Golf 2023

Big day starting soon. I am shocked that the bookies have Europe as slight favourites for this now

Yeah, you look at this and find it hard to see where 3.5 more points will come from.

I saw Lexi Thomson play at Woburn a few years ago. Proper miserable, would love to see her fluff it here.

Did that MAGA loving twat lose?

If I knew she was playing, I would have actively rooted against her.
Nah, she ended up securing her point, but she lost two in a row and looked super shaky.

Her and Hale Irwin are the most miserable pros I've seen up close.

So I got a bit of a win on equipment last week. Have been telling my coach I need a new driver for a while. I’ve been playing a burner superfast 2.0 since February and it’s been a solid driver but the quicker my swing speed has got, the less reliable it has become (10.5 degree head, regular shaft etc). For reference my driver cruise speed is 108-110 club head speed

Last week while I’m in the sim he told me he had something for me. I’ve been eyeing off the Wilson Dynapower driver as I reckon it’s the best driver to come out last year (I’m not the biggest fan of stealth despite it looking mint… carbon face just doesn’t sit with me). My boy whips out a Sim 2 Max, 9 degree driver, 3 wood and 3 hybrid. Used but not a mark on them. The head covers look untouched.

$600 aud later (roughly 300 squid or 450usd) your boy is rocking a new wood set

Have Europe any chance ?
Of course they do. I think they are slight favourites given the history of the home team winning and their better players are probably better than the top American players. Will be won or lost based on how the bottom half of the team perform.

I love it, but can’t help think it’s a bad mix if they both have a few bad holes.

yeah agreed, I assume they’re trying to get a bit of energy out there early doors.

looking forward to this though, as a European match 3 is the most worrying one

if Morikawas playing from the fairway, it’s game over in that match.

You cannot claim with any certainty. It’s just silly. This event creates way more variables than a normal week.

It’s a prediction, but hardly a bold one. The home crowd is unlikely to be enough of an equalizer for how good Morikawa will be on a course like this, I have him as the US top points winner this week. Course is made for him and if fowlers tee shots are on point this could be over early.Assuming fowler tees off on 1, morikawa will have four par 4s to tee off on all less than 400 yards, and his first par 5 is sub 500 I think.

More in form players right now and course will work for them.

More in form players, but also more question marks. Hojgaard and Rose, for example. I think Europe will lose, not because of the difference between the best players, but because of the difference between the lesser players.
