Harry Kane | "I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success."

Im sure Liverpool fans thought the same thing of Owen playing for Liverpool, or spurs fans thought the same of Campbell playing for Arsenal…

I certainly don’t think there’s much of a chance of Kane going to Chelsea this time, but it cannot be ruled out so definitively at some point in his career.
There was absolutely no chance that Liverpool would ever have sold Owen to united, or that spurs would have sold Campbell to arsenal.

Likewise, there is no chance they will sell to Chelsea unless they are absolutely desperate. And with City in there, they won't be. The only reason for them to talk to Chelsea is to drive up the price for city.

After his next club - sure, all bets are off.

Harry has a totally different personality to either of those people. He is Spurs through and through and I honestly can't ever see him playing for a direct rival.

I haven’t said anything different.

the argument was that he would never play for Chelsea, that’s a point that i disagree with.

What’s the possibility that Levy makes him stay? He does have 3 years left on his deal.

He will stay if nobody meets Levy's valuation - until next summer anyway then he will 100% leave because he will only have 2 years left on the contract.

He thinks he has a gentleman's agreement with Levy to be allowed to go from reports.

Now we know Levy ain't no gentleman....

Given City are going to make a decent offer, I reckon he'll kick off big time if Levy breaks the agreement.

Probably one of the last person to make a gentleman's agreement with.

Even if he does stick to the agreement, I would be surprised if the fee was not £100m plus. Kane also mentioned it in the interview, with that in mind, I cannot see many clubs even bothering to negotiate knowing it will be over £100m.

I think, and this is just a hunch so hear me out.

Kane had his meeting with Levy and said he wanted to leave. Levy asked what would it take to make you stay for another season, and Kane said Poch and investment.

I see no other reason for Levy going so hard for Poch so soon again.

If in two years, city are telling him he is no longer in their plans, spurs are nowhere and Chelsea is the only serious suitor, you seriously think he wouldn't sign for them?

He would play in Europe if that happened. There is simply no way I can ever see him playing for a direct rival - especially not Chelsea.

Sol Campbell is about as far from Harry Kane in terms of personality as I can imagine.

I think you are overestimating how loyal players are, especially if we are talking about a scenario where he has to make a career choice of playing for top team or a midtable team in foreign league.

Rafa was worshipped by Liverpool fans, he didnt think twice before taking over Chelsea as caretaker boss, it wasn't even a proper contract, it was as a interim coach.

Campbell is a little different, he allowed his contract to run out, on the back of false promises to join our direct rival for free. Kane on the other hand has signed contract after contract to show his commitment to the club. I'm not saying footballers all footballers are loyal they clearly arent, but you cant judge all players equally.

Why would Kane choose Chelsea over Manchester clubs anyway? He can still be guaranteed to win by joining City & Pep and Levy would at least demand higher fees from Chelsea than City.

No I'm not saying Ade is same as Kane, some scenario was posted, I said in that scenario Kane might sign for Chelsea.

Speculation that Rafa will be Everton’s next manager - even recommended by Liverpool ‘legend’ Carragher.

I don’t think anyone sees Kane going directly to Chelsea now. But for footballers, it’s their career, they aren’t fans, they do what’s best for their career, and so there are lots of scenarios where Kane could play for Chelsea, or even Arsenal as some point.

players don’t think in the same way fans do.

Exactly. For example, he might go to City and then want to move back to London. Too costly for Spurs to sign and Chelsea might be the one for him. He can play for few years and then back to Spurs as part of the club management or in some role.

Cech did same thing.

Jaime Charrager was an Everton fan before he came to Liverpool. I'm not sure what your point is here.
In his testimonial he scored a pen for Everton against Liverpool. Cause deep down he always wanted to.

Harry has always been a Spurs fan - his entire family are Spurs fan. The fact he got picked up as a kid by Arsenal first is always picked up on. As if he would turn any professional club down at that age.

as if he would turn down Arsenal and Chelsea in the future if that was best for his career.

@roonster09 had given one example, of many.

He could get a bad injury at city, they go any buy the next shiny thing and look to get rid. Chelsea and Arsenal are the only teams prepared to take a risk. Does he move or not play because he’s ‘loyal’ to spurs?

The difference now is that he can choose to play in almost any club he chooses - as a 13 year old kid the situation was very different. I mean you know that just as well as I do but let's just keep going on about it anyway. Please keep creating as many scenarios as you can think of. My view is exactly the same. Whats your next scenario for me? Every other club in the world goes bust APART from Arsenal - does he choose to play for Arsenal then!??!? Well does he balaks!?!?

I’m not going on about what he did as a kid.

you said he would never play for Chelsea or Arsenal. That’s just plain nonsense. Yes at this moment in time he can choose. That might not be the case in 2,3,4,5 years time.

you are looking at it from a fans perspective - not someone who has a career.

we had the likes of Schmeichal, Cole, Denis Law playing for City - why because those were options available to them at the time. In particular with Schmeichal and Cole, location was important and City were probably one of very few clubs that would have wanted them at that time.

How many of them were Utd fans from childhood and brought up in a family who supported Utd? I'm asking because I genuinely don't know. Would Stevie Gerrard have ever played for Everton or Utd do you think?

honestly it doesn’t matter.

Ask Alan Smith. Staunch lifelong Leeds fan, who even came out and said he would never play for United.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....ews/bitter-rival-swore-hed-never-20144635.amp

“I don’t want to make any excuse for signing for Manchester United because it was a football-based decision.”

“I’d be doing myself a disservice if I didn't sign for, arguably at that time, the biggest club in the world.”

you don’t seem to comprehend that footballers think about their careers first and foremost.

It does matter - I take it none of them were proper Utd fans then - Smith moved from Leeds when they got relegated so it's a totally different situation to what Harry is facing.

For goodness sake. You are being foolish. As multiple people in the thread have said, we don’t expect him to move to Chelsea directly from spurs.

but to keep on banging on that he will never sign for a rival is utter drivel. Get a grip and stop thinking like a deluded football supporter.

Ooooooook. No need for that but thanks for your opinion. Multiple people have suggested exactly that in this thread but to be honest I can't be bothered even talking about this any more. It's like banging my head on the wall.

There is a need when you can’t even take on a simple point.

what club a footballer supported as a child, or who they’ve played for matters very little. We would all love to think it does, but it doesn’t. Most people can comprehend such a simple point.

Ok mate. I mean its fine to have a different opinion without resorting to calling people foolish or lacking in basic comprehension. Stay classy.
