Seeing as Randall thinks there are only two ever :D

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watch Tower

Creedence Clearwater Revival - I put A Spell On You

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah

Van Morrison - Georgia On My Mind

The Specials - A Message To You Rudy

Johnny Cash - Hurt

Originally Tears for Fears

Originally Nine Inch Nails

Johnny Cash is great at doing cover songs

Manfred Mann - Quinn The Eskimo

Both Turn, Turn, Turn and Quinn The Eskimo are Bob Dylan songs. Just thought it's worth noting how great a songwriter he is.

Would like to add

Joe Cocker - A Little Help From My Friends, Come Together
Hugo - 99 Problems (I love it much more than Jay-Z's original).

Indeed.

And now for some stuff everyone will dislike

Opeth - Soldier of Fortune
John Frusciante - Song to the Siren
Blind Guardian - To France
Gotthard - Mighty Quinn
Blind Guardian - Beyond the Realms of Death
Jorn - Don't Talk To Strangers
Jorn - Burn
Jorn - Perfect Strangers
Glenn Hughes - Nights in White Satin
Glenn Hughes - Only Women Bleed

Lou Barlow - Bulletproof (La Roux cover)

The Tritons - Satisfaction (Rolling Stones cover)

Goldspot - Float On (Modest Mouse cover)

Calexico - Oceans of Noise (Arcade Fire cover)

Stevie Wonders - Blowin' in the Wind (Amazing how the message worked perfectly for a social commentary in a broad spectrum - to the credit of Dylan's remarkable song-writing)

Frank Zappa's - Stairway to Heaven, a fantastically wild interpretation with horn instruments covering Pages' solo. Really great and fun take on one of the all time classics, probably the quintessential infact classic rock track.

There are a few more I've forgot - Vampire Weekends Everywhere is a great cover too.

Santana's Black Magic Woman

Yeah, huge fan of him.

'Free Falling' was something special too.

'Where The Light Is' was a brilliant album.

The man is some player. Very Stevie Ray in style. Seen him about 5 or 6 times over here, it's great because he plays some of the smaller venues.

Gravity is exceptional on that live album. His band are incredible n all.

He does quite a few covers on that actually...all excellent.

I got it on Blu-ray and yeah I believe Freefallin' is even better than Petty's original. Awesome cover.

from Through the Looking Glass, a great album of covers.

Rem - I will survive

Johnny cash - if you could read my mind

Travis - baby one more time

Muse - please, please, please let me get what I want

Bonnie prince Billy - the Calvary cross

Antony & the johnsons - if it be your will

Radiohead - the thief

Nirvana - man who sold the world

Tatu - how soon is now?

(that one isn't a joke. It's good)

Van Halen - You Really Got Me Now
Guns n Roses - Live and Let Die
Pearl Jam - i believe in Miracles
Seu Jorge - Rebel Rebel
The Goo Goo Dolls - Bitch
Oasis - Cum on feel the Noize

Seems there's a fair number of female artists doing covers of classic tunes these days...

Nouvelle Vague - Love will tear us apart
Tori Amos - Smells like Teen Spirit
Taken by Trees - Sweet Child o Mine
Hannah Peel - Blue Monday

This is the oddest one, Scratch covering a 1950's Bollywood tune!

From the youtube comments:

Lee Perry told us during filming of The Upsetter that Sam Carty came into the studio with a song he wanted to remake and started singing in Hindi. Lee didn't know what the lyrics meant but went with it. Sam did not speak Hindi but this was one of his favorite songs. They laid it over the riddim and it turned out magical. A great example of Lee's genius and his willingness to experiment.

I found it on Arkology, the first (triple) album I went to in my collection.

I never bought Return of the Super Ape back in the day but I downloaded it a few years ago and it's one I should check out more closely.

Yea, another nice Sam Carty track there, I've been on a big reggae binge lately.

I've been more into the rocksteady side of things lately until I heard (and bought) this

and remembered how much I like Roots as well.
