I do wonder if this will gradually drop or not. I used to always link up my holiday with a visit to OT during SAF's time. I did that once during LVG and was treated to two games, zero goals and sat through 120 dire minutes to see us lose a shootout to Boro. No way am I going to spend that amount of money again to see us lose to Cardiff.

It's not a fun day trip if the football and atmosphere is dire. The aging stadium isn't exactly a draw to try and impress corporate clients either. But then again, there's a good chance they don't care about any of this as they will sell just after milking us dry.
 
People need to be not easily conned on this one, that the periods of success / decent football we've had since they took over don't make things OK.
 
It's interesting that over in Liverpool, Fenway has been able to do well with a club just by being competent. Being American and looking for a profit is not in and of itself a block on success. The problem is the Glazers themselves. They only care about short term profit so they keep Woodward running the show and don't restructure for success.

But this is self defeating. By their own logic they must at some point restructure or sell. Otherwise the profit will dry up. The idea that you can do a Wenger and just aim for the financial sweet spot of fourth place every year is no longer viable, because there are six big clubs now.

I think we’re all guilty at one time or another of talking nonsense when we speak passionately and frankly about the club we love but I couldn’t disagree with the general ire he was expressing.
 
When he sacked Jose, people were saying that he can't get another manager appointment wrong and he has learnt his lessons. He will employ a DOF and revamp the structure at the club with good football people to work alongside him.

Lo and behold, we have another hasty manager appointment who looks more likely to fail based on current results and past track records. Worst of all, no DOF or any sort of change to the structure of the football club.

Now I start to believe that Ed may be actually a Liverpool supporter. :lol:

One of the most false narratives when it comes to United s that Woodward is involved in the footballing side of things and that a DoF will change Woodwards responsibilities. But this narrative will never go away since people like to believe it and spew filth. I have posted about this before and I will not repeat myself now
But I will add this: Another false narrative is that Woodward is negotiating "Tractor/Noodle deals". And then gets credit and mocked for it at the same time in some weird way that I fathom to understand.
He really is not though. He has nothing to do with it anymore.
He was before when he was head of commercial, but since he was appointed CEO when Gill left this falls on Richard Arnold, who occupies Woodward´s old position and the commercial team.
I really dont get how people believe that a CEO of a company the size of United gets involved with the day-to-day operating of the business. Be it the footballing side, the marketing side, the Investor Relations side, the HR side, the corporate development side or the commercial side, like negotiatiating sponsor- and partnership deals.
Woodward is the fecking CEO, some of you should really google it to understand what it means. He does exactly what Gill did with the addition of what it means that United is listed on the NYSE now. And no one ever got on Gill´s case for involving himself too much or at all in the footballing side of things.

Ultimately the buck stops with the CEO.

The structure is wrong.

The strategy is non existent.

The talks of hiring a DOF (before the next manager after Jose) was bull.

Player contracts are being mismanaged.

Manager contracts have been mismanaged.

Succession planning has been non existent.

It's apparent that Woodward and the Glazers are one and the same.

Of course they are. As Granovskaia at Chelsea is to Abramovich. As Sorriano at City is to the oil-sheiks. As Peter Moore is to Fenway at Liverpool. All finance people btw.
If you think that there is a parallell universe where the CEO in some way can be independent towards the owners you are deluded. Its how it works. Get over it.
 
I'd take a 17th place finish in the league next year if that's what it takes to force the Glazers out. The Glazers finger prints are all over this club and we need to get rid of them ASAP.

Sheik Mansour (or more accurately MBZ) bought city as a sportswashing exercise, plain and simple.

However along with pouring money into the club they also had the common sense to appoint to key roles the people Gary Neville would refer to as the 'best in class' when it comes to the business of running a football club. People with a proven track record working in football to oversee improvements in their facilities and recruitment and lay the perfect structure to appoint a manager who they planned to hire years in advance.

The Glazers invested nothing and appointed the banker who assisted in their hugely unpopular, unneeded and unasked for takeover. A man who, despite him having no prior football knowledge or experience, they decided to promote to CEO when their incumbent vastly experienced manager and CEO both stepped down in 2013.

The differences are clear and so is the underlying cause of why the respective recent fortunes of both clubs has been so disparate.

So you'd rather we save money and give it to the Glazers?
Every transfer window, Woodward finds are reason not to spend money. In Jan 2019, the excuse was that Ole was not the permanent manager. Very convenient.
He'll find another excuse for Summer 2019 (I have no idea what it will be, but it will be a cracker and fans will believe it).

Spend as much money as it takes to get this team up the league table. Finishing 6th is embarrassing and if we are not careful, next season will be worse.

And what's clueless about hiring a DoF?

This guy is better than the one who destroyed Pogba just after the game. I also like how he apologizes for cursing only to continue with fecks till the end of the interview.
 
The scariest thing about it all is that our fans seem to be accepting our decline.

The fact that we're not seeing any sort of a protest against the Glazers is most concerning.

Ed Woodward gets a bit of stick but at the end of the he is still an employee. The Glazers ultimately make all the decisions and are the architects of our decline. They're an absolute disgrace and its time our fans woke up to what is happening.

I want United to be sensible. In other transfer windows, it may be an excuse. In January 2019 - aside from the market being much more limited - it just didn't make sense to invest money.

There's nothing clueless about hiring a DOF. I'm for it, but the guy barely seemed to know what the role meant or who performs it elsewhere. Just shouting DOF is a solution to nothing.
