Harry Kane | Bayern Munich player

There's definitely something going on. Levy and Kane's disagreement makes it seem that Kane has told him he isn't signing a new contract and isn't joining Bayern, if we are seriously interested in Kane now is the time to pounce.

C'mon Glazers. You've done zero good to us for 18 years. Shell out for Kane.

To those who don't want us to because of age/contract situation. He's Harry Kane, one of the best strikers/players in the world and we've just signed an understudy to learn from him who also needs a load of pressure taken off him. Having both would be perfect.
To be fair they already shelled out for a kid with a bad back...

Kane knows that United are just waiting for the McFred/Baz sales to complete and they will trump Bayern's offer.

I don't understand why he doesn't just wait until his contract is up then he will have the pick of clubs across Europe and can create a bidding war to bump up his sign on fee and wage. While also adding more PL goals to get closer to Shearers record.

Given we have a striker in now don’t you think an agreement to do the deal in Jan would be more likely..

That makes no sense, Bayern would have spoken to kane via his agent or intermediaries before getting into negoitations with levy. If kane hadnt given his OK for the move then they wont have bothered.
He is conflict averse and has nonproffessional rep. Bad cocktail.

great news for us if he stays one more year at Spuds and we can potentially get him on a free next season.

Pretty sure that is what he's doing.

Most likely ends up at Utd. Maybe Madrid. Small chance he stays at Spurs.

Make of this what you want but reports from early this summer seem we wanted a young striker and one that can fit in right now. Preferably Kane. It all depends on if we have the budget. I'd take Kane this season if it means not making many signings next season. When opportunities like this open up you have to take them. Fergie would've been all over this.

It all depends on if we have enough leeway in terms of ffp and enough budget to make it work.

We can’t do it in January. The end of the season.

I forgot about that, english clubs can't sign precontracts with PL players? Which measn that the usual suspects will have months to get an agreement with him.

After being underpaid for such a long time I don't see why he wouldn't be tempted to net a £30M+ signing on fee next season.

You say that but that's a whole year of Levy arm-twisting. If he stays this year he will sign a new contract.

Don't you reckon Levy has been trying for the last 12 months?

I see no reason he will make a decision that is worse for his career and his bank balance just because Levy tries to tempt him a few times.

A bit similar to Mbappe, it's re-sign or we have to sell stance. The majority owner at Spurs above Levy has already said to sell if it means losing him for free and finally Bayern put in a good offer.

Perhaps United could go in with a bid close to Bayern's with the pressure to sell at Spurs if Kane isn't re-signing but I doubt we have the funds.

Bayern has possibly left it too late, I said it have to be around £100m and they've wasted a month trying to be cute.

Its perfectly normal if he doesnt want to leave England.. I have no idea what his agreement with bayern is, but it does look like he wants to stay in England and move to a bigger club.

I also don't think he'll screw Spurs over.. so if someone goes in with a good enough bid from England, he might push for it.. if not and he ends up staying, he'll probably sign some extension .

Absurdity at it's finest.... Kane's team (/his brother) have clearly indicated he wanted the move to Bayern for them to go again this big, this late. But they must've thought Levy wouldn't have accepted it at all for them to so uncertain now

There's no way anything else is playing on his mind here. Moving his family or making that work is a doddle, and realistically the decision is the same if it was June or July. He mustn't really want Bayern that much... and I'd be removing the bid now if I was them.

As I said earlier in the thread, I think this will end with a mega new contract at spurs taking him up to retirement, best goalscorer ever award, statue in the cheese room and immortalised in carbonite until he can come back in the future as some sort of football terminator

Not at all, I am only stating exactly what I said then. Not because it is genius or requiring amazing thinking, but because it requires a bit of balance and patience, which fans don't have around transfers. It's about a new toy right now and there's never any thought of what the big picture is. We have managed to strengthen our overall squad significantly this summer with probably at least one more to come and that's because we didn't follow the advice of people on here that were quite happy entering into a summers worth of negotiation over Harry Kane with a prospective 100-120 million fee at the end of it. We'd still be sat here with our dick in our hands negotiating with Daniel Levy if the fans in this thread were the decision makers and our squad would be all the weaker for it.

Who cares if he's not fit for a few weeks, that doesn't enter into a transfer strategy. It's not a desperate situation as you describe it.

You can say that for many a player. "If you have the opportunity to sign Sanchez, or Pogba." Probably the type of thinking that guided many of our transfer blunders over recent years. We want to sign Harry Kane but we're going to attempt it in a more responsible way than the abject thinking that hindered us in the past. That means getting around Levy, removing him from the equation, using persuasion and influence to get it done rather than cheque books. If it doesn't work out it doesn't work out, it won't harm us because we've still been in a position to make all of our moves in the market. Harry Kane is just a plan, not the whole plan, and I think that's why we've still been able to operate effectively rather than those summers of endless, fruitless pursuits, overpaying, and panic stations at the end.
Having a transfer strategy is important, but there are a few players that are worth moving heaven and earth to sign if you get the opportunity. Kane is one of those because he is as close to a sure thing as it is possible to sign. I see it as analogous to when Fergie signed Van Persie.

Hojlund has been bought for the future - expecting him to fire a team to a league title or a CL any time soon is unrealistic, and a huge amount of pressure to place on young shoulders. I remember the days when we had Cole, Yorke, Solskjaer and Sheringham, or when we had Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez and Fergie still went and signed Berbatov. I do think we still desperately need another centre-forward, we can't rely on Martial which means we are a single injury away from another Wout Weghorst situation.

Your view is absolutely reasonable, but it's ridiculous to describe people that would like to sign Kane now as idiotic. I'm absolutely certain Fergie would do everything in his power to sign Kane now if he was still in charge.

I admit I have no idea what Charlie is thinking.
We may have all understimated him all along.

Ducker and The Telegraph used to be pretty on the ball - let's hope they are back on form

Whoever gets him will get a good 4-5 years out of him. This isnt the beer swilling 60's anymore, 30 is not even that old for this day and age.

I'd def go for him if there is a chance as i get the feeling he doesnt really want to move abroad.

Absolute scenes when he ends up rejecting Bayern and remains with Tottenham for his entire career.

This doesn’t make sense, Bayern is not even his first choice.

Kane is holding all the aces. He‘s got Levy by the bollocks (who sucked him into a six year deal with wages well below what he should have been earning) ….Kane owes Spurs nothing!

If Kane left on a free any club would pay him £500k per week plus a fat signing on fee. Surely logic says he should stay at Spurs and take his pick next season.

Can’t believe Kane could be so stupid or desperate to do otherwise.

Surely, Bayern had the go ahead from the Kane camp before they bid?
Surely we had the go ahead from the DeJong camp before we bid for him. Sometimes plans change. Maybe his family have had second thoughts about relocating, maybe Harry thinks the English language is hard enough without having to learn German too. Maybe he’s a closet brexiteer
