Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy

It's a fecking amazing album. It gets a special red flag and a fantastic score of 11/10.

It's so much better than any other new album out there. In fact I would go so far as to say it's the best album of the year. feck your Killers, feck your Coldplay, feck your Keane, feck your Oasis. Bow down to proper artists and shut the feck up.

However having said that, it's not as good as Appetite for Destruction. Appetite for Destruction was hit after hit, In fact its full of more hits than 99.9% of bands could put on a greatest hits album.

This I love is a good ballad. Sounds great now (And I probably won't be able to stand it in a few months.)

Listening to the song a second time, Slash's absence is even more painful. I can only imagine what he could have done with song.

Maybe Liam isn't the best singer technically but he has done a shit load for Oasis in many respects, do you honestly think Oasis would be as big if Liam wasn't there generating publicty & making the papers every other week (especially in the 90's).

Actually I thought Liam was brilliant.

Now hear me out on this one. He had a style of singing that was so unique. To be fair, after a few albums it got boring because he didn't change his style and everything began to sound the same, but for the first 2 albums, and certain some songs off of the 3rd Liam played a very important part in the evolution of Oasis.

On a side note, I was out of a beer with my cousin on Sunday and he told me that one of the members of the band, think it was the bassis.......hadn't a clue how to play, so he learned the basics, played in front of thousands, decided he had enough and retired £16,000,000 later

Is this true ?

Hmmmm you have me intrigued. I came on this thread looking to see some reaction to the new GNR album and the thread turned into an arguement about Oasis. :wenger:

I can't feckin wait to hear it. I'm gonna go buy it, buy 12 beers, sit down in my living room some afternoon over the next 3 days and give it a good listen.

average album the first three are listenable afetr that its a pathetic attempt for an album.

Album of the Year - feck Off

Interesting......I shall reserve my own judgement Kaner

By the way, how are you dangly bits ? Hope all is good

The album is shit. Guns n Roses is what happened between 1987 and 1991. I even liked some of their covers on Spaghetti Incident. But this Chinese Democracy is absolutely terrible. Basically it's got nothing to do with what Guns'n'Roses stands for.

There was a Time – Annoying pop drums at the beginning and throughout the whole song. Annoying strings in the background. A few seconds of the refrain are not too bad. No energy.

If the World – Starts off like Tony Braxton, wtf?? Pop computer drums throughout the whole song. What’s wrong with fking using real drums ffs!! Boring song. It’s just not GnR.

This I love – 80’s wannabe power ballad. Reminded me on something Meat Loaf would write and sing. Lame guitar solo.

Street of Dreams – Boring, predictable. Parts of it (a few seconds here and there) sounded like something from Queen, which again is very cool but the rest of the song has no GnR character.

Shackler’s Revenge – Starts off like Firestarter from Prodigy. Not too bad, a bit raw, yet still too poppy.

Better – Omg it starts off like a Gwen Stefani song. Again wtf??? A few seconds from the refrain are ok, the rest is horrible shit. Weak drums, weak guitars. Not GnR.

Prostitute – Starts off like Enrique Iglesias ffs!! Is that really really necessary?? Boring song, uninspired horseshit. Not GnR.

Sorry – Axl sounds like a mix between Andre 3000 and Ozzy. A type of ballad Ozzy would sing. Listenable song.

Scraped – A bit funky, partly sounded like the early Chilli Peppers (guitars, background vocals melody). Listenable.

Catcher in the Rye – Simply boring. Horrible vocals. And it's almost 6 minutes long.

Too true. Come back Slash.

My exact thoughts too...

Average album, average tunes, averagely listenable.

This album does seem to be a love it or hate it type thing.

From what I have heard so far it is pretty good, some songs are a bit shit though.

My favourite so far is prostitute....quite like better too.

Are you really saying that Liam Gallagher has a good singing voice?

Define what is good Weaste. Some think Axl Rose was a whining, smoke choked lead singer but it all comes down to taste. Judgement must surely come from the punter and when you think of the amount of records both have sold between them both must have a good singing voices.

I thought this album was guaranteed a No1 spot for the debut week at least but in fact The Killers beat them to it

Chinese Democracy grows on you in my opinion. I only liked one or two songs at first but I left it in the CD player in my car and I quite like most of the album now. The problem is that people can't help but compare it to Axl's previous work.

If this album had been from an unknown band then people wouldn't be so quick to criticise but if you compare any album from any hard rock/metal band to Appetite For Destruction then you'll have a hard task to convince people that it compares in quality.

As for Oasis, Liam and Noel have been making albums throughout the period of Axl's departure and nothing they have done has compared to Definitely Maybe or What's The Story Morning Glory. In my opinion, if they took the best songs from their subsequent work and released it as one album, it would be no better than Chinese Democracy.

Both bands have diminished in relevance and quality but Guns'n'roses is more noticeable due to their absence and the anticipation.

I can't actually bring myself to listen to this.

Started listening to it again after a long break, really is a brilliant album.

Shackler's Revenge is my new favourite on there.
