@Real Name I think Bayern managed high pressing though with Lewa (can't say I watched them too much so can't say for sure), so who knows?

I'm just really concerned we could see another season where the signing does well, but the effect on what the team is trying to achieve is a negative.

Why would Kane, who is only a few years away from becoming the premier leagues all time top goal scorer give that incredible legacy up to play in Germany to have the best shot at a CL title? He will win a German title for sure at a club that won the league 10 in a row. It doesn't make sense to me.

MMmm going to a top 2 club in Europe going by the last 10+ years or ever, club that sells more shirts than any other club and will clearly be a top betting favorite with him in the fold for the Champions League which is THE title footballers actually care the most about is going to be the worst decision? You are living in a weird Premier League bubble I think.

Kane is 30, he has limited years left, throwing away an entire year to be stuck at Spurs is a bad decision when he has the opportunity he has.

Nah he already made that when he signed that silly deal with Spurs last time. The worst decision he could make now would be to sign a new contract with them.
With Bayern, at least, he is guaranteed to get silverware. And given his personality I am quite sure the Bayern fans would love him.
 
It stinks of a Hojlund negotiations tactics, see Atalanta we can have Kane for 100m only he was 30m per year. However getting Kane would make us a genuine title contender, not other gettable player can do that at this moment.

I think he'd work well in ETH system. And if we can give us 2, 3 years it would be 3 years with a world class striker upfront.

Benzema's 35 so that's not exactly relevant. Rooney's lifestyle took his longevity, RVP was always a gamble as he was injury prone throughout his career. Zlatan was scoring around a goal a game in his 30s. I think people forget he was 35 when he came to United. Judging by other strikers Kane arguably has another 3/4 seasons at the top and could go on a little longer.

Agree at least three imo. Once he turns 33 it's kinda hard to be sure. But given his lifestyle and being a top pro there's a big chance that he would have 2/3 years left after that imo.

I really do think Kane has an interest in Shearer's record.
 
Given the news on the owner's demands, i'm more confident now that he's going either to PSG or Bayern this summer because I don't think he's going to sign an extension and Spurs will not sell to a PL team.

He surely will be best paid player at Utd. Haaland allegedly earning around 40 million, Neymar 30 million, Lewandowski 30 million, the likes of Debruyne, Muller around 20 million.

I think we will pounce once a deal is agreed with Bayern, we will know Levy's acceptable number, we can then bid X +20-30% on top and see if he takes that. If not, no worries but at least we tried.

What if Kane refuses to go abroad. Kane admits he is dreaming about breaking Shearers all-time Premier League goals record. This situation is all of Daniel Levy's own making as he could have sold him for a substantial fee last time around, but like Mbappe at PSG, Kane can sign a pre-contract with any club from January 1st 2024, and there is nothing Chairman Levy can do about it. There's NO way Levy and Lewis would give away an 100mil asset for free next year. If United hit 100m Spurs have to snap their hands off. Whatever road Spurs take he's joining the club of his choice now or leaving for nothing in 12 months.

No, it would be for Atlanta/player to see the risks of delaying this too much lest United go somewhere else. So negotiate more earnestly.
 
Don't like the idea of Kane earning astronomical wages over and above the likes of casamiero, Varane and rashford. We are making an incredible effort to bring squad harmony and not give out stupid contracts to high profile players, who are pushing 30 and with no resale value. It has time and again left us in tricky situations.

We won't challenge for the title this season nor the season after. We're a team in progress, Kane won't make us title challengers.

Sure, with Kane we will do well in the cups and getting that top 4 spot, but with a transfer fee around 100m and his salary over 300k for a player who turns 30 in July, I'd rather sign an up-and-coming striker.

The Premier League started in 1992. I don’t know when these other leagues records have stood for. But from my existence I haven’t seen anyone in Serie A score so many goals and in La Liga if we exclude CR7 & Messi the same stands.

Also I don’t get why so many people are downgrading this. It’s a record that has stood for quite some time and never has someone been so close to it still in their prime.

I don’t understand this perspective. We have top quality everywhere except RB and CF. Kane would get us in a position to challenge. Depth is a little weak in some positions, I’ll give you that, but still, we can get very close if we get a productive striker.
 
The amount of money involved to get Kane would be insane. Why would we spend 100m on a player in his 30s who would also demand a sky-high wage?
 
Mount, Onana and potentially Kane.

That's serious business it they can get it done. I expect Onana to totally change the way we play at the back and it will only benefit the defenders.

Kane for a short time would elevate us to title contenders.

Erm it’s not a joke, because it’s the Premier League - the toughest and most watched league in world football. Not some farmers league like the Bundesliga.

It’s nonsense when people say he will go to Bayern because it’s guaranteed to win him trophies. They’re not the type of trophies he will want to win.
 
He would be transformative for us, with Kane we might end up 2nd or maybe who knows have a proper go.

The main problem we had last season was goals our defensive record was pretty decent

Tbh I don't think Hojlund would fancy the idea to come here and being a backup with some odd game here and there. At the current stage of his career he must play regularly. Then it's unlikely we'd have the money for both. So we gotta pick one. For me Kane is simply a no brainer.

The signing of Kane will financially hamstring United's ability to finance future transfers, just like De Gea did. We have to have a long term plan and slowly build up our team. We won't become League champions the next two years and then Kane is already 32 years old on astronomical wages. Why the hurry?

Arsenal signing Kane would greatly improve their title aspirations to be fair, because they are almost at the end of the rebuilding process. Not United, not us.

If the sums were reasonable then maybe but if the money he is reported to be looking for is correct, around 500k then it's far, far too much. It would destroy the dressing room spirit that ETH has worked to rebuild. That might have been slightly less insane if clubs were not being asked to pay around 100m for a 30-year-old on top of that.
There's no question he would be a great signing but paying record sums for players in their 30s is the opposite of what we want to be doing.

Tell that to Bayern fans, or Germans. That winning Bundesliga means nothing.

He also has the best chance of winning UCL there, with Real not being interested in him.

Going to United, Chelsea or Newcastle might easily means that his career would be trophy-less or be content with some League Cup. From his point of view, joining those teams might look like a sideways move (and let’s be honest here, we have won a League Cup in the last 6 years so not a massive upgrade on Spurs).

I personally think Kane signing would be a game changer for Utd. I genuinely believe Harry Kane can make United title challengers. The transfer money is crazy but if United sold Van de Beek for 15 to 20 million, Maguire for 20 million, Fred for 20 million, Alex Telles 4 million, Antony Elanga 15 million and Mctomminay 20m, there we would have 95 to 100 million for Kane, and an extra 20 million in our budget from the 120 million that was made available after purchasing Mount and Onana. Pay 100 million upfront and 10 million with add on and get what we need so badly. Levy would be stupid to refuse that kind of money.

Haaland is allegedly earning around 900K, Neymar and Lewandowski are on 650K. God knows how much Mbappe is earning. 500K for Kane is not insane all things considered.
 
You gotta consider why he is keen to join Bayern. They are the only really interested team that could afford him atm. If there is any chance we can offer them a sneaky bid and Spurs would be willing to sell him to us (which is highly unlikely), I am pretty sure he would fancy a move to Old Trafford, because English players know what it means to play here, about the history of the club and he must also be aware of the project ETH has been building. He's got lots of national team mates like Shaw, Rashy or Mount. And on top he could break the Shearer record. With Kane I am confident that we would compete for the title, even though with smaller chances than City. So we could wait and see if Levy would change his mind, but that would probably mean we could lose Hojlund. So I guess we will go the safe way and get Hojlund and not waste our time with another blockbuster transfer saga that could end up losing Kane to Bayern.
