Golf 2022

Rory has not given himself a single chance
He had plenty on the scoring holes but didn't make enough, it's hard to make chances now (even 12 and 14 which are scoring holes that he didn't play perfectly he still had 10 footers for birdie which he missed).

Smith ….has there ever been a pro golfer with a more shit haircut?

Fantastic save by Smith, he would be a worthy winner if he gets it done given how he's played today and the putts he's made under pressure.

if Rory can finally make a putt here a birdie on the last should do it

edit: oh well

Tache getting the win after this moment of brainless madness yesterday is quite something

Meh I know Cameron smith has obviously earned it but Rory is 2 under on a relatively easy day after being ridiculously good all week. It’s just annoying how often he does this

Cameron Smith didn’t just earn it, he tied the lowest score to par ever shot in a major.

It took an almost unprecedented performance to win this Open.

Well done Cameron Smith, -20 at the Open is some going.

Cam Smith's had some year to be fair. But is -18 like, you know, the best score ever, for runner up?

Felt like Hovland and Rory pushed each other yesterday. The 2 Cams had that today.

He's had an absolutely average round on a day where everyone was shooting the lights out, and lost it after being well clear of the 2 lads he finished behind. Definitely a bottle job. Missing easy putts and hitting average shots.

That it was not
Think it was. The course is so easy today with no wind that anything 70 or over is average at best. Mcilroy putting stroke on 2/3 of his close birdie chances were poor. His lag putting was fantastic but anything close for birdie the stroke was iffy. His approach play went poor for the back 9 too.

Rory was actually playing well but as soon as Cameron smith came close he just didn’t look like he had it. There wasn’t a single hole where he even came within 10 feet for a birdie

What was the average score today? (Or even the average for the top... 30)

That's probably a better indicator

The man shot under par and the guy that won it tied the lowest score to par in major history. That’s not bottling, that’s another player just having an almost unprecedented tournament. It happens.

Like another poster alluded to, everything isn’t a “bottle job”.

Thank God Rory lost again would take anyone winning over him. Was hoping for Young but had him each way so not too bad
