that he is still at Spurs at 28 years old, he disrupted his club’s preseason , he lied about his intentions and actions, he didn’t get the move he wanted, he has turned the fan base of his only true career club against him, and in “downing tools”, he would further destroy that relationship, as well as have the big clubs questioning if it is just a part of a more general decline.

But apart from that, smart!

All those things have happened already, because he and his brother are dumb as bricks and got played by Levi, who is a scheming prick. Those things cannot be changed now, its done, its not relevant. Now its about him getting a move next summer. If he plays well, Levi wont sell him for anything less than 125M, which prices him out of moves. So downing tools is his only option. It reduces his price, and Levi wont want an underperforming unhappy player taking huge wages. Yes, clubs would have to take a risk, but he just had the best season of his career. Ronaldo also had a relatively poorer 08/09 season, and we all know it was because he wasnt happy, and same will happen for Kane. Top clubs will be in for him, no doubt. This is the only smart option left for him to somehow makeup for the dumb bs he already did.

Kane himself. His price would drop. Levy would not want to keep a player whose price is dropping, is not performing, and is on high wages. There would be a lot of media pressure. So he would be sold. Everybody would know that his performance dropped because he doesnt want to play at Tottenham(its so obvious), so big clubs will be in for him. Kane gets what he wants. And its not as if he will lose his place in England squad if his performance drops either, he's undroppable.

So Kane has to abandon any integrity he may have to get what he wants? It’s not that simple.

Kane may have agitated for a move but to purposely down tools for a pro sportsman is as low as it gets. That wouldn’t look good to anyone, especially prospective buyers. I’ll maintain my position and call the idea dumb as feck.

Ehh, you're being overdramatic as feck. Ronaldo did it during the 08/09 season, Sanchez did it for Arsenal for example. Lots of players do it, their performances mysteriously go down after a summer where their heads get turnt, and then they are sold the next summer. Nothing new, tbh. He has a lot of friends in media, someone will spin it as him being "shackled" in spurs, and everyone will soon forget all about it. Even if he gives his 50%, he's still a decent striker, Spurs cant really complain, particularly Levy cant. Its not in his contract see, just like his release clause.

I understand what you're saying but there is literally only one club that would buy him that is a step up from Spurs. City. Say he downs tools, falls out of favour at Spurs but in the meantime City have decided to go all in for Haaland ... what then? Kane is screwed and looks bad all at once. It's a risky and silly strategy.

Can Liverpool afford him at say 90-100M? Idk, but they sure need him. PSG/Real might go for him. City might go for him if they fail to get Haaland.

If Kane had braincells, he would fire his brother and get Raiola. This is exactly why footballers get agents like Raiola. Fant hate Raiola, but also laugh at footballers when they get fleeced by clubs. I would love to see Raiola vs Levy, Levy aint winning that one :lol:
 
Genuinely think it's the best business City did not spending £100m plus on Kane, judging on his play style, number of senior games he's played etc, I can't see him maintaining this rate into his 30's personally and Levy will regret not taking that money.

He is their best payed player, probably ever, on a long term contract. Downing tools would be horribly unprofessional and would demonstrate stupendously poor character.

Thats already done by what he did this summer :lol: Like I said even Ronaldo's performances dropped in 08/09, Tevez's too. Both wanted out, and got their move next summer. Its not that uncommon. Its not as if Levy has not played dirty either(if you believe he broke his word, which Modric has alluded to before as well so there's precedence).

Why would anyone spend money on a professional sportsman that on purpose down his tools to sabotage his own club to force his will? When you’re stupid enough to sign a 6-year long contract at 25, with a club that doesn’t win trophies, you get what you deserve. Play your best and hope someone actually pays the ransom. It wont be easy next summer either with younger and hotter prospects moving for free or cheaper….

Has happened before and will happen again. I've already listed examples, and since he is a top striker in a market where there are not many top strikers around, he will get a move. After his move he will say something like "I wasnt happy and it affected my performances. Levy lied to me" etc(Modric said the same), and all will be forgotten very soon. Probably not Spurs fans though. I dont feel sorry for Kane or Levy though. Levy did what a shrewd businessman would do, and Kane needs to do what a shrewd footballer should. This sort of situation is why I always get what people get agents like Raiola even if it bothers some fans. You're either the wolf, or the sheep.

If Kane downs tools he will : get his preferred move, Levy wont get the big fee he rejected this summer, and will finally get one over him. It would be really funny to me ngl. As a United fan, I would enjoy the drama.
 
His stats were incredible last season. But something doesn't seem right with him. Is he playing too deep? Is he angry with the Tottenham situation? Or is he just a bit off form?
 
He simply dosen't want to be there anymore. Will still be professional and score goals but can see that extra 10% isn't there this season.

When people were lauding Levy for his stance the reality is Spurs are still likely to finish 7th-8th and win nothing yet again and will just have to do rebuilding 12 months later.
