The point I believe he's trying to make is, that we want the club to be self sufficient. Comply with FFP rules and still be able to blow all other clubs out of the water when it comes to finances. So if any particular owner leaves, we're not reliant on them for their finances. Basically, what we were before the Glazer's took over us.

Would be great to get Red Bull in as consultants.

Yea. Glazer's survived that somewhat, as we were still winning. Now? I don't know how they can be defended. Really will be a joyous day when they leave.
 
As an American I can also support the concept of them leaving the club. Far too little investment in the squad. Ambition almost non-existent while our rivals are snapping up the good produce, we're seeing what's left in the damaged goods bin in the back of the store. Then we decide we're too shit and start racing around the store buying whatever shit we think might be ok. And Ed Woodward has got to be isolated to business contracts. We need a DOF clearly as our signings absent this year have been bad far too often.

When FSG took over Liverpool they were on the brink of going bust. Their team was a disaster. They changed that around, brought in the right football people, (which we still haven't done) got a top young coach in Rodgers (who some Utd fans now want as our manager 5 years later) built serious foundations to the point where Klopp said yes please. In comparison, Woodward tried to sell Utd to Klopp with the disneyland talk. Is it really luck he went to Liverpool? You make your own luck. Just like it wasn't luck City got Pep or Spurs replaced Sherwood with Pochettino.

Glazers/Woodward are driving around in a Ferrari but are getting blown away by Skoda's and Ford Focuses.

I cannot disagree with anything you wrote. Afraid it is going to get worse. We are currently a mid-table team at best even with our full squad fit. With rumors of the potential recruits, things are only going to get worse. We need to get footballing people in who can make long term plans for our footballing side of things, not a money man totally out of his depth.

The Glazer's are rewarding Woody for bringing in an unimaginable amount of income, not for his footballing knowledge. We need to make changes right now, not next week, not next month but right now. It is a total joke that we have not been able to identify and appoint a technical director/director of football since this rumor started nearly 2 years ago. This just shows Woody is not willing to let go so easily. Seen this picture played out in the '70s and trust me you don't want a repeat show. This is going to get worse, much worse.
 
they are never leaving. the club is both paying their debts, and paying them millions in dividends. they don't give af about the fans or the club. they can't believe their luck.

I do hold some hope just based on the valuation of the club. If they are not willing to truly invest in the team and they see some inevitable financial reaction from the poor results then they might be open to listening to a massive offer (which the club would easily attract).

I think when Sir Alex was literally performing miracles season after season by winning with no investment and an outdated infrastructure they must have started to think it was easy. The harsh reality of the last few years might begin to become more of a strain now that we are no longer a Champions League club.

Its a sad state. As long as they get a steady flow of cash they are not going anywhere. It will have to get even worse before they sell. And they are ruining the fanbase.

Well yeah it is, if we get the wrong guy in(always a possibility, and no that's not me having a pop at Ed Woodward)he(i'm guessing it will be a he) could do more damage than good in the short and medium term, and if results don't improve once his first raft of signings come in does he get cut some slack because he's only just started, Rome not being built in a day and all, so do the fans continue to blame the Manager and/or the players because let's be honest were in a class of our own in England with the blame game - how long do we give the D.O.F to prove he is the right or wrong choice for the job? Or do we agree in advance that if there's no obvious improvement we sack the Manager, sack the Manager then sack the D.O.F, rinse repeat.
 
Still cant believe that I'm seeing talks of United getting relegated or even having that word tossed around with regards to United. Its decking unreal. A few years ago we were sweeping away teams on the way to title after title. Now we are drawing against teams like Astana and getting played off the park against teams like Newcastle.
Its unreal.
Why there is no real heat on the owners and Woodward after all this boggles my mind. Nevermind the manager. The real root issue is Woodward and the board that's enabling this free fall into oblivion.
 
So every other big club has a DoF/TD, a way of playing but for us, it'd be dangerous? Right. Yep, that's logical sense there.

Unbelievable how many people just cannot move with the times and evolve. "We never needed a DoF before, why do we need one now?!" Because football is the same as before? People need to move on. They're going on as if DoF is a new thing and there's ample proof on how it works. Yet to see a bad case if it?

What is clear, if we don't make changes, we'll stay stuck as we are.

I grew up watching Utd in the 70s and we reached 3 FA cup finals in 4 years(that was a massive achievement for any club back then).

We are nowhere near reaching that now and that's with most clubs only being half arsed about it.

Having seen the statements by Woodward regarding football people making football decisions and Ole saying that the manager has the final say in his own interview, I fear that Woodward is now using Ole as his shield to avoid making the necessary structural changes and to take the flake for all the bad decisions when they backfire. Woodward and Ole seem to agree on putting the brakes on the DOF or appointing a watered down version of the same, its a complete shambles and if the fans remain deluded seeing Ole as some sort of infallible legend we are going to wake up with our team in the Championship.

I was replying to another post about us being shit in the 70s and your right we are where we are.

It's Somtimes not bad to look back at your mistakes as that's how you learn and we have made the same mistakes as we did 50 rears ago.

Glazers/Woodward aside..

Fergie being moved upstairs and having a say on his successor was one mistake for a start and our obsession with the former players having to have some role at the club needs to stop.

Ole just trying to repeat all the CO92 bollocks won't work either.

They said one of the reasons Thomas cook failed is because it was an analogue company in a digital age and just got left behind by the TUIs and jet2s of this world.obviously football fans won't jump ship like holidaymakers but we set the standards in the 90s that most other clubs used as a template but now we are an example of how not to run a football club.

MUST are clueless and green and gold was a great idea but failed because it became a cash cow for swag men.

Agree with this and I think that the revenues we could get if we were actually competitive and winning would be immense and overshadow the supposed saving they have made in the last two summers of underinvestment. I'd also imagine that a guy like Ragnik or Luis Campo would do wonders with a net spend of around £150m. I think the task is much easier whilst we still have the money but if continue to underperform the fans will revolt and sponsors might start to get jittery.
