According to Tom Clare, up to 75% of our home crowd is day-trippers, OOT'ers and corporates. The Glazers don't care whose arses are on the seats as long as the place is filled. I don't know how significant match-day revenue is but I'm guessing that the tourists all shuffle through the megastore and spend a few bob.
I do wonder if this will gradually drop or not. I used to always link up my holiday with a visit to OT during SAF's time. I did that once during LVG and was treated to two games, zero goals and sat through 120 dire minutes to see us lose a shootout to Boro. No way am I going to spend that amount of money again to see us lose to Cardiff.
It's not a fun day trip if the football and atmosphere is dire. The aging stadium isn't exactly a draw to try and impress corporate clients either. But then again, there's a good chance they don't care about any of this as they will sell just after milking us dry.
