Glazers / Woodward out! (One down)

I was starting to wonder when he'd start talking after the house incident. I'm surprised he mentioned he spent 200 million since Ole has become manager.

What he really meant: 'I gave Ole the funds, if the team aren't delivering on the pitch then don't blame me, you fools'

"As a club and a board, we do recognise that we are not yet where we want to be"

What he really means: 'Myself and my board have no clue on what we're doing, but don't worry we're still figuring it out'

We banking on the academy producing worldies then.
It seems like he's hard man to break. He's not leaving for a long time. I just hope fans continue protests against him. The fact that he's bein made to make statements and hire specialists shows that he's feeling the pressure.

We've heard him say these types of things before. Nothing happens. His big ego and drive to prove himself is destroying the club.

We’ve spent 200 million. What of the sales and getting wages off the books? We’ve actively weakened the squad since Ole took office.
Plus the other garbage about looking at players over a season? We’d never have gotten Ronaldo with that kind of approach. Whilst we managed to scab about for a striker, the entire winter window and ended up bidding on King and getting a loanee in. Doesn’t look like we have a plan at all...

I'm sure the plan was Haaland, and all the noises from his camp suggested the lad wanted to come, but when that fell through we didn't have much time to get anybody else in, and King and Ighalo were sensible targets for a short-term fix.

£24 million for a short term fix in King would have been shockingly bad business. I’m glad the bid was rejected. Ighalo was also a panic thing, there was no planning in it. Ed’s trying to make out there’s an actual plan, but it still looks as chaotic as ever.

Regurgitated bullshit.
Yep, I honestly believe he thinks United fans are dickheads so he can roll out this bollocks every year and we’ll just swallow it, in some ways I kind of admire his sheer audacity.

The rumour was we only wanted Joshua King on loan, but if we're going with £24m, wasn't that what we paid for van Persie who in essence was a short term fix considering his appalling injury record, and brought in to push Rooney's nose out.

Ighalo was mentioned before the window even opened so was always an option.

Hmm comparing King to Van Persie :nono:

How can Ed or Ole justify trying to sign a striker who scores about once every 4 games. Bournemouth turned down our bid to purchase, it was all made very public.

Pretty predictable statements from Woodward, eh. Timing is quite fitting too, season ticket renewals aren't far off - expecting Ashton's PR machine to kick into full overdrive now.

“As a club and a board, we do recognise we are not yet where we want to be...”

You don’t say

Very little response to this statement. He has completely lost the support and confidence of the fans at this stage.

Do not renew your season tickets, unless you some big positive changes in the club. Big money spent on class players, top professionals recruited on the football side of things ( DOF, coaches, scouts etc.). Money is the only language that Ed and his bosses understand. Do not fall for their incompetence and bullshit.

Not comparing them as players and he'd have been less of a gamble than RvP was, we were looking for an experienced forward who can hold the ball up preferable with Premier League experience and King fit the bill with him knowing Old Trafford inside and out an added bonus - if it was all made public how much did we bid, and how far short of Bournemouth's valuation were we?

Same old, regurgitated, corporate drivel to assuage shareholders and gullible fans. Woodward out.

We have been hearing the same shit for seven years.
Anyone excited by those statements needs a slap.

Indeed. And even if you look at what he says about investment, he talks in past tense, and mentions what we've spent during Ole's ( and, in fact Jose's final window ) tenure.
More ambiguity, obfuscation and business-speak, I'm afraid.

I do worry that what we invest in new players may be heavily contingent on what we eventually sell Pogba for. I hope that if our spending is guided by this type of practical consideration ( and, after all, we are a business first and foremost ) that Ed is able to get the preliminary transfer concluded quickly & competently ( cough, cough ) to enable us to move with sufficient speed to secure the targets we need in good time for, lets say, pre-season at the latest.

( Struggles while writing this to keep a straight face.)

He's come out with some quotes recently that put more pressure on himself to deliver this summer. It's interesting, because suddenly there's rumours from multiple sources that the Glazers are beginning to not like what they are seeing in terms of the investments we've made and the state of us on the pitch, think this summer will certainly be the most interesting one since this whole debacle began.

"Our recruitment process focuses on analysis and selection of players over the course of a season, with a view to the following summer transfer window."

This made me laugh hard. The more I read it the more funny it sounds. The recruitment is based on analyzing players with a view to sign them, amazing. The guy clearly knows his stuff.

"4 signings this summer. Grealish, Maddison, Sancho and Moussa Dembele. And Pogba stays too."

Promise

Good old Ed. Now be good little sheep and renew those season tickets...

Probably the most important. Not a chance we will get anywhere with another summer of two signings and a wild card.

Because by all accounts the sponsors are beginning to get twitchy, so this isn't a time for fans to roll over and have their tummies tickled by Woodward's briefings, we could actually be getting through if it is kept up, but Woodward is a bright guy, and I expect him to ultimately smooth things over and live to fight another day.

Literally any idiot could come out with those statements, there was nothing reassuring or enlightening about it! Best he keeps his mouth shut or get more flares coming his way by disgruntled asbo’s.
