Harry Kane | "I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success."

I don't really agree with what Kane is doing here.
He signed a 6 year contract knowing what Spurs are like, he hasn't woken up one day and thought "Oh, I want to win trophies now". Why sign a contract that big without any get out clause?

Surely, a gentleman's agreement means nothing unless figures are discussed. Levy might have said, yes you can leave, even till this day he probably feels the same but the figure has to be right.

Kane has scored buckets of goals in the PL - 5 seasons straight
Kane is England captain - English tax adds £20m to the fee
Kane is at his peak 27 at the moment
Kane cannot be replaced by one player

£120m would be minimum that Spurs entertain.
The problem is hes worth more to Spurs than to anyone else.

Also hes starting to move like an old man.

Yep, that's the problem here, Spurs hold the cards, he signed a massive contract.

That's also because he plays every game for Spurs, at City he will get alot of rest and even perhaps prolong his career.

It was good to get a proper look at him at the Euros. I realise it was at the end of the season but even so, I was less than convinced. Don’t get me wrong, class player and still got some years ahead and I’d love to see him wearing the red of United but you do feel his very best is behind him.

Its so difficult to tell how hes going to be in 2 years time. You might be right and hes ok, but potentially a quick decline. He really struggled playing up front for England, he didn't have the movement to make any space and his skill isn't exactly high enough to get past players consistently.

He's left you aloneeee, he's left you aloneeee, `arry Kane, he's left you alone!

Are you serious here?

Since when is 27 old? Players enter into their prime at 26-30, where you get this notion of Old is weird. PL is tougher on older players? I mean Aubemayang is 4 years older than Kane... Aguero was still very good at 30.

Salah, Mane, VVD, KDB are all similar age, does that mean they are not worth money?

Kane had 24 goals 2 assists in 19/20 and 24 goals 6 assists year before.

Players in PL tend to peak aged 24-28, maybe that extends a bit later for CBs. Many are still good later, but many are not. There are statistical studies looking at this. Football is a young man’s game, at least outside Serie A.

Kane had 16 non penalty league goals in 19-20 and 13 the year beforehand. Both those figures ranked 7th in the league. You better hope that’s not the player you’re paying for if you’re spending 100m, let alone 150m.

To be fair scoring penalties is probably worth £100m to City with their track record.

His injury record has been massively overhyped.. He played 35 league games last season.. a season that was probably more demanding than most in the recent past because of the scheduling... 49 games in total for club and add games for England on top of that.

Hazard went to Madrid for 140m with 1 year left on his contract... and was older than Kane at that time.. Kane is a goal machine..

Post covid is a factor.. but then again.. its City and Levy. One has a shit ton of money and bid 100m for Grealish and the other who is notorious for not letting anyone go on the cheap.

100m is not going to be accepted.

Typical Arsenal fan being salty about other teams’ players. Same with you lot with we signed Varane and you signed Ben White and tried to argue financials to say you got the better transfer.

Kane is prolly the best striker in world football today along with Lewandowski. He is easily worth £100m+ in this market. He is about as finished an article as they come and can seemingly slot into any side in the world.

I don't think it's a case of him being old, more a case of zero resale value to recoup after 5 years which has to be some kind of factor when you're paying north of £100m. The figures in excess of £150m are ridiculous in my opinion, however I think it will get done for around £130m, as the relationship between player and club seems damaged beyond repair now.

Been pointed out before, but Kane is simply worth more to Spurs than he is to City.

Without Kane, Spurs have next to no chance of finishing in the top 4, and their marketability diminishes massively if he leaves. In a good season, you could argue that Kane brings in anywhere upwards of 50-70m for Spurs.

As good as he would be for City, they're not dropping out of top 4 anytime soon, and will be there and thereabouts for CL/PL titles if Kane doesn't come.

I do kind of get the resale value factor but it does get exaggerated alot. A team will pay over £100m for a player but will only sell the player if they kind of flopped, otherwise they wouldn't want to sell them therefore; the teams won't recoup the money.

E.g Coutinho, Griezman, Felix, Dembele, Hazard - none of those players would go for even £50m now.

Then there is the players that do sign for that much, they know teams wouldn't sell them so they run their contracts down e.g Mbappe and Pogba

Hardly do you see a £100m player going for anywhere near the amount.

It's not just up to the club, if Kane won't resign for his new club, then they are forced to sell.

So that could happen to a player aged 22 or 30.

Also, City are not a club to care about sell on value really.

True City don't care. I do not understand the point you are making about his age, how is that relevant?

I was trying to say, not many £100m transfers have actually got the resale value as there is 3 options.

1. The player does really well and stays at the club
2. Player flops and is sold for a fraction of price
3. Player runs his contract down, sold for fraction of price

So, unless you are a selling club, it depends on why clubs want to spend the £100m. The likes of United, City, Chelsea don't care about sell on value, they do it to get trophies and commercial value.

I don't think I agree, I think with the likes of Pogba and Lukaku resale has been important.

He has averaged a non penalty goal every 157 minutes and 415 minutes per assist in all comps over the last 3 seasons, that includes Mickey Mouse cup, Europa League Qs etc. This is not WC numbers and he is not the WC "passer of the ball" everyone proclaimed when he had a little assistspree last autumn either (4 assists in his last 29 apps). No way is he worth the 150M Spurs is asking for him. Never!

