Aparently this is finally coming out next month, bringing to an end one of the longest waits for a new album in music history - Chinese Democracy has been a mere 15 years in the making - surely it is bound to be a major disappointment?

This is the first single from the album

I was just literally gonna post a thread on this... heard the song on the radio today... I used to LOVE Guns & Roses (appetite is still one of the best albums ever IMO)....

New song sounds ok... but a little dated if you ask me...

great minds ... :smirk:

Well I will reserve judgment until I hear the album a few a times but I am not expecting much to be honest - I also understand that this is supposed to be the first of 3 albums they will release in quick succession but I wont hold my breath ...

Its a pity Axl is a nut case... but Lies and Appetite captured a mood among them that they'll never get back to.... The Illusion albums were the utmost in extravagance.... some really good tunes in there but a fair amount of shite too... if they'd taken the 12 best songs from those and put out one record it would have been SOME album...

I remember seeing an interview with one of them and they were asked when they realised it was all over and they said when they found themselves on an aircraft carrier making a video in which Axl dives off and swims with the dolphins.... something very wrong when your at that shit

Title conflicts
On April 1, 2003, The Offspring announced that they would be naming their upcoming album Chinese Democrazy (You Snooze, You Lose). The Offspring's lead singer Dexter Holland elaborated, "You snooze, you lose. Axl ripped off my braids, I ripped off his album title."[65] However, it turned out to be an April Fools' joke and the Offspring album was eventually released under the title Splinter instead.

I'm a huge GN'R fan. I like the first single which is the title track a lot and I've heard demo versions of 10 other songs, the single is far from being the best song of those. If people listen to the album with an open mind I'm pretty sure they'll like it but if people can't get away from the fact that Slash and co. are missing they won't like it.

I predict it will go straight to No. 1 in the US album chart!

What a terrible, terrible, album. 15 years clearly wasn't enough.

(full album is available on the myspace for those accusing me of being a pirate, which i am, but it's not the point.)

I don't imagine many people have much time for them anymore. Especially after waiting 15 years for a CD.

How naive you are my friend.

Even if the album is turd on a stick it will sell millions. For curiosity alone, & the fact that Guns 'N' Roses have one of the largest fanbases worldwide, i'm aware that it is just Axl & without the Guns tag it wouldn't be anywere near as big (rightly or wrongly) but mark my words you are wrong this will sell a lot.

This I Love is the best song on the album i'd say. Plus it's one of the only songs i can actually understand a word he is singing. It's not as bad an album as i made out just now, but it's definitely not worth the wait, but who honestly expected it to be?

what he said.

Dated in what way? Is Beethoven or Motzart dated? feck, remind me never to go to a symphony ever again.

What I heard sounded a bit over produced, too much tinkering in the mix like you got on a lot of late 80's early to mid 90's albums...

Yes, but the trouble with people like you is that in your mindset you have no concept of the difference between art (which is subjective, you either like it or not), and technical composition (which is totally objective, it's well done or it isn't). Fads and styles change, certain music becomes fashion, and then you get idiots saying certain things are shit when they clearly are not on the technical level, they simply are not to your liking, but people that call things shit normally do so because they are vocbulary and grammer wise challenged. I fecking hate opera with a passion, but it's clearly not shit.

I'm not slating them Weaste, I'm a massive GNR fan... Axl is a well known perfectionist and this can lead to over production...

Liked what I heard... when I say it sounded dated I mean in a production sense, the only impact of that is that I can see it not being given a lot of air time on the radio...
