Who is better Sancho or Grealish?
I would take Sancho. £100m for Grealish is ridiculous. Frankly. I know Sancho will cost a tonne but hes done far more for me than Grealish has

Whenever i watch Grealish he hogs the ball and gives it away a lot, and gets fouled a lot. Doesnt score enough, creates chances but I never watch him and think "wow hes class"

There isnt a huge gap between him and Mount for me, and Mount certainly isnt worth 100m

This and Kane feel completely un City-like, wonder if its one last big CL push before Pep clears off

A part of me actually wonders if it’s a marketing thing, basically snapping up England’s golden boys for the image kudos. City are just a face for more important matters, after all.

I think he’s quality but every time our rivals sign a player, people have a meltdown on here as if they’re the reincarnation of Pele. I’m waiting for someone to sign that Malian player we are linked with and people convince themselves he’s Patrick Viera mixed with Makelele

I think he'd be perfect for City, with his combination of creativity and ball retention skills. And the number of fouls he gets. Absolutely perfect. And he can play basically anywhere in the forward line - left flank, right flank, AMC.

Since when can he play on the right flank? He even omitted the RW when discussing positions he can play.

I think Grealish will suit Pep quite well though. He's incredibly hard to win the ball off of and suits the ball-retention tiki-taka perfectly.

I rate Mount highly too and agree neither of them are worth that money. United need a player like Sancho more, along with defensive and midfield reinforcements.

Sad to see him go to City as I do think he'll improve them further still, but don't think he'd be worth anywhere near that much to other teams.

Who is better Sancho or Grealish?
Theyre probably at a similar level after last season when Grealish finally stepped up to his talent. I prefer Sancho due to him playing on the right. The question mark will always remain for some until he shows it outside of Dortmund, but he's done everything he possibly could to be considered world class these past 3 seasons.

If Grealish could play on a right, there would be a question between who we should go for sure. But he can't, so for me it's a no brainer. Sancho all day. 5 years younger and has shown far more in his career so far, and can play either side.

Sounds like everyone jumped the gun a bit, I'll put my pitch fork away for now.

Should have picked him up when he was 18-20, the talent was already then easy to see.

Villa will be over the moon getting 100 million, excited to see what they do with it.

Curious to see how they invest. Martinez was a great buy last season and Buendia could do very well!

I just feel Grealish always wanted to join United but we never were active enough and determined to make it happen,

He should have been signed 3-4 years ago when we could have snapped him up for 30m

The title would be settled before a ball is even kicked if that ends up being the case.
Would be a joke and Pep under massive pressure.
Take it nobody else thinks Grealish is over-rated?

Not saying he can't play, that would be silly, but gets fawned over massively by press & fans alike.
Yep kinda.
Not just you, he's massively overrated. He's still a top player but the fawning as you mention is out of control at this point.

I can't think of a player who has garnered so much praise for accomplishing so little. Dimitri Payet was playing at a higher level at West ham and for France and he got nowhere this level of praise. Not even Mahrez at Leicester was rated as Grealish seems to be now despite being more impressive IMO.

I suppose England have lacked a player with this kind of flair in so long that fans and media alike can't control themselves.
They making him out to be prime Totti. I'm glad someone mentioned Mahrez. in 2016 season he bagged 17 league goals, 11 assists and created 20 BIG CHANCES. Grealish has 6 goals, 10 assists and 14 big chances. to be fair Mahrez had played more games but he won player of the year and never cost anywhere near.

Can't agree with this, and particularly the bolded. There is an archetype of greats who performed the same role in teams who, by the metric of goals and assists don't seem to fare too well, but when what they did for their teams is considered, they were intrinsic and invaluable as the knit/mesh.

What's seen in Grealish is a means to free up others as he attracts opposing bodies towards him with his dribbling, strength and daring. It depends to what level of player he is compared to to state he is over-rated or not. Personally, I think if you look at what he brings to a suitor, factor in how rare those traits are, and assess the player from there (entertainment has nothing to do with it, it's just a by-product of his style), his value is, and should be, sky high.
from the sounds of it he is Eden Hazard. How would you rate him compared to Mahrez?

I have always said he is over rated. English pundits keep going on like he is Maradona.
Or Totti or Baggio
He's up there talent wise with almost anyone in the league.
But United fans are notorious for not seeing it in players from unfashionable clubs. Only have to remember the Mane threads.
You could say the same for Mahrez. Prime Mahrez done far more than Jack but no one talked 100m being good value. He went for 60m 3 seasons ago after leading a relegation candidate to a title and being crowned best player in the league

This transfer if it were to happen... would be game over for the league. That City team would be unstoppable. And just when I thought Sancho and great CB would close the gap, this would just make the gap wider than when it was end of season.

Something about Villa's ambition suggests they'll do their best to hang onto Grealish as breaking into the top 4 appears as viable as anytime. The faint window was when they almost got relegated a season ago and since then, they've invested intelligently.

At least we'll finally get to see how good he is at the highest level. Moving to City will also lead to less fawning over him on here as it's been quite ridiculous lately.

I’ll be gutted if he goes to city, he’ll be a top player for them and if Pogba gets his free transfer that’ll be who we should of signed to replace him but it wouldn’t surprise me if the club see Hannibal as his alternative and eventually Pogbas successor, whether he’s ready to make some appearances next season who knows.

City potentially getting Kane and Grealish in the same window, whilst already being head and shoulders above the rest.

I'm not really sure how we can keep up/close the gap, even with Sancho.

Yep. Last year when he could’ve been had for around £60m-£70m whereas now his profile has only grew larger.

...United’s board/owners have taken over 2 years to get 1 of Sancho/Grealish finalized taking the piss out of clubs with offers and such while City are about to spend £200m on Kane+Grealish. If you’re a newcomer growing into football, who would you rather support? No brainer. City have recent history. United are living on past successes however you want to spin it. At least Olé and co have brought direction and a vision to build upon but what use is it when the club don’t back them last summer when they proved the campaign before they deserved it. As a result of said non-backing last summer, we’ll be a summer transfer away from catching on to City since they’re all but likely to makeup with it double dipping in big signings this time around whereas we still struggle to get just Sancho alone inked. F*** off.

The problem is you think we can keep up/close the gap.

If not for a dodgy goalline technology decision Villa would have been relegated and Grealish almost certainly sold, with us as the favourites if reports at the time were to be believed. Instead of that they stayed up and the price went from £30m to over double and he ended up signing a new deal. What could of been I guess?

Would be very on-brand for United to watch Grealish move to City, with us still at risk of needing to replace Pogba - who as it stands is leaving on a free next summer.

I keep seeing comments ' i prefer Sancho to Grealish as he plays on the right'.
He is much better and effective as a left forward, its where he plays almost entirely for Dortmund. For ENGLAND he has been played on the right and has not made a big impact, he played once from the left in qualifying and scored a brace.

Given the fact Pogba wants out, Lingard as good as gone, Mata too old and surely gone and Martial underwhelming, Rashford likely to be out for start of season...surely we should not allow city a free run at Grealish. ....

Feck sake Villa why did you have to stay up in 19/20 and then Utd passing on him for Donny last summer too what it gods name were we thinking. Has taken all the gloss off us potentially signing Jadon & Varane in one fell swoop and definitely pushed City further away from the rest.

I do wonder if City need him. Do we think he's productive enough as a LW or his end product will go up significantly at City? His close control and dribbling will be bloody dangerous at a side that keeps the ball so much. Hopefully it leads City to become a bit of a one-paced team in the future.

If city spend over 80 mn for grealish I will be happy that means I hope they will not upgrade Fernando the glaring weakness in city team.
