Harry Kane | Bayern Munich player

I just don't see Levy agreeing to any kind of sale of Kane to Utd.

I think he'd even take a much lower offer from Bayern than one from us, he thinks we're major rivals.

Yeah his deluded belief in this rivalry is one of the main reasons we ended interest back in June

being all time scorer is nice but will be superseeded at one point, titles remain and afaik he hasn't won any yet?!

i never imagined i would see Schweinsteiger ever leave Bayern, or T.Müller, or G.Müller, for that matter :D Shit happens...

Even if he ends his career with no trophies at all, to be the all time England top scorer, and all time Premiership top scorer, is one hell of an achievement, one that would be more impressive than winning a couple of German titles imo.

I know someone said people are been disrespectful to the German league and Bayern, but it's not really that, it's just really hard to get my head around why he would walk away from the Premiership now, when he has finally put himself in a postion where he holds all the cards over Levy, to the point where I just can't see any reason for it happening.

I mean I might be wrong but I very much doubt he has held a life long desire to join Bayern, much like Schweinstegier probably didn't really for United, but in any case he was in decline and Bayern knew exactly what they were doing with that one, very different circumstances with Kane.

Is he asking less from bayern? I can understand Levy being extortionate, doesn't make sense from him.

Bayern are known for not paying high transfer fees but having one of the highest wage bills in Europe. Their very top players (Lewa, Muller) were or are paid more than anyone at United (Ronaldo aside, when he was here).. They can also easily afford the 100m fee if they're happy to set a precedent for themselves in terms of transfer spending.

I don't see Bayern paying him anywhere even close to that.
Bayern pay big wages from what I've read. Mane who turned out to be a bad signing for them was reportedly on close to £400k a week.

Theres no way he can have been expecting 575k a week.

He certainly isnt going to be getting that at Bayern either.

I think he'll definitely leave this summer, but Levy will do the usual of making it take so long that it fecks with Spurs preparation for the new season. The strikers market is pretty dry as it is. They don't need to be desperate in the last week of the window with all the clubs knowing they have a 100m to spend. The right thing to do is to sell to Bayern now and get someone else in as soon as possible.

If he was genuinely asking for that amount in wages, right decision to avoid him. If he wanted a move to us, he’d have asked for wages that made the move possible (outside of dealing with Spurs)

see now that would be insanity....25m in salary per season so his total cost would be close to 200m on a 4 yr contract. mental to do that at his age
Kane is a fantastic player but I was glad we didn't get into silly games with Levy. I also don't think we were only a world class striker away from winning the league like some and I'm happy we went for a younger project and are attempting create a more even spread of goals by attempting to play higher up the pitch.

This signing makes more sense for Bayern who have the players to control games and transitioning quickly and Kane would be joining a club as the missing piece after they'd lost Lewandowski.

I agree with this. We have to take a longer term view to squad building than we have in the recent past. One which requires constant rebuilds. Kane is a wonderful player, but a 100m plus for a 30 year old, not to mention the astronomical 4-5 year contractual commitment, wouldn’t have been a prudent move for where we are currently. As you say, if he was the final piece in the puzzle, I can see it, but he wasn’t for us. He was one of 3-4 more pieces required, and by the time we got the others in place, he could very well be on a real decline, or we’d have others that would need replacing. Makes much more sense for Bayern.

I still hold the belief that we'll be in for him once we have made some sales.

For some reason Kane doesn't seem the type to demand such a high wage fee. Spurs ain't paying nowhere near that if he renews either.

I'm pleased we're passing this one by. Stupidly expensive, short term, and I don't see him fitting us or any top club very well. He needs to be the undisputed focal point of a team.

He's only "close" cause they are having a meeting to talk about it. Far from a deal.

I might as well say
"Kane wants United as he wants to be a mentor for the next generation in Højlund."
pretty coincidental timing this comes out after united has a deal announced to be in place for Hojlund
Yeah the article just states that Bayern hope a deal can be agreed.

That being said, hope we go in for him. Can't just let him go and not at least try and go in for him

no chance we go in for him without having MAJOR sales....ie fred, scott, maguire

but then we would have to bring in a CM

Of course, i think we can get Amrabat without selling, but most likely once Fred is sold

That being said, if we can off load Maguire and Scott and get fees in principle for Henderson (talk of Loan with obligation to buy in Jan) then I think we'll go in for Kane.

Feels a bit underwhelming seeing him end up at Bayern after all this time but at least he'll finally win trophies.

They should be one of the big favorites in the Champions League this season with him in the team.

Maybe we can still work something out whenever he does want to come back to the Prem in a few years.

Any idea how much Bayern have offered Kane, is it anywhere near the 575k pw bandied about above?

Unsurprisingly, there is no reason that info would be shared. If that is what they’ve offered, it may explain why Kane is prepared to go there. 2 years on that and he probably feels he can come back to the premier league, with a few trophies, and still pick up the premier league record (he will obviously be sacrificing the all-time record but I wouldn’t be certain he even knows about that).

Two years ago Neuer and Lewandowski were our only players at/a bit above 20 Million euros. Mane got 22 according to reports.

So i would imagine we would offer Kane anything between 22 to 25 million euros but certainly not 30 million pounds. It would destroy our whole wage structure.

I always find it funny how you say "all time record" when in fact its a quite arbitrary "since 1992" record.

Many of you say that record would be more important than winning a Bundesliga title.
And even though i think this record is a bit stupid i tend to agree with you on that because i recognize how big of a topic it is for english people.

But i think that Kane mainly wants to join us because he thinks we have a good chance to win the CL again in the next years.
And maybe, its a big MAYBE, he could even have a shot at the Ballon d'or if he wins the CL with us next year and the english team does very well at the EC 24.

Come on Levy keep fecking Bayern around,we want a chance to pick him up next summer

Munich 75m Manchester 120m ish or not at all, that the numbers , No point in even worrying about it .
