Garnacho: What is his potential?

Kept going all game. With better players on he was able to make a bigger difference.

He's got that finesse that will take him far.

Even when it’s not his best day, he’s so much more dangerous than the likes of Antony and Sancho from the wing. His combination of pace, technique, directness and confidence is pretty special. He’s the type of winger that frightens the opponent.

We're only seeing bits and pieces. Once he grows into his body and becomes stronger on the ball then we'll have a closer idea of his real level

He keeps going, head is never down. When you have that mental strength along with the talent you know he can take on the world in a few years.

The way he controls the ball, you can tell straight away he's going to be special.

I thought he was poor until the last 15 minutes, then he was great. Fantastic goal and he looked very dangerous once our better players came on.

I know they play on opposite flanks, but Garnacho offers everything Antony brings to the table plus much more.

Antony's ball retention and off-ball movement (especially when we're pressing the opponent far up the pitch) is key and no other winger in our squad does those things as well as him. Whereas Garnacho is more explosive, pacy and can get past defenders much better. Both of them have good ball-striking ability.

EDIT: Also, Antony's press resistance is also really good (that's one of the reasons ETH bought him...like with Martínez and Malacia)

I think what impresses me most about him is his relentless attitude. Nothing phases him. He will take on his man and get beaten, yet he's back there with the ball again. He doesn't lose confidence.

They offer totally different things to the team.

Better starter, worse sub, based on this season, though both will improve presumably as they're 18 and 23 and Ten Hag rates Antony and seems to be getting most things right.

Not yet he doesn't, Antony is way ahead on defensive ability and ball retention, as he should be given the age and experience difference, that isn't a criticism, it's something you learn as you play more

Only a matter of time before Real Madrid comes along sniffing. I hope Garnacho gets tied down with some ridiculous buy out clause on his contract

This pretty much. Yesterday we saw him getting wrestled off the ball quite often when trying to dribble.

Amongst his many attributes is that he is fearless and prepared to match his skill and pace with anyone.
That is a rare quality.

Hope the lad keeps himself grounded. I remember being equally excited by Januzaj's breakthrough season  - but i suppose it helped that he was one of the only positive things during the Chosen Ones season :(

But yeah, Garnacho has all the tools to make it to the very top (tbf, being an important squad member for MUFC as a teen means you're already at the very top ).

He was sloppy and poor tonight BUT he's 18 and he has magic quality, just needs to get consistent but that's a few years away so patience.

The kid got a well and truly deserved MOTM, scored a brilliantly and maturely taken goal, and likely could have had another. Against a team that spent the first half out-performing us.

Are you sure you weren't watching a replay of another game?

Again, I saw him lose the ball and misplace passes etc but he scored. AGAIN (ffs) I'm not calling him a bum, just thought outside of the goal he was a bit inconsistent.

disagree, Antony is fantastic off the ball. Garnacho has a lot of holes in his game when we don't have the ball.

I don't care what Butt of P.Nev said, but Januzaj never had the athleticism and explosivity to his game that warranted all that excitement/over the top hype (comparison to Ronaldo's first season, 40m mooted transfer to Real etc). I was in the newbie at the time and pushed back against that. If he hadn't let the fame got to his head, maybe he could have a career like a Mata or Eriksen, top player who never quite reached world class level due to physical limits.

Garnacho on the other hand, you can clearly see that what holds him back is only time and experience. He's utterly fearless, technically superb both with his ball carrying and striking, fast as feck and has all the tricks in his repertoire to go inside or outside his marker. Once he grows into his full body and learns how to operate out of possession better, he will be a nightmare for fullbacks up and down the league.

If he who shall not be named wasn't such a massive dickwad, we could've had a frontline of youth team/academy product that can rival any in the world. Alas, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

He really doesn’t. They’re completely different players. Anthony has more ability to drive into the final third from the halfway line. Garnacho is better at beating a man in the final third.

They’re both wingers but they’re really quite different.

His pace, but more importantly his control at pace is world class, as is his fearless mentality. Some of his crossing and finishing this year has been excellent.

The question is whether he can build up his strength and fitness without impacting his acceleration, but the signs are very good.

Was one of the few last night trying to be positive and speed up the play, might be because he is a bit fresher than some..

But his ability to beat a man is sublime.
He's a real talent, deserved player of the match last night as was a constant threat.

Ones a 90 million pound winger, the other is Antony.

Both of them are good players, neither of them are worth anything close to that at the moment.

Like I said, both of them are good players and offer totally different things to the team which is a huge positive.

Garnacho has been brilliant. End product, especially goals wise, is incredible for someone so young.

But I'd still say Ronaldo was the better player. Just more electrifying. I still have yet to see a debut like the one against bolton ever in my life.

I distinctly remember that even Forlan was grinning from ear to ear at the absolute piss taking Ronaldo was doing that day.
