Guardian: Nani Eyes Italy Transfer | Nani: "Reports are false, I love United"

Discomirror on twitter says Mendes has not approached united re a new contract for nani. This is from an excellent source. In reply custis says he has and that he has that from an excellent source. And they wonder why no fecker believes them.

I think they both meant that over the course of the last 18 months, overall, Nani's been more influential. Not that he's been better in 18 seperate months.

If so, then it's an incredibly misleading thing to say.

Using similar logic you could say that, having been at United for almost 4 years, Nani has only managed to play better than Rooney for a period of just 8 months and matched him for just 3 months.

In other words, Rooney's been the better player for 3 of the last 4 years and is currently the player in better form. On that basis, why should they expect to be paid the same?

I'd love to work at United, feed these spastics contradictory crap and watch them go nuts.

How is it misleading? Should we go through every game and say who performed better? Or every half?

Rooney has been the better player over the last 4 years, but that's a slightly unfair criteria to use for "form", given that 4 years ago Nani was a raw youngster who had just arrived in the Country, vs Rooney who 4 years ago was regarded as one of the top 10 players in world football.

Also I don't think anyone argued that they should be paid the same, just that Nani deserves a pay rise given his form over the last 18 months. Particularly when comparing his situation to the collossal pay-rise Rooney got, whilst being out of form when given it.

Do you honestly believe Nani and in particular Mendes see the world of contract negotiations in the same light you do? We are talking about an era where player's are cocooned by their agents, easily led up the path of greed by these parasitical human beings, and who hold all the trump cards in negotiations due to the rise of player power. If you think Mendes(the brains behind Ronaldo being the world's highest paid player and Mourinho the highest paid manager)is going to use your "but he's more established" logic when it comes to trousering himself and his client a substancial windfall, then you are very much mistaken and quite naive to say the least. To them it's black and white, Nani has become a mainstay of the side and performed more consistently than the top earners over the last x amount of months depending on your own opinion, therefore he should be on a salary that reflects that status achieved through his own form and progression. It's as simple as that because that's the cut-throat nature of football and the way agents work. I personally hate it and what it's doing to football, but it's a fact of life now.

I think more important than who has done what the last 18 months is that Nani has worked himself into the position of being integral to United's plans now, something an agent would obviously believe they can capitalise on. The way things are, Nani's agent could have SAF and United over a barrel during negotiations if they want to.

I think he'll stay, but he'll get a massive pay rise at the same time too, justified or not.

It's not Nani but his alter ego, Michael Jackson, that wants to go to Italy

Who wouldn't want to join in on that?

I wish for the day that I can argue for more pay than 65 thousand quid a week....

I love the way that Taylor has to justify his Rooney, evra and vidic leaving stories at every opportunity. Quite why anyone would take any story he writes regarding players leaving with a pinch of salt is beyond me. He assured us that roo and vidic were as good as gone and that evra was desperate to go. He lived off the vidic story for months. I find the nani to Italy link absolute comedy. I'm sure the lure of playing in front of 5,000 fans at ramshackle stadia every week whilst getting racially abused for weaker sides and less money is what he's always dreamed of.

Was Daniel Taylor the only journalist to report the Evra, Vidic and Rooney stories?

I've seen some false reports on the press. I want you to know that you will hear the truth from me. Love MU

From Nani's twitter account.

I don't think Daniel Taylor is that bad tbh, he broke the Bebe deal before anyone else and also reported that Bebe didn't impress in his first training session(which was admitted by Bebe afterwards in an interview).

Nani's tweet response to it btw

The press must fecking hate Twitter, easy for players to call bullshit the moment they read it.

He wants an improved contract...probably.

MANCHESTER UNITED are facing a battle to keep star winger Nani.
The Portuguese flier, surprisingly fit for tonight’s Champions League clash with Marseille, wants to discuss a new contract and wage rise on the back of his sparkling season.

But that has already been rejected and Nani, 24, has already told close friends he is considering a new challenge.

He is just a year into a new four-year contract signed last March.

That raised his wages to around £65,000 at a time when he was nowhere near as influential as he is now.

The player’s representatives now believe he should be among the top-paid players at the club. They would not expect him to get the £250,000 a week Wayne Rooney earns, but nearer the £100,000 the likes of Dimitar Berbatov pick up.

But the club have told Nani’s people there is no way they will be renegotiating with three years left on his current deal.

If it hasn't been mentioned already, Daniel Taylor is the same feckwit who wrote the story about Nani being unhappy because of Fergie not publicly condemning Carragher's tackle.

He has defended himself from criticism today by saying:

some context: same source for today's story also provided story of Bebe joining, Meireles to Liverpool and Ronaldo (times 20)

So, it could be someone in Portugal. Could be Mendes using him as a method of engineering a payrise, perhaps?

Nope, but he caught my eye at the time. Perhaps you could also ponder whether hitler was the only murderous dictator of the 20th century?

He catches people's eye on Redcafe because more of them read the Guardian website than other online news sources. In fact, nearly every other broadsheet, tabloid and news outlet were running the same stories.
