Golf 2017

Never followed the PGA much, is it common for them to go back9front9 for the second round? Unless I've missed something....Rickie and Rory just finished on the ninth.

I'm a keen golfer and absolutely love the game. The coverage of this PGA Championship has been absolutely dire. They refused to renew their deal with Sky as they wanted the event to be free to air so it's on the BBC and Twitter, but the coverage Sky give is absolutely second to none. All they've done is alienate the viewership, hardly anyone I know from my golfing circles is watching it because the BBC coverage is so terrible. Yes, they are relying on the host broadcaster for the pictures but the commentary and overall package is so stale and old fashioned compared to what Sky offer during the majors.

Massive mistake from the PGA of America and hopefully by next year they have learned their lesson. The course has been set up terribly as well, good shots aren't getting rewarded as they should and are getting punished just as often as bad ones. Doesn't make for a fair test of golf.

Complete opposite here.....I've never known many to really care about the PGA before, me included. I've been somewhat following this....doesn't help that it IS the least prestigious of the 4 anyway, thus all the moves to try and change that image. Still don't think I'll ever truly care about it, theres not much that seemingly makes the PGA unique like the other three. It kinda just feels like the Australian Open did in Tennis for decades.....the nothing one that the absolute best didn't take super seriously.

Either way, Sky didn't pony up....the Beeb did, unfortunately they obviously had ties to the Athletics when they did that move, next year it'll be better I'd assume. Not sure it's the PGA's fault, all that matters when selling the rights to them is the money part.

Agree completely about the set up of the golf course. Quail Hollow is much better than what has been shown this week.

On the US side of things, I was able to stream the whole tournament for free on PGA.com - whereas otherwise, my not having cable would have prevented me from seeing it at all... so that part was helpful for me. I'm sorry it didn't work out on your side of the pond.
