Harry Kane | Bayern Munich player

Ducker and The Telegraph used to be pretty on the ball - let's hope they are back on form

The account is called "TelegraphDuckar"

It's definitely a fake account. It is no followers and was created today!
The article is also from APRIL!

It's hard to believe we were ever at the top of his wishlist. And we certainly weren't after Bayern showed up. A 99% chance of winning the German League, high chances of competing in the Champions League, and add to that the respect for Tottenham fans (not playing for another English team). Can't get more manly than this

At the top of Harry's list was City, but that ship sailed without him. Bayern is a magnificent club which collects trophies in their sleep-- joining such a club isn't exactly manly. Why not PSG, which also walks through its domestic league and seeks CL glory? Harry properly demands massive wages (I have no idea how much Bayern would pay him but let's assume something close to what United would pay Harry), but there is no professional challenge in joining a club which is a lock to win the league trophy for what would be the 12th straight season. There is the Champions League and the CL is on every top footballer's bucket list, but for an Englishman there's nothing quite like winning the English Premier League.

As I said earlier in the thread, I think this will end with a mega new contract at spurs taking him up to retirement, best goalscorer ever award, statue in the cheese room and immortalised in carbonite until he can come back in the future as some sort of football terminator

Having a transfer strategy is important, but there are a few players that are worth moving heaven and earth to sign if you get the opportunity. Kane is one of those because he is as close to a sure thing as it is possible to sign. I see it as analogous to when Fergie signed Van Persie.

Hojlund has been bought for the future - expecting him to fire a team to a league title or a CL any time soon is unrealistic, and a huge amount of pressure to place on young shoulders. I remember the days when we had Cole, Yorke, Solskjaer and Sheringham, or when we had Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez and Fergie still went and signed Berbatov. I do think we still desperately need another centre-forward, we can't rely on Martial which means we are a single injury away from another Wout Weghorst situation.

Your view is absolutely reasonable, but it's ridiculous to describe people that would like to sign Kane now as idiotic. I'm absolutely certain Fergie would do everything in his power to sign Kane now if he was still in charge.

100% Fergie would be all over Englands best striker when we struggle to score goals!!

Please, please, for the Love of God please be true.

But really can’t see it happening now the money’s been spunked on Højlund.

There are two options to fund it NOW

Get Adidas to help fund move (think they subsidised Ronaldo wages)

Sacrifice some of next summer's budget

Personally think Utd are happy to play the long game whether that’s January for reduced fee (no chance) or next summer on a free IF he doesn't sign

Can we just respect how utterly brilliant Daniel Levy has played this one? He now can't lose with this.

Kane wants to leave on a free? Well Levy accepted a monster bid, Kane's the villain now
Kane signs on for more misery? Levy kept his man.
Kane leaves for £100m with a year left on his deal? Deal.
Kane leaves for free but delivers a.... trophy? Wins all round.

Levy delays the inevitable so much that his manager can’t reinvest or replace his star man adequately before the season starts and Spurs finish mid-table?

If he refuses to go then surely even his mates in the media will stop making him a victim of his trophy less career.

His poor decision making has caused it, nothing more nothing less.

What if Spurs finish 9th win nothing and Kane leaves on a free ?
Which is looking the most likely scenario atm.

Briehave yourself

Early July.

Kane : I wanna go.
Levy : Ha ! only if we receive a insane fee. (God, I hope we get a insane fee).

Early August.

Levy : I accepted a insane fee.
Kane : I don't wanna go
Levy : Son.of.a.b*tch.

Well... that's covered by Kane staying on, to only leave for a free. You can easily spend £100m in 20 days in August. Levy's shaded the blame here to Kane for me.

He's dealt with it horrendously.

They either keep him to see our his contract which is the most basic option and what would have happened if he did nothing. Kane will never be looked at as the villain by spurs fans (who despise Levy) check their forums.

Or he's selling his best player far too late in the window for the new manager to find any type of replacement.

Last option is Kane has such a soft spot for spurs he signs a contract which would be nothing to do with Levy's handling of the situation this summer.

I'm not quite sure why some people here think we should'nt look to sign kane because we have hojlund. Personally I think we still need a new striker regardless of how hojlund performed and hojlund is still a kid, asking him to lead our line could backfired badly both for him and the club. The level of scrutiny at this club is unforgiven and it might be too heavy for a 20 years old kid with 1 year experience of top level football, furthermore Fergie would never go into new season with an inexperienced kid as leading our line, even in summer 2006 when we sold Ruud we still had Saha and Ole around and went on to sign Larsson on loan.

Smart move. He waits another year and sings for a Prem team. Gets to play for a CL side, gets his pay day and stays on track to break the all time Prem top scorer record.

Think we can only call him a bottle job if he signs a new contract for Spurs.

I agree, i think Levy has played it well considering Kane has all the cards.

You're missing though...

Kane leaves for free in 2024 and Spurs win noting and finish outside the top 4. Massive loss for Levy.

Something will happen just before season starts. I'm thinking a one year extension so everyone's happy.

Well this thread is certainly active, to say so many United fans don't want the club to bid for him (of course you don't).

Have there been a lot of Utd fans here saying we don't want us to sign for him?

Mostly just those saying we don't think that we will sign him.
