Doesn’t seem to be in Ten Hag’s thoughts. The reports of Mainoo’s injury impacting McTominay’s departure underlines that. He is an obvious choice to at the very least provide cover until Mainoo returns. We shouldn’t be looking to ignore 40m for Scott with Hannibal around, who likely would do no worse.

He doesn’t seem to be in EtH’s plans for this year but I don’t think Mainoo or McT have much to do with that. Hannibal would be in competition with Mount, Bruno and Eriksen. If one of them gets injured we’d be glad of Hannibal, but it really looks like he’s going to be farmed out again.

My hunch is that he doesn’t do what he’s told. He looks good to me but signs are EtH doesn’t like him - probably he’s not enough of a team player yet. Needs to show maturity to impress EtH.

I think he needs another loan. He's a good player and I think he would prove to be a good rotational option this season. However, he is behind Bruno, Mount and Eriksen, probably also Amrabat if that transfer is successful.

Send him to a Euro/Championship team where he starts regular games and he could potentially replace Eriksen as a regular squad player next season.

But at any rate, 6million for Kovar is not good business. City sold their academy goalie for 15miillion. Kovar help Sparta win their league title.
Agree. After these many years of transfer operations post-Fergie, everyone does transfer with us insisting we will always sell low buy high. We are anti-matters of this football world.

A PL move, where he would probably play a lot.

Apparently, some other clubs from Europe interested as well, But I guess we want him to experience PL footy.

Him and Chong. We're gonna look stylish whilst we get knocked the feck out every week at least.

If he is loaned, happy it is to another premiership side rather than abroad or the championship and could be a big player for Luton.

Personally I would rather see him stay, still think he offers a better option as a back up to both Mount and Fernandes over Eriksen at this point. His energy and first touch is first class already, he just needs to harness other areas. On one hand I really think he could be a break out player HERE...on the other though, if we sig another cm which I dont think we need (cb and second striker more important), he probably isnt going to get opportunities.

At least we can see how he does first hand if he goes to Luton on loan. I want him to do well as I think he has everything purely playing wise to be an excellent player

I guess the thought process would be that he won't get that many minutes as he would likely be 1 of 6 or 7 options in the midfield and we are trying to work Mainoo in there too. Luton would probably start him every game although I am concerned as to his role and whether it will be another season of hoofball as he had at Birmingham, Feyenoord might have offered a better technical level which might be more valuable but I would hope ETH and Fletch will do their homework before approving a move.

Be brilliant to get a PL loan move. I can't see him starting there for a while but I'm sure he'll get weekly gametime.

If he goes I think he will be neat and tidy, basically what Pereira was when he was out on loan as a youngster. You need more than that and a few rash challenges to stay in the Utd midfield. I’m not saying I don’t think he has a high level in him but if he wasn’t lighting up the championship I’m not sure what he’s going to show in the PL on loan.

If teams play kick and rush Liverpool style football, bypassing the midfield, then it's quite hard to impress, especially when you don't really know your own body and game yet. I think it's a good move if Luton will play him. Minutes > watching pretty triangles from the bench or dicking on no mark defenders every week.

He's done well everytime he's been given a opportunity in preseason. For me I'd be giving him a chance to be back up to either Bruno or Mount for the season ahead. He again showed today that not only does he provide the intensity but also has the ability to receive passes on the half turn and evade pressure.

I can also see the benefit of a loan move but I would ratger see us give Hannibal a chance than anyone of VdB, Fred or McTominay.

ten Hag doesn't fancy him at all, does he?

45 mins against Lyon, Leeds and Bilbao, 90 mins against Wrexham. I think it is clear that Mejbri isn't in Ten Hag's thoughts for this season at least, given there were games against Arsenal, Real Madrid and Dortmund that would have given a better indication of whether he is ready or not.

That and buying Mount.

I don't see a path for Mejbri while Ten Hag is manager. It's no use being back-up to the club captain who plays every minute.

