Gonzalo Higuain is being lined up for a move to England, according to Pini Zahavi - who now controls half of the River Plate starlet.

Zahavi, along with a group of investors, has finalised a deal with River Plate for a reported $6 million (£3.2 million).

Now the Israeli super-agent has confirmed that a move to England is looking the most likely option for a player who over the past few months has attracted scouts from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Lazio, Milan and Internazionale.

Higuain emerged as a real star of Argentine football earlier this month when he bagged two goals in River's 3-1 Super Classico derby win over arch-rivals Boca Juniors.

"The boy is special," beamed Zahavi.

"He is big, strong and well suited to the English game. English football has become stronger than Italy and Spain and players want to try it for themselves."

Zahavi admitted buying a big stake in a player as young as Higuain, just 18 - was a risk.

"I recommend players to investors," he expanded to the Daily Express.

"The idea is to locate them when they are young on the way to the top, the risk is bigger but they cost less."

While a tug of war for his services looks set to ensue in the near future, a battle over his international future has already begun.

Although he has spent virtually all his life in Argentina, Higuain was actually born in France as his father Jorge was plying his trade as a footballer there.

Now France are hot on the trail of one of the brightest prospects in South America and like with David Trezeguet - are hopeful the player will snub Argentina.

"We know the player, and he is interesting," French coach Raymond Domenech opined recently.

"One does not play at that level if he does not have talent and the second quality is that he could be French.

"He is a player we are going to follow closely. But we can select him at any time as he is French."

Higuain has thus far refused all call-ups to the Argentina youth set-up - but the player is yet to disclose a preference for either country.

I think we should sign the boy. He's a fantastic prospect and might follow the footsteps of Ruud Van Nistelrooy

I hope he knows that liverpool are shit

He scored 2 goals in a 3-1 victory earlier this month so I assume he's a striker?

Anyone got better info on him, other than he's a big, strong lad?

Looks a bit podgy to me tbh

I think he is the next David Trezeguet on FM. Not sure though. :p

skysports produce a bollocks article on a transfer story like this every day. it is getting rather tiresome tbh.

i wish they'd do some proper journo work instead of just turning the rumour mill

Superb player! I've seen him a few times now and i've been very very impressed. Can see him moving to Spain though.

Excuse me, but could it just possibly be so, that Zahavi just says this type of thing to get up the intrest on his half own player? We all know how a player can become a internet legend. He mentions his name along with Real, Chelsea and United bada bing bada bom he's almost worldclass.

He is a brilliant player McK@n and if you see any River games you would know. Higuain has a massive future ahead of him.

This kid is a sensational talent,i have followed him for the last 2 yrs,and this kid is destined to reached the top

That Argentine fella at Atletico looks quite handy, supposed to be the next Messi.

I reckon Higuain might well turn out to be quite shit. Just a feeling.

Well thats enough for me. I hope we don't sign the over rated cnut.

I think it might be a bit too early for a move at the minute, could ruin his career but.. he has got potential

Now you're being a tard. My point is, Zahavi has everything to gain on the player. You know MONEY..! Im not saying he's good or not, Im saying that Pini "The Super cnut Agent" Zahavi wants his name to be recognized, so he can get MONEY. I don't think we are that intrested, or at all intrested since we allready have Rooney and Rossi on our books. But offcourse our Scouting staff knows him and probably scouts the Argies league quite often. But the fact that you starts to rave on about him just get's the cnut what he won't, wich is attention.

From past experience, wait before the player get's to the big leagues. Judge him on a season, not 1 or 2 games where he scores 2 or 3 goals. That's just foolish, but then again mabye you are..

 Im southamerican, I follow very closely argentinian football, I have 3 tv sport channels from argentina, and only til this year Ive heard about him. We should ask Marcos who is a river plate fan to see if he has been following higuain since 2 years ago but I very much doubt it.

you're some kind of scout or just another internet kid who claims he knows every young player in the world?

No , twat would describe him better

Have any of you guys seen that young Dumbarton striker McK@n? apparently he's the next big thing & likes garlic

Is SiYuan considered a paedophile if he creams himself over a couple of youtube videos of a 14 year old player?

Real Madrid's Higuain leaves France door open

02.08.09 | tribalfootball.com
Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain refuses to rule out playing for France at next year's World Cup.

While he remains uncapped, Argentine Higuain qualifies for France and said: "There are rumors that say that I am not attracted to playing for the Albiceleste, but it is completely untrue. It's one of my dreams.

"I work hard every day so Diego Maradona will call me. I want to play in the 2010 World Cup."

Asked about playing for France, Higuain added: "It's very flattering to know the coach of France is interested in you. You never know what can happen in the future."

He's definatly feeling confidence.

Bound to be Maradona.

Domenech seems to be pretty tactically astute, he just uses boring tactics and is in need of an attacking player to step it up.

Maradona doesn't seem to have a clue, in any sense. Rubbish tactics, doesn't seem to be a great motivator(given he locked himself in his room for a few hours after the Bolivia defeat without even talking to the players) and an all round bad manager.

Maradona picks his teams from the front line and works his way back wards. I really hope he pulls out of the Argie team quick, he has no tactical intelligence. I don't want him to dent his legend with this abysmal attempt at managing

Domenech has attacking players, what he needs is to find a right connection between the midfield and the forward line, which is IMO what he lacks since Zidane is gone.

Maradona is crap, the Argentine FA knew it and that's why Bilardo was assigned the advicing role (I think he -Diego- was appointed as a smokescreen, don't know the exact story). He has good avice in Bilardo, but I think he is too proud to listen.