150M could get you 5 years younger Mbappe (111 minutes per non penalty goal and 219 minutes per assist for PSG) and would definitely get you 7 years younger Haaland (89 minutes per non penalty goal and 322 minutes per assist for Dortmund).

Firstly, Mbappe will come with a wage of 500k minimum.

Secondly, Kane is playing for Spurs in the PL not PSG in a farmers league where most clubs wouldn't even do well in the championship.

Thirdly, Kane has produced numbers for 6/7 years where as Haaland has done it at Dortmund for 18 months.

Kane is one of the best passers of a football actually, I don't know how you can discount that? His passing ability is better than Mbappe and Haaland.

He was a world record transfer, in a shitload of money (for someone 22-23 years old), and he didn’t renew when we asked for precisely the same reason.

Now he’ll either get half a million per week here or elsewhere (and nice signing on fee etc). Also, playing for United is a bit more prestigious than playing for Spurs.

* United wouldn’t have accepted a shorter contract after paying 100m on fee. Spurs on the other hand would have accepted a shorter contract or else risk losing him in free soon.

Well yes I've said the same thing months ago that Harry could've easily signed a new 3-4 year deal while at Spurs, they wouldn't have told him to leave and would have to accept and a club paying a big fee want a long contract. Still I think Raiola will have seen the problems with Pogba's 6 year deal and possibly go no more than 5 and include some CL qualification clause like multiple non quali. A big club with big ambitions could still go ahead thinking it won't be a problem.

Why would he not go to training but tell them he will come to training later in the week? If it’s a standoff it’s a standoff. Don’t pussy out.

Exactly. Either you go all out or not. Come back to training and the power is all with levy.

So he hasn't turned up again but will later in the week? What the actual feck

Hes a good passer for a striker, but one of the best passers out of all positions? I wouldn't say so.

Some backtracking going on by the Kane brothers.

Shitbag!

Nah in all seriousness he probably realises if City sign Grealish then his move is unlikely, I can’t see anybody paying 150m+ for Kane this summer.

There is just this small part of me that really wants Kane to join City.

Maybe I'm wrong but I wouldn't be surprised for him to play a bit like he does for England or City being a little less fluid than they could be.

What wage will Kane come with?

Kane in the CL: 123 minutes per non penalty goal in the CL and 696 minutes per assist or 102 minutes per non penalty G/A
Mbappe in the CL: 144 minutes per non penalty goal in the CL and 203 minutes per assist or 82 minutes per non penalty G/A
Haaland in the CL: 74 minutes per non penalty goal in the CL and 420 minutes per assist or 63 minutes per non penalty G/A

None of Kanes seasons for Spurs has been close to what Haaland has done for Dortmund as a 19 and 20 year old.

Harry had a spree in the first 11 matces of the campaign last season where he assisted 10 times.Other than that he has contributed with an absolute minimum of key passes in his career (6 matches on average between each assist in his entire football career) He is not direct and not creative. Both Haaland and Mbappe creates more for their teammates.

+ Kanes value will go down from here no matter how well he does for you bacuse of his age......and he is injury prone.

150M in this market for Kane would be complete madness.

The leverage is with Spurs. Kane is staying.

He should have taken a leaf out of Pogba’s book when it comes to committing your future to a club.

If City don't sign him this summer then no doubt we will be in for him next summer if we cant land haaland. Cannot see Manchester United not being interested in Harry Kane if hes available. 29 yrs old or not. We're a few seasons away from a decade since fergie retired and we have no PL title. Kane next summer for us could do a Van Persie and get us over the line.

Even before the window opened, the City journalists were saying that City's intention was to sign both Grealish and Kane. The obstacle is probably selling players to make the Kane bid viable with extra scrutiny on them for FFP.

A lot of places allow you two days sick before you have to get a doctors cert. Maybe he just had a dose of the shits after a dodgy curry the weekend and he'll take the two days and be back on Wednesday, so he doesn't have to fork out for the doctors visit to get the cert.

Harry Should have thought of this before signing that feckin ridiculous renewal.

I have absolutely no sympathy for him. One of the most shocking decisions by a sportsman in recent memory, said that at the time.

I'm sure he did, which is why he was careful to ensure that he inserted the legally watertight "gentleman's agreement" into the deal. This was further solidified with a wink and a secret handshake.

Poor Harry must be absolutely aghast that well-know gentleman and affable good guy Daniel Levy is not sticking to the deal.

C'mon Levy hold out!! The thought of both greilish and kane in that City team is sending shivers down my spine

So penalties don't count as goals?

Both Haaland and Mbappe play for clubs in leagues that are alot lesser than the PL, ofcourse to suit your argument, you wouldn't take that into consideration.

Also, could you explain what injury prone means?

Finally, no one says Kane is worth £150m, but that is what he is worth to Spurs and there are very many reasons why.
The reason why Haaland fee this summer is £150m and Mbappe with one year left is still over £100m shows how good of players they are, if all things were equal, all 3 players had 3 years left on their contract, PSG and Dortmund would want over £200m
