German Football 2024/25

Damn, don't remember seeing Bayern being dominated like this in years. Don't think even City smothered them as much as Leverkusen did today. Bayern has 0 chances the whole game while Leverkusen could've scored 3-4 goals.

Bayern so relieved in the end, should be a lock for the title

Horrible game from Bayern but at least we can all laugh at Dortmund.

It seems you are on to something.
Actually no. The result was even worse than expected but more importantly the match was much more exciting than I expected. 3.00 vs 2.47xG, 18-17 shots. Not even close to what I expected to be a boring midfield battle without a lot of chances.

Very good performance from us but very good result for Bayern, unfortunately. I think it was the most onesided match between both teams since Alonso took over but it is what it is. The last matches were a bit underwhelming, IMO, but this match makes me very optimistic for the future :)

I would agree with that. You were clearly the better team, so it kinda was payback for the game in Munich which ended 1:1 after Bayern being clearly better.

Yes and it was pretty unexpected, IMO. In his first matches against you, Alonso chose brave approaches but in the 3:0 last season was a turning point. It was the first time he showcased real tactical flexibility by sitting deep and countering and after that, Alonso chose to approach matches this way much more regularly. After parking the bus against you twice it culminated in an almost cowardly match against the BVB at the beginning of the year in which Dortmund had 70% (!) possession.

So this came as a huge surprise for me and in the light of this, I'm not entirely sure whether the impressions we gave in recent top matches were down to cautious tactics or bad implementation of more proactive ideas. Both Rolfes and Alonso had criticized our decision making, positioning and overall retention of possession after the matches against you. I have the feeling Saturday was how Alonso had intended to play but our possession play and pressing simply weren't working, only the counter play and box defending functioned.

One way or another, I was pessimistic about the next UCL round because I really didn't see us going through over two legs against you guys but I deem our chances much bigger now if we indeed draw you guys :)

The result was great - like for Leverkusen in the first match. But - Leverkusen left us only the smallest chances from open play and a bigger chance for Olise in that first match - they defended really great and the 1:1 came from lucky shots from both sides. This time the offense was so toothless that they never have been since about 20 years - and Leverkusen had various big chances... It was just luck - not because of a good defense whereas Leverkusen in the first match defended really great.

HecKING really revived Bochum, impressive how they look like a good team now.
