Harry Kane | "I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success."

I guess it might be more a case of worrying he's been playing that many games for so long & does have injury issues most seasons. Players now easily do 60+ games a season if there are internationals and they do well in cups, there's just too much.

I don't buy this idea of him being finished but I do think players aren't looked after when it comes to getting enough recovery/rehab from injuries. Issue for Kane is simply he signed a stupid contract and he has to live with that, 2024 is a long way off in the short career of a professional footballer.
Rashford played an inhuman amount of games last year and even he didn't hit 60 games!?
Kanes injuries are overcooked. He didn't miss that many games at all to injury. I think people who just adore Haaland are overcooking a narrative against Kane

Meh. I'll take Kane or Haaland next year. Kane's fee should be lower and Haaland has a release clause. City will be favourites for either, but I'd be happy with their leftovers.

Naw, feck that, Haaland will be the world’s next superstar, Kane a very good striker but not world superstar level..

Levy is a tough nut to crack.

I hope the Spurs fans turn on Kane as it'll be funny, but they won't they'll be praising him even though its obvious he wanted out.

I don't think he will be boohed but a lot of fans will never look at him in the same way again, I am one, I will support him but this "he is one of our own" BS is gone.

Haaland is a pipedream IMO. He decided to join Dortmund despite Ole personally going to see him. I can't see him joining us this time when you have City, Chelsea, Madrid and possibly Barcelona in the mix. I'm with you, I'd rather have Haaland but can't see it happening. Kane, on the other hand, isn't a bad fallback option and has always been the type of singing Manchester United have been in for and had success with.

Ultimately I think Levy was right here because you can't take out all context from a transfer offer. Sure he might have committed to a 100m number a few years ago, but in a market where Lukaku and Grealish go around that number, Kane has to command a higher fee.

City are the only real contest there - Madrid can't really pull off Mbappe + Haaland simultaneously, Barca are still broke / focusing on youth and Chelsea have Lukaku.

Part of me was hoping Kane would go to City this year so we get a clear run at Haaland but it wasn't meant to be.

I agree he wouldn’t be a bad fall back not at all but after flirting with City I’d love nothing more than for us to sign Haaland and him rip up the league with a big smile on his face..

Want to just ignore the fact we wouldn't agree to the stupid release clause his agent wanted or does that just not fit your story? Dortmund was also without a doubt the right move for him at that time too, it was the logical choice.

Kane would really struggle to come out of this looking like any more of an absolute weapon than he already has.

All we need now is a goal this weekend and Kane kissing the Spurs badge to complete this character arc

There's no replacement for a 25-30 goal a season striker though. They are very few and far between. Yeah they could invest it elsewhere but when you lose all those goals, you're fecked.
City won the pl without one, and Chelsea the cl without one I believe.

Last season Kane had 49 apps for Spurs & 16 for England = 65 apps

I hope City go for him again next year, so we can get Haaland, for me really not happy this deal didn't work out simply because City might reconsider making a move next year.

This is rather embarrassing for Kane and his brother agent.
Nothing new for Kane. He swore on his daughter's life about getting an extra goal to his kitty.
He also did not turn up for training and said "dont want to get into specifics" when he didn't get public support.

And anyways, he should have been embarassed to make his brother his agent. Got him to sign that s**ty deal with the devil.. err.. Levy

He did what?

Agree with this. There is a minimal chance of Haaland joining us when he already turned us down for Dortmund and, even if he did, he’d be agitating for a move within 2 years. Kane is the dream signing for us and will still be next summer as we should still get 4-5 years out of him at top level.

Stupid for Spurs. He is a declining asset and a player that doesnt want to be there. 130-150 is a good deal in this Covid market. They could spend the cash wisely and end up a better team. For example - 60 Martinez, 40 Saul if Man Utd, Chelsea dont go in for him, Traore 40 mill.

So this crazy contract he signed at Spurs has properly bitten him on the arse, as it should have.

Absolutely brain dead decision that was, why on earth he signed it when the world was his oyster, truly bizarre decision.

Daniel fecking Levy! Just screwed us over here. I was so hoping Citeh get Kane. Oh well, we await the Haaland auction next summer.

PR at time “look at how loyal Kane so different to other players these days “ and he thought it wouldn’t matter when the time came that he wanted to leave.

Most importantly if Pep really thought Kane was that player who would make a difference in the CL sf or final etc I think City would have paid the £150m

Has it been confirmed that City bid that much?

Would Spurs really turn down 150 million for a 28 year old player who wants to leave and is arguably not world class?
Romano said 130. So maybe not quite 150 but still a sht load

Sorry, but where does that replace the pretty much guaranteed 25 goals a season Kane gives you, in the players you've mentioned? You'd be lucky if you got 15 between them.

Show me the story there was an official bid of £150M, actually rumours are there was no official bid. Traore, goals,.

They've been there with Bale. Didn't go well. Nor us with Suarez.

It doesnt but I said they could end up a better team. City never had a 25 goal striker and did ok.

Its theoretical. Who knows how much was bid. Thats why I said 130-150. Even 120 ish they should have sold

Romano reported two "official" bids for Harry Kane.

That's Euros, can I ask why Romano gets so much credence on here? Most oh his "exclusives" are from other journalists. The story was Levy didn't even answer the phone. We didn't convince Harry to stay either, he didn't really have a choice.

Why? Who are these strikers who are gonna get any team around 25 PL goals a season. City don't have 1, United don't have one, a valued player.

For me, it's not about exclusivity. Most of the time, his reports basically confirm the bits of news from elsewhere and add substance to them. Levy may not have needed to be directly involved in rejecting those "bids" if they were submitted to Spurs in some way, shape, or form. Maybe they had an intermediary represent them to address this matter (which several clubs tend to do when dealing with difficult situations like this).

But you've just answered why they wouldn't do that. The could, they could quite easily not as well. They don't have to sell him, wont loose much money on him if they sold him next year and likely get one of the best strikers I'm Europe for another season.

City aren't exactly representative of Spurs and they're the bloody ones buying Kane!
