Harry Kane | Bayern Munich player

Tragic little fella if he signs a new deal.

If he signs a new deal, again, Levy must have photos of Kane doing the weirdest shit imaginable.

I’d love to be wrong. Would love to have him at Bayern. But before he actually signs, I will expect him to remain where he is.

If he doesn’t leave this window, it doesn’t mean he wants to stay there.

But, if he doesn’t go to Bayern now, you won’t get him on a free - he’ll stay in the PL or go to Real (which he could still do this window…).

It’s now or never for Bayern and Kane.

I saw a good quote in the Celebrity Death thread from Sinead O’Conner saying that after she ripped up the Pope photo, she was only denied the career her publicists and marketers wanted her to have. That she personally didn’t want to take that road and had the career that she envisioned for herself.

If Kane lacks ambition and enjoys being the big fish in the small pond, that’s ok!

It’s frustrating to see such a good player never play for a giant of the game, but if he signs his deal and is happy training and playing for Tottenham with no pressure or expectations, that’s ok!

In a world with so many worries and anxiety post-Covid, maybe people have to start accepting that the ‘obvious’ choice isn’t always the best one for every person in every situation.

If he is genuinely happy, why not?
My thinking precisely. Which is why I really dislike posts suggesting he’d waste his career if he doesn’t move. It’s his career. He should do with it, whatever he wants. And if what he wants is to be an undisputed legend at Tottenham, so be it. Good for him on achieving that. I respect that he stayed there for so long. I would respect it if he never left. That’s just love for his club. It makes him happy. I don’t see how a career spent happily at one’s beloved club could be considered a waste.

Look mate, this is an United forum : You're telling us not to co-opt vicariously the supposed greatness of our club and belittle people as small time like teenage scorned lovers ? And that a player might be happy with just being in the top 2% best paid people in the world instead of the top 1% and because he feels settled ?
Just affectionate self depreciation.
Banter aside Spurs fans can make him a statue if he signs an extension.

Security would be my guess.

Going into the final year of your contract with no guarantee beyond that year is risky at the best of times but especially at his age.

What if he suffers a bad injury?

Yes there’s a potential significant financial reward at the end of it, but I can understand wanting to secure another 4 years now, albeit securing that with Spurs definitely adds an element of doubt. He must surely want out.

True, his age is the big factor isn't it. But even a bad injury, he's still Kane at 31, teams would give him silly money.

If he renews with Spurs but doesn't get a conditional release clause included then he should sack his brother.

Come on Harry, stay at Spurs and pull a Sol next summer .

Spurs fans would riot.

He’s staying, he knows Qatar are buying the club now that the owner has been caught being a very naughty boy.

Indeed, a clause along the lines of “if Spurs fail to secure CL qualification I can leave for a transfer fee of £Xm” would be ideal for him if he is to renew.

He’s in a very strong negotiating position at the moment, but needs to actually play his hand.

Because Kane would rather stay in England given the choice I think, next summer every top club in the country will be in for him if he’s out of contract.

Would love him to still be on market next summer, however Bayern get the deal done when they aggressively chase a player

Don't fancy him at Utd next summer then?
honestly i think if they don't sell him this summer at some point during the season he will resign and end his career at Spurs.....just don't see him leaving there on a free next summer

Tottenham is acting as if Kane has 2 or 3 years left on his contract, absolutely ridiculous and delusional demands.

He would be utterly mad to re sign again

If he’s on a free next Summer, why do you think he’ll come to Utd…?

Utd have just bought a CF for £65m +, and next summer that guy will be a year into his Utd stay. Unless Højlund is a complete flop I can’t see Kane coming into the same team.

Kane plays every minute of every meaningful game, everyone knows this. It would mean Højlund playing very little or playing them both… which I can’t see.

I would’ve thought those that were rabid keen for Hojlund understood that signing him for that much makes it incredibly unlikely that Kane comes in.

Indeed that’s exactly WHY many of the less enthusiastic fans weren’t so into signing this lad, myself included. It’s not a dislike of Højlund, it’s not wanting to miss out on Kane.

If Kane goes on a free, Chelsea and Arsenal will be strong favourites mate - he’s a Londoner who Loves the city, he’s also a lifelong Arsenal fan.

He may sign but with a buyout clause, so that Tottenham don’t lose him on a free next summer.

But seeing his last contract, he’d be stupid enough to accept Levy’s word for it again.

I still think we would be interested

Right, and where do you see that leaving Højlund?

Impact sub? League cup games?

Kane is a 90 minute man who plays every meaningful game.

Højlund isn’t some cheap punt - he’s a £65m + CF.

Seems you want to have your cake and eat it tbh.

Remember he is still Erik's top target but you do make a very valid point, however he will probably join Bayern late in this window

don't disagree....i think he'd be foolish to sign again but given his age and another year on the tires he may not get a bigger contract coming in as a free next summer. Probably a 2 year deal with an option for a 3rd year.

this is probably the bigger reasoning is simply his loyalty to spurs and having been there for so long....he won't want them to miss out on a transfer fee that could help them bring in a player or two to help the club...he would show loyalty where Levy hasn't

This is very true. A player like Kane you clear the path for them by getting either a too old or too young cheap sub for him because Kane plays every minute, Bayern has Chupo and Tel. Madrid has cleared the path for Mbappe by getting Joselu
I don't see how Hojlund or Kane can coexist in the same team. Its the same situation with Haaland and Alvarez. Why is no one looking at Alvarez?

I've got a feeling we could still go for assuming spurs bungle up his sale to bayern and we get some cash in through outgoings.

Very unlikely however.

Yeah it's next summer or never as won't get enough to fund a move late in this window

What’s spurs’ plan if they sell Kane? He’s the only reason they had a chance at being in the top half of the table last season.

Its a non starter now We have actively decided not to pursue Kane anymore , United Paying over 60 m for Hojlund is the clearest indication of that We have made Our Choice and Unless Hojlund flops completely we wont be bringing Kane even if he is on free or another big money youngster like Ferguson either next season .

I wouldn't rule out move IF he is on a free

So do i. Utd were briefing the press that ETH ideally wanted a young striker and a experienced striker.

However it depends if hojlund hits 20/25 goals then would utd still want kane?

That security worry is what probably led him to sign a 6 year contract and be in this position. Realistically he can negotiate a transfer for next year now and sign a deal in 5 months time. So its not even a full year that he has to wait for.

Unless he really fancies Bayern, he is mad not to stay a year and see his options.

Reckon he does really fancy them

Somehow I really can't see Harold moving abroad. If he ends up leaving he strikes me as the type who gets homesick and returns to the PL within 12 months.

Probably back to Spurs, but could be United. But it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up staying at Spurs.

Where we getting £100m we can't even sell Fred let alone Maguire,McTominay and others
Don’t come at me with reality.

I said hope :wenger:

All seriousness we won’t sign him after our most recent outlay.

Im not even sure we’ll want to on a free in the summer.
