Hannibal Mejbri - Manchester United Player

The Grealish comparison does hold weight in the attacking third. But IMO, Mejbri also has a passing range which enables him to be dominant in the deeper phases of play, when it comes to building the play.
That's why I think he's almost a bit of a hybrid between Pogba and Grealish. He lacks Pogba's physicality but he's got a sumptuous passing range and very good vision, his pass against Blackburn was one of the assists of the season. For anyone interested in the assist it's for the second goal in this video:

I hope we don't loan him out next year. Paul has injury and suspension issues and Hannibal is the natural replacement. Hopefully we keep Diallo as well.
Hopefully we van get a good loan for Elanga

Samir Nasri?
Nasri is neat and tidy. But, Hannibal is like a glider when he makes ball-carrying run. As smoothly as you can demand. A different level of the whole package if he can fulfill his potential in pro football.

I try not to get too excited until the young lads have played a few times for the seniors, but this lad just gives me chills, he is something super special.

you know when a player just has IT, he has it.

Let's try to integrate him into the squad, a few early round cup appearances would be grand.

Monaco messed up in whatever happened between them and his parents, because United got a gem on their hands. I would have liked to see him with Atchouemani with Monaco, I'm sure he could have gotten a bit more playing time there by now, but if he's showing this kind of intent in the cameos he's given, I can see him getting more and more games under his belt at the professional level starting next season. I can almost already see him turning up for France at the Euro 2024.

He's a more nimble Modric. Which. makes him a hell of a player.

I think his future lies in midfield. He's had a lot of great performances at midfield, and the only reason why some feel he's better on the wing is because all of his recent (which has been a lot of matches) are all in that position. He did perform better in that position transition period on the wing, but that is too short to make any conclusions.

Bellingham was given game time at the Championship level where as Mejbri is playing at United. It was easier for Bellingham to be given the chance at first team level in England, and once he already had that experience, Dortmund had no problem giving him time.

Foden didn't play much at his age. Pogba didn't even play much for United at age 18. He's similar to Mejbri in that he was brought from France at age 16 and didn't get his debut until he was 18 at United. Didn't really get much chances until he went to Juve at age 19. Mejbri is 18. So Pogba is not an example of doing something Mejbri didn't. He had an impact at 19.5 years old, not 18.5. Many of us argue he could have done it at 18.5 years old if given more game time, but he was never given the chance and so we'll never know. Same with Hannibal.

Greenwood and Sancho are probably the best examples you can use. But it's not like Mejbri has been given the same minutes to prove himself at first team level. It's the coaches decision.

Maybe if he was given 2-3 starts (which would still be harsh) and then didn't do well, you could make that argument. It's incredibly harsh to simply make the argument based on one 15 min cameo.

I think you got my point wrong. I was in fact arguing that he should have been given more game time. I used other young players as example as how these players have got chance despite being 18-19 year old. I believe Hannibal is that good

The way they pronounce Shoretire has my ears grinding.

I remember reading somewhere that Monaco stuff actually misbehaved with Hannibal's Mother. Our french scout actually tried for a year to build relationship with his family which convinced them to come to United.

It was a good pass but against first team opposition in the PL, the defender would have cleared that ball in my opinion.

We've got some cracking youngsters coming through.
Thankfully, Ole is the right man to introduce them.

He reminds me of that former Spurs player, Mousa Dembélé. Quick feet.

The difference between Mejbri and Amad's performance seemed that the latter has a better grip of what is expected of him, and played with more purpose.
Really liked how crisp his passing was besides his ability to drive with the ball.
Hope he starts every game in pre-season and puts himself in first-team contention.

Easily the most ready youngster for senior football introduced this season. Mentality, strength, stamina, flair. There's a real Manchester united player there. Fingers crossed for him to go strong into preseason. He will skip VDB by the end of the next season, if he stays fit.

Alsowill be interesting which positions he will play, he's very all round so he can get a lot of chances. Prefer him in more advanced positions as a 10 or LAM -advanced playmaker as Pogba now but could get some minutes from the other "wing" too or just as an 8. Great players will find spot for themselves though.

Sometimes players break into the first team and look comfortable, most look like they're struggling to adapt to the pace of the game. Mejbri looked completely at home. Hopefully he gets some minutes next season.

The next step for this side is to stop turning so many games into desperate chases and have upwards of 10 games where the points are safe with half an hour to go. If we can manage that, I'm sure we'll see much more of Mejbri, Shoretire, Diallo and Elanga.

Surely deserved a place in the Final squad more than Grant or Bishop... or do we really need 4 keepers.
Part of the reason United have always succeeded in producing young players is the way they handle their development. We've had a few examples in recent years where we've deviated from that and given one or two of them too much too soon, which has given them the premature impression that they've already made it. Getting a squad space for a European final based on a 10 minute cameo in a dead rubber league game would be a step down that road for Mejbri.

Ultimately, if the coaching staff think the odd cameo is in his best interests, they're probably right.

That's what a lot of The Caf who don't watch the U23 games will not have had the pleasure of seeing yet - his long passing ability is crazy as well. He's the one I've really been itching to see play - so pleased for him. If it weren't for that incidental shoulder injury, I'm sure we would have seen more of him.

Agreed. The Grealish comparison begins and ends in the attacking third. He has potentially more strings to his bow than Grealish, who is a brilliant player in the final third.

If he gets game time early on in the season I think he'll play himself into the team.

The below pic is the story of his career at United thus far. But he did get a free kick for the foul below.

Was thinking the same. He could develop in a number of positions, and from what I've seen his workfare is pretty good too but maybe a more regular viewer of youth games can confirm this?
I have no idea what his defensive awareness is like either, but that's something he can learn...

Needs work, but same could be said of every player in that U23 side, and at this age, that part of the game can be developed. Offensively though, he's a dream.

Are you sure? He is eligible for Tunisia because of his father, but he was born in France, raised up in France, and represent France U-16 and U-17
Yeah, he's declared for Tunisia, think Dominic Booth confirmed it.
