Music Glastonbury 2023

Jokes on you. The whole thing is a very deliberate attempt to stave that off!

On a scale of 1-1.5 how do you think that's going for you? Because I can't give you pointers, I'm worse. Despite crying at Elton John's butchering of candle whilst simultaneously air guitaring to some dirt rock...I'm still young dammit.

Must’ve been incredible. Seeings Songs For The Dead with Dave drumming is proper bucket list stuff.

I was young, under the influence and fresh in a new town, so never took it properly in. But I do remember it was right at the start of the album cycle where none of us knew DG played with them, it was a secret warm up gig, and we spent a long time after arguing about if it was actually him or not

Hoping we get

Crocodile Rock
Rocket Man
Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting
Circle of Life/Can You Feel Love Tonight
Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me
Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word
I’m Still Standing

I'm watching the Guns N' Roses set. Enjoying this far, far more than I thought it would be. Only criticism I have is that I think the vocal mixing is way too quiet on tv and Axl's vocal quality is a couple of steps below what the rest of the band are outputting - at least for the first quarter/third of the set - it is getting much better throughout. Slash is carrying them, to an extent.

This has looked like a great festival this year. Helped obviously by the amazing weather but there’s been some proper good stuff going on from what I’ve seen. Would really love to be there watching Elton!

I went to that Taylor Hawkins tribute show at Wembley last year as someone who can’t stand The Foo Fighters, with the hope that with Josh Homme being there, and Dave lending a hand on drums for most of the night, that they’d do a few tracks off of SFTD. Didn’t do a single song and ended up trapped in Wembley, unable to have a smoke, paying £10 a pint for Carling watching a band I hate.

The mix was awful, but it does get occasionally better.

Slash will never not carry.

Queens of the stone age should have been on Friday night instead of the Arctic Monkeys.

It's really odd because there are certain songs or lines where the vocals sound great and clear, and then it'll just sound very quiet for the next line. Barely audible for the first three or four songs.

Hats off to Axl for being so energetic on stage. He hasn't stood still once, so far.

Slash is fecking killing it. An absolute monster out there.

Ooof. Bad times.

If it helps, I remember Nick's bass destroying our ears. Also, I don't think there was a second guitarist so it was all classic bad ass Homme singing/noodling doing the heavy lifting.

Actually, not sure that helps at all

But that's what inspired me to start learning proper blues scales at least.

Surprised at the lack of love for Maneskin in here. Just watched their set back and thought it was seriously impressive.

Can't beat a bit of Blondie. Picture This is my fave.
The ageing process is a terrible thing.
She was absolutely stunning. Beautiful looks and lovely hair.
Now....not so. Such a shame.

But then, to an 80 year old geezer she’s still a stunner.

There’s too much focus on youth in our culture.

Age and wisdom are beautiful too.

I wonder how much longer The Arctic Monkeys will continue commanding headline slots at big festivals while they continue running all their old songs through their current jazz lounge sound filter.

I say this as someone who holds Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino in super high regard.

But at the end of the day, you’ve got to give the fans what they want.

They are borderline Spinal Tap territory now.
