Geovany Quenda - Summer 2025

If a 17 year old puts in a stand out performance (assist etc) in the champions league vs Man City why would anyone be hung up on €40m? Or Stoke city Hypotheticals?

He has a lot that we currently lack. Pace, the willingness to attack his man, work rate.

Scout him more to make sure there are no crazy hidden red flags. Other wise it’s a no brainer.

I wonder if he will be found out in the Prem, it’s great playing in a team dominating the ball and in a less physical league. But can he do it on a rainy night in Stoke blah blah.
Arsenal is the new Stoke.

Not sure how he fared against them earlier this season in the CL.

is there any thustworthy links linking him to us or is this all a wish scenario some journos put up?

Both a gamble I guess. But one I’m prepared to back. I just fear for the toxicity around the club if a17/18 year old doesn’t hit the ground running in a key position. Our fans are showing this season that they have no patience for a slow build.

Yeah but he has a bit of Garnacho in him - even if he has an off-day, he is so quick and direct that he will create chances. And I would much rather have someone like him than a 1-dimentional and slow winger like Antony

Yeah but he also looks a better technician than Garnacho. His more ambitious passes find their man and he seems like a better dribbler. He definitely seems to have a few wild shots in him like Garna but expect both of them to improve their shooting/decision making around shooting over time.

this is a kid that clearly shows he's not afraid of playing in big matches against top teams while expressing himself on the ball.....we really could use this kid on the outside

Especially it is clear that we go for the young players

We've looked so much better when playing an attacking player in that position with Amad. Quenda looks similar to me in that he's a comfortable dribbler, good with the ball in tight spaces and quick at closing, so I'd be happy to sign another player like that.

If we don't get it right with the wing backs we look so sterile. Frimpong might do a serviceable job there but it wouldn't excite me.
Bruv Frimong can literally operate as an actual winger in a 4-2-3-1. He is far more adept at attacking than you imagine

Listen I'm not against signing him, it's just that we need to find the right balance and can't build the team around teenagers. Since we gotta integrate our own talents such as Heaven, Kukonki, Amass/Leon, Kone and Obi, and considering our limited budget, I would prefer players in their early/mid 20s. People here doubting Frimpong while thinking Quenda would walk straight into our first 11 need a reality check. One has proven himself for many years in that position, while the other is just at the beginning of his career playing in a weaker league.

I would rather we spend big on 2-3 supertalents and snap up 2-3 experienced players who are out of contract or has 1 year left. That is a much better value for money

The market has changed. Just look at the spending in January in the PL, it's very heavily focused on younger players. A few years to develop, but also sell on potential.

I would really prefer us to buy Elanga back to play RWB. I have no particular desire for what I consider something of a nonsense of an ‘inverted wing back’. I thought the whole point of the position was to maintain width, and a player who wants to play inside does not seem like the common sense way to go about that.

We’ve also complained about lack of service for our centre forward - surely a natural right footer would be more inclined to provide delivery? If we have a left-footer inside and a left-footer outside - who is supposed to cross the ball with consistency?

Because spending big has worked wonders for us.

Sancho, Maguire, Pogba, Di Maria, Casemiro. Brilliant for United, the lot of them.

I doubt he would want to come back

Hard to believe he's only 17 and already showing that kind of bravery and confidence in his play. Something I think our team lacks at the moment.

His behaviour since leaving leaves little to desire. Both in terms of how he talks about the club, but also in terms of how he behaved towards the swedish NT coach.

I wasn’t aware tbh, although I struggle to keep up with all the players who are supposed to have some sort of asterisk attached by way of personality. Within reason, I have little interest in how these footballers behave anyway. I imagine the sum total of it is generally 23 year olds acting like 23 year olds. From what I see of Elanga, he is a dedicated professional and that’s enough for me.

I haven’t heard his comments, but fans get in their feelings way too much. He’s a professional footballer, and would almost certainly rather play for Manchester United instead of Nottingham Forest. I miss the days before this 24/7 360 football show tbh, it’s excessive and everyone is over-informed now.

Not sure he meant spending big on the likes of those players. I think he means super talented younger players. The get 2-3 experienced free agents or in last year of contract and don't get robbed like with Mason Mount.

He's clearly talking about those seen to be the next of the best.

Madrid have shown that this is the best way forward and we need to go down this route to have any chance of getting back to the top. Yoro was a great start.
