Gaming Grand Theft Auto VI

Vice City is my fav GTA. I hope you can select an 80s radio station. Driving down Ocean Drive listening to cheesy music. Yes. That said there's no way I can play this game with young kids around.

Wrestling it is then.

Weird because the large majority of people love the trailer and it's only a very small few in here who don't find the upcoming release appealing.

I don't think it would have the same appeal to them, no. Watch Dog: Legions which was set in London sold far less than the first two which were set in the US.

I feel the same. Not to say absolutely no American will buy a London-set GTA of course, but people underestimate how centric American citizens are of their country, even in a fictional context. I feel we’d definitely see a decrease in sales compared to previous GTA titles.

The takes that they should do something new are hilarious. No.

Same. Sometimes I would literally start off at the hotel and just drive away even all the way up to Little Havana for the music  (on the definitive edition there’s actually a trophy available for getting through the entire radio station)

Lucia is wearing a tag on her ankle, I'm thinking that this might be a gameplay mechanic, instant wanted stars if out past a certain time.
Someone on the GTA subreddit said it's a way to prevent you from exploring the full map instantly. Go to another district/county and you get swarmed by police.
We also pay money to watch fake-tanned millionaires play a child's game in a stadium too. Like real men.

Yeah that trailer looked well fookin dull.
Ben White catching strays.

Definitely not disappointed about it going back to Vice City, the world looks great and, ultimately, it's going to be a totally different beast to the PS2 Vice City (was going to say OG Vice City, but that would be the top down one!)

I'm wondering what they can do with the world (other then missions obviously) to make it interactive/worth your time though? Just thinking about the previous Vice City where the beach was a big part of the map, but ultimately absolutely pointless.

Maybe it all just has to be mission-centric/focused - like I can't imagine why you'd go to a nightclub in the game otherwise? Either that or there's just an insane amount of mini-games/random events etc.

Nothing whatsoever going on in Miami Florida.
A lot seems to happen there but most of it (the makes the news stuff) cringeworthy so I’m not sure whether I’ll enjoy laughing at it or just not want any part of it whatsoever.

Which 80s hits could they use? I feel they used most of the best ones in Vice City.
Why do you lot keep referring to the 80s? This is set in modern day with social media culture (vomits) an integral part of it.

Did you not see the trailer? Are you not entertained?

Not hugely tbh.

2023 is boring with influencers and the likes which this is leaning into and Miami as a city and Florida as a county is dull as feck. As others have said, if they don't change up the mechanics of the game then it'll just feel like the last decade rehashed. There's bound to be some political satire as well which I'm frankly tired of.

Vice City worked so well because it was basically Scarface and peak 80's vibes. I don't think going for modern day will work anywhere remotely as well. I know you could point to GTA V versus San Andreas being set in 1992 and say they still managed it but there's a lot more variety of geography and a lot more of LA is iconic to be recreated than Miami/Florida, which aside from the neon lights is a bit of a shithole (LA is a shithole too but it has so much film and tv show history tied into it). I know it's dependant on level design and NFS isn't exactly renowned for it but their Miami-aping city was boring as hell.

I know Rockstar usually always manage to pull it out of the bag but they've done a lot of harm with the way they've milked V and then the PS2 'remasters'. I didn't finish V and haven't played online for a long, long time because each new expansion was crap.

It's all gonna be on the strength of the story telling/jeopardy of the two protagonists.

Guys the place where Alligators regularly eat people and people on meth chew faces off is dull.

Jesus Christ what is wrong with you?

Miami alone is a city of bright colours with a unique mix of American, Latin American and Carribean cultures.

This is also a good explanation of Florida's "uniqueness"

Would probably quit gaming if you found the atmosphere in the trailer to be dull.

Not at all. There are plenty of amazing games with incredible atmosphere.

I just don't like the current period we're living in and this is aping it.

Don't like Florida in the slightest. Miami is a shithole. Don't like the music that comes from there or the celebrity types that go there, don't aspire to be an influencer, fed up of rednecks after 8 years of American politics. It basically looks like Instagram/Florida man meme 2023 for me.

Tired of GTA after V being redone over and over and milked until it's dead.

I'm sure it'll be well made and I'm sure there'll be more to it but I feel like loads in here have just gone 'OMG GTA <3' without really considering it. Think back to why Vice City was so special, it wasn't because of the actual city. If you remove what made Vice City so special, what are you left with?

Florida being such a meme is now so overplayed that it is dull so a game of it will wear thin pretty quickly.
