Those doubting the move will come to realise he's a very good player over the next 12 months.
He'll grow at Chelsea.

I had my reservations about Cahill when Bolton were shipping goals at the start of the season, I put that down to his head being turned but in his games for Chelsea and England I haven't been impressed.
I agree, I don't know what the fuss is about. Obviously Chelsea have seen something for them to let him hold them to ransom (reportedly), but I think he's no more than a decent defender. Him and Luiz as a defensive partnership is awful. They were a shambles against us, and it was the main reason I expected us to beat them comfortably, somehow they managed to get three before us though.
If the next England manager plans on having him as a first choice centre back (particularly once the likes of Terry and Rio have biked it) they can forget about any serious ambition to win a major tournament.
Honestly
Wanderers boss Owen Coyle saying: "The word derisory doesn't even cover it. When I make an offer for a player, I'd like to think in the right ball park, but this wasn't even close." England international centre-back Cahill reportedly has a release fee of £17 million written into his Bolton contract, which is due to expire at the end of next season. He fits the profile of the imposing, aerially-dominant defender that Wenger is searching for in order to shore up a defence that was alarmingly leaky last season, surrendering 43 goals in the league.
And Wenger insists he is willing to pay more than £6 million to secure the 25-year-old's signature. "It's completely wrong and nothing to do with how much we are ready to pay," he said.
"I believe the negotiation is between two parties and you only have to sell if you can agree on the price. In this case the information is below what has been spoken about.
"You can believe me, or you can believe [Bolton chairman Phil Gartside]. I just tell you that it's not right, it's not the truth. And if Gartside says I am lying, I'm ready to confront him."
Fking embarrassing.
Wenger's completely lost his marbles - the man's a joke
Why on earth go through all this bollocks ?
Arsenal / Wenger know his worth as do bolton - just agree to more or less split it - thats what happens in 90% of all transfers
Fksakes it's just so Wenger / SO Wenger . If Utd City or Chelsea fancied Cahill they stroll in and hijack the deal in ten fking minutes
Wenger you tight cvnt, pay the fking money and get him - Christ sakes
I'm on the side of offering £10m up top, with another £3m in add-ons. That would just about do it as far as I can tell. £6m is a complete joke, principally because that offer would probably not even give them the money up front.
He's not THAT bad. Not world class but not yet peaked as a defender, and better imo than most of Arsenals other CBs (Vermaelen being the exception).
In todays market he is easily worth £10m.
What game were they watching?!
Could very possibly displace Rio or Terry...

Townsend clearly hasn't seen Cahill telling Smalling to track Huntelaar, apparently Smalling was compelled to track a run Cahill already had covered.
This shows it perfectly.

That was a huge mistake that ended up costing the game.