Really don’t get why he isn’t amongst the first team, he has real quality. I think because he’s playing with the second string team he’s almost trying too hard to impress, almost forcing things that aren’t there.

Would love to see him play in the Eriksen role alongside Casemiro.

Completely agree. I am surprised Ten Hag doesnt want him in the first team squad with his talk of being a big side in transition as he has really good energy and techique, I think his first touch is up there with the best players at the club. He is still raw and a loan to luton coudl do wonders.....but I also think minutes here would do and he could have a role to play, especially with others moving on, Eriksen being done for me....and it is Mounts first season, premiership experience or not, Chelsea success or not....it abig move and pressure for him and his first season. Think Mainoo and Hannibal between them offer good young options for all three midfield positions

I was certain he'd make a difference if he came on, the boy is quality. Not sure why EtH is so hesitant with him. I wonder if he feels he needs to play those on the way out, to put them in the shop window.

Problem with some of these older bench players (looking at you DVB) is they're not really doing much to inspire buyers! :nervous:

Yeah, I thought this would be his make or break preseason, but he hasn’t been given the consideration of someone who was intended to feature this upcoming campaign, or he’s doing things that the manager doesn’t like.

Can’t see it working out for him here, by the looks of things. Would have liked to see him given the chance to sink or swim before being sent on his way, which I don’t think is going to happen.

I think he is too immature right now and needs a loan in the prem this year. I 100% see a player there though, he needs game time.

He's simply not ready to the level we need to imo. But it's a bit too soon to say he has no future under ETH I think. Eriksen is getting old and Mount hasn't been really great imo. Mejbri doesn't need to be better than Bruno, he only needs to be better than Mount as a hybrid 8.

Atm he has the all raw materials like physical attributes, energy, techniques and a very good attitude but still lacks the brain and a bit finesse to play as a hybrid #8 imo.

It's obvious that ETH wants his two central midfielders to be dynamic and box-to-box. Hannibal fits that profile.

He's only 20y.o. so he has plenty of time.

He needs to further his education and improve his tactical discipline further. He can then start to chip away at Bruno's minutes in a season or two (at 22y.o) when Bruno starts to slow down or is injured. Succession planning.

Yeah his pressing/running is really something. Definitely needs to learn how to play midfield. Hopefully an Amad style loan where he can blossom one of the best players in the Champo and then he can get his first year of top level football in Ligue 1 or the Prem before becoming a first team player here.

He seems to have almost never touched the ball for Birmingham, if they have the same manager hopefully it won't be there. Southampton played lovely stuff and pressed to win it back immediately in their opener; if Ward-Prowse and Lavia go this week and they're down to barebones in midfield that would be an intriguing one, though they'd probably re-invest the money on a player more likely to help them get promoted.

Feels like he is just missing a bit on his final balls to be impactful for us. If I have to be very neutral at his current level he falls into the category of "wouldn't mind keeping him in the squad, but not very bothered if he wasn't kept". I do have an impression that ETH is thinking something along that line, might be rate him slightly higher than Garner was but that's about it. Obviously only 20 so we can still work something out.

Definitely prefer him than someone like VdB though.

As much as he has all the tools in the world to be a successful midfielder I feel like he sometimes struggles to put it all together at once. As much as I like a player who has the mindset to press naturally I think he can be tunnel vision, which then affects his composure.

It was mentioned earlier that he is almost trying to force things and I think once he settles down and finds his role he can shine for us.

He just needs to be trusted and given some opportunities I reckon. The kid is talented, I think he could surpass Mount in a couple of years if he is just allowed to play.

Sounds like Fred VDB and McT are all going. Eriksen is on his last legs I think so Mejbri defo has a role at Utd. A loan until Jan might help him. He needs to play.

Really confused about if we're going to replace VDB with him and ETH even rate him to keep him OR he'll be sent out on loan again ?
