Harry Kane | "I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success."

I'm not sure I like Kane that much at this point. Yeah I find his mouth a little bit dumb like probably most people do but that shouldn't be relevant when assessing a footballer. It really shouldn't. But for over 100m?

He's only 27 going 28 in the summer, and he's proven in the premier league. Don't know the quoted price but we'd be lucky to get him imo. We have enough young inconsistent players up top.
Ah man. We'd be title contenders for the next 3-4 years if we had both Kane and Sancho. Both players would be willing to come here and it's unclear anyone else (apart from us) will be in for either of them.

Guardiola or not, this team will win the PL. Just stop taking dividends for a year, borrow some extra cash and throw it at Kane and Sancho. We can even cut back a bit on transfers for the next 2-3 years if we can get this team next year.

------------------ Henderson -----------------------
-- AwB -- Lindelof -- Maguire -- Shaw --
----------------- Fred / McT --- Pogba ---------
-- Sancho -------- Bruno ------ Rashford ---
----------------------- Kane ----------------------------

Remains to be seen if Pogba will stay, but the 30-40m or whatever Juve want to throw at us will be more than accounted for if we sell Pogba and miss out on CL / don't go on a deep CL run (QF+) as a result.

Yeah will only take about £220m to sign those two

-- Rashford ------ Bruno ------ Pogba ---
----------------------- Kane --------------------------

-- Greenwood ------ Bruno ------ Rashford ---
----------------------- Kane ----------------------------

-- Diallo ------ Bruno -------- Martial ------
----------------------- Kane --------------------------

We can only dream. However, that is crazy options we got in our front four. One word ''Quality''.

Sound like Kane is tempted for a move, but doesn't like he would choose a project over a ready made platform. I don't consider us a ready made platform, so I don't see us getting him, even if we go out and match every other offer.

If he wants to win trophies, he might consider going to PSG. His ex-manager is there, he'll be guaranteed to win the French league title and who knows, he might even be the difference maker for them in the CL.

He hasn't scored this many Premier League goals to just abandon the chase for Shearer's record at his prime. Spurs won't like it but Kane's preference will be England.

Such a load of rubbish, we are literally in the conversation for world class players like Sancho and Haaland.

No, the club feed the media these stories of who we are linked to increase social interactions and appease the fanbase unrest throughout the summer. It has been going on for years.

If fans say this often enough, maybe one day it will be true. That is absolute nonsense and based upon nothing that happens in the real world, just the narrative/storyline of the soap that is football.

Are you crazy? Show me the evidence that we can compete with other big clubs for top players?

We couldn't best Dortmund to Bellingham and Haaland in the first place for god's sake.

The Glazers want to avoid spending at all costs.

Bellingham and Haaland? Fecking moronic. Young players who went for less than 30m is your evidence that we can’t compete for top players? Do you think Dortmund could have beaten us to Bruno? Or Pogba? Or Cavani? Or Van de Beek? Or Telles? Or Matic? Or just about anyone we’ve signed over 20 fecking 3.

The team you have mentioned have lost their player of the year twice to us, one of them literally left kicking and screaming. We’ve broken every record in football in recent years. Yet we can’t compete? We signed Maguire ahead of City, with Pep coming out and saying they couldn’t match the fee. We signed Sanchez ahead of City because they couldn’t compete. You’re talking absolute nonsense - we are no less able to compete for top players now than we have been at any point in the last 30 years.

You would still worry about the quality on the ball behind them because need better than McFred

It will be nice to upgrade McFred but if you have complete striker who is clinical and can pass the ball like Kane, playmakers like Bruno & Pogba, flair players like Rashford, Martial, Greenwood & Diallo. McFred can just do their job protect our centre backs and let those front four do the magic to score goals. Beside, Pogba can always play in midfield against teams that sit deep.

Dont think we would. Under Fergie, the two central midfielders job was to do the normal tasks in midfield, running a lot, normal distributing. A good example is Anderson. They certainly can do these, and they get a much worse rep than they deserve. McTominay is developing and adding new layers to his game every year. If you just have mighty creativity in front of them, it would work. Liverpool also had workhorses in central midfield when they won - and star players in other creative areas.

Did the club tell you that?

The Norwegian journalist Fredrik Filtvedt, from the paper Dagbladet, has close ties to Solskjær. He has an article out today stating that Kane is very high up on our list.

Google translate:

Dagbladet experiences that Manchester United follows Kane's situation closely and that the top scorer is high up on the club's wish and priority list. Kane has a very high standing at Old Trafford, and Dagbladet experiences that the striker himself is no stranger to the idea of announcing a move from London to Manchester.

That’s a hell of a name. Right out of DC or Marvel

Spurs fans, in the hypothetical situation where it becomes unmistakably clear that Kane wants out, would you take 80m-90m + Martial.

I do worry that Martial would be ridiculous at another club, Lingard style. He certainly has the ability.

I would take that deal though.

We really couldn't do wrong with either Kane or Haaland, ideally we need to get 1 of them + Sancho or another winger this summer.

Whether our finances can stretch that far with COVID we will see, but we'd be in a pretty strong position.

I feel like I remember this name from last window and it was just a lot of news that sounded positive, but it was mostly just lip-service.

No, I would take that deal as a United supporter.

Why else would I worry Martial being successful at Spurs or any other club?

'Cause it was specifically for Spurs fans.

I think it's pretty much nailed on that any United supporter would take that deal, like you said. I'm pretty curious as to whether Spurs fans would take it.

EDIT: or any conditions they might have i.e. us eating 100k/w of Martial's wages.

Kane and Sancho ain't happening I'm afraid.

Sorry, didn't know I wasn't allowed to answer :p

The real question is. How much is the PL trophy to you is? To win it, you need someone who will finish every chance. Kane is that someone. We've spent far more and received less them that.

He's 28 by the time next season starts. Would we really want to spend upwards of £125m on him? Especially with how bad his injury record is getting.

Its just terrible that they are at clubs who play the best transfer poker. I reckon most other clubs would have given in and sold Sancho for £80 mil in the middle of the pandemic. We'll be rinsed if we go for any of the 3 of them. And its a pity because Cavani has shown what we can do with an outright number 9 and Sancho would be the perfect RW for the team too.

I'm not optimistic.

5 years of top quality until hes 32 is more than long enough imo.

Its very much like an RVP scenario, buying with the intent to win the league. I do believe we could close the gap with a clinical striker. Our issues haven't been competing with the top 6 (we've gone toe to toe in most games and come awya with a scoreless draw), its us not having the consistency to knick a win with the one or two half chances that fall our way in the cagier affairs. Similarly our inability to break down the more stubborn teams in the PL, where you need a moment of magic, we haven't been able to produce with enough frequency.

If we could get Kane for £100m and Sancho for £70m then make back £20/30m in sales i'd say it's achievable - we usually have that sort of net spend.

Obviously relies on fans getting back though, so we will see.
