Gareth Bale

The more negative the news gets about Sancho, the more positive the links with Real players become. Wouldn't be surprised if we're offering to take Bale as leverage against Reguilon's buy back clause. Got a feeling we'll get both and ditch Sancho.

Thanks for mentioning something that happened once somewhere else to someone else.

Have you ever see Bale look like he's having a miserable time? Ever? To me he looks like a guy who feels like he has been frozen out by Zidane and has decided to give absolutely zero fecks about it.

Baggio's story was revealed at his retirement tribute documentary which was shown by Mediaset (ie owned by AC Milan's owner of the time). The story wasn't told by Baggio himself but by Mazzone ie a football icon who couldn't give a feck about what Inter could think about it. At the time Baggio simply vanished from the pitch. All sort of excuses were made to justify his absence and many thought that the guy was injured.

Players would rarely reveal something of that sort especially if they are still under contract. That's because the club would fine the crap out of them and would use all every means possible to make them look bad. You really wouldn't want the club to hate you as they have the loyalty of fans and the club's media in their hand. It takes just one disgruntled half mad fan who values his club more then his freedom to end you.

Surely it shouldn't be Sancho or Bale. Find some exiting RW out there. Just don't bring Bale here.

People are willing to see all the hardwork we've put through the past 2 year take a set back because they want to satisfy their inner muppets?

The guy practically goes against everything Ole been preaching and now we'll just take him? Come on.

I ought to stay away from this thread, this is becoming depressing as time passes.

Will just have my fingers crossed this doesn't happen and I'm still hopeful it won't but staying in here will make me feel like these deal has a chance to happen which is just depressing.

Even a one year loan isn't a good solution, but if we get Sancho 100% next season I'll accept it, but it's far from ideal.

If you told me we were getting Bale for a year, then Sancho in 2021, I'd be happy. Very happy.

If you said we were getting just Bale, with the worry of turning him into another Sanchez on a permanent deal... :(

Would be a fantastic option on loan but I'd like to think we had other options than just Sancho.

Won’t mind getting him on loan with Real paying most of his wages. I trust Ole and his staff to get him to perform and it’s relative risk free if it’s a year loan.

We'd better not be paying him anything. Whatever it is, take it and throw it in the Sancho pot. Bale had his chance in 2013, and has been on the injury table or the golf course ever since.

Who cares that he chose Real 7 years ago, honestly what difference does that make?

He’s played 250 games for Real.

In what context though? Would you rather pay Bale 300k a week or Sancho 200k a week and get 10 years out of him? Bale is a pensioner now, is not as mobile as some people are imagining him to be. Also would you rather pay the Glazers 100 million dividends or use that 100 million to buy Sancho? Bale makes no sense, he won't come here for 100k a week, just get Sancho.
Because he has outstanding quality, perfect technical ability and is awesome cutting in from the flanks. If he is a loan then i would bet we would be paying half of his wages. He is a triple Champions League winner and big game player. He would be a good option if United dont want to pay the money for Sancho. We could buy Sancho next summer potentially, and if Sancho really isn't prepared to force the move through then maybe he can wait til next summer. He obviously isn't desperate to come here. And if we miss out on him to another team then there will always be another player we could get.

I'd obviously rather Sancho, but Bale is a huge player and id be much more confident in him playing well for us then Sanchez for example.

Bale hasn’t been interested in football for 18 months. Prior to that he could barely stay fit 2 weeks in a row.

This would be a complete waste of time and money.

Sanchez is the reason that players like Rashford and Martial are vastly overpaid earning over £200k a week.

If we're happy to give Bale even half his Madrid wage - which I gather would be around £300k a week - then agents of players already at our club and of any player we target going forward will be popping champagne.

£300k a week to someone who's shown no motivation to get his career back on track, and who has been content to not only waste his prime years but to actually take the piss out of both himself and Madrid while doing so....

Beyond belief. We've had so much overpaid shíte and mercenaries at the club in recent years and people want this joker to come on board...

Bruno will end up looking for 400k a week in a couple of years. Rashy will want a payrise, so will Martial. Bang average shíte like Lindelof, Wan-Bissaka and Shaw will see the massive wages we're paying and will want some.

We were absolutely blessed beyond belief to get rid of Sanchez after all the damage he did and were left with a lot of overpaid players as a result. And now you want to sign back up to that again with Bale, who hasn't been world class in a long time at that.

Thick as thieves.

If we cannot complete the Sancho deal this year, its better to wait. Like Liverpool did with VVD.

Bale as a loan option until next year is fine by me.

No just no. Please NO. NOOOOOOOO. God NO. Please heavenly Father don't let it happen.

No.

Give the guy some respect, used to be one o the best players in the world just a few years ago. Atleast better than hearing about Brooks xD

Narrative that Bale is a bad player or hasn't been at his best is slightly convoluted imo. He hasn't been given many chances to play and even when he does get them he performs well in general. Seeing him play for Wales shows he has a bit of fire left.

Regarding the wages, Bale would only get massive wages due to his current wages and it's a contextual scenario. I am sure we have over paying in wages for Ighalo, but that is due to him already being on a high wage, and not a case like Sanchez where we literally doubled the wages to force a move through. So the scenarios you are comparing is not an apple to apple comparison.

I don’t for a second think Bale would be an Ole signing and completely a Woodward signing, wasn’t there rumours the other week of them two disagreeing over transfers ? Ole clearly wants Sancho but Woodward doesn’t want to pay the fee whilst Bale is Woodward’s wet dream yet doesn’t fit what Ole wants at all.

For those that keep saying Sanchez or Schweinsteiger 2.0....
Why's it so hard to understand the difference between a loan and permanent transfer? I have not seen one person suggesting we sign him on a permanent transfer.

He definitely worth risking a loan on, and out of pure fascination would love to see him back in the PL.

A 32 year old Wilian can still do a great job for Arsenal, but Bale at 31 with 4 CL medals is already finished.

Bale is still a terrific player if he stays healthy. Is he really unfit is Real or both side chose to say he is unfair? Bale on loan is a great move with Real paying half his wages. I will not hesitate to do that deal. If Ed manage to negotiate Sancho before the transfer deadline closes, I am sure we we will enough firepower to match Liverpool, City and Chelsea. I wouldn't be surprise if we finish above them. These 2 players can potentially push us to the next level.

It's this year or never for Sancho. More attractive options will go for him next summer. United won't finish top 4 if they don't significantly strengthen the side before the window shuts. And as that looks unlikely to happen we can forget about Sancho.

So did Sanchez(much more recently than Bale) or Falcao or Schweinsteiger, I could go on. The point is it's irrelevant today, not to mention he's a Jones lite.

How do you know he doesn’t give a shit about playing football? He turns up for Wales every time, playing second rate international teams on crap pitches dotted around Europe.

If he gave a shit he'd have left Real Madrid ages ago instead of just sitting around taking his fat paycheck, one thing people should credit Smalling for, he actually wants to play football instead of staying here like those bums Rojo and Jones, bleeding us for cash they don't earn rather than seek to actively move to a club where they'll play. That aside none of it alters the fact he's well past his best with his key attributes faded.

You know, Bale on a 1 year loan is not a bad idea. He needs to play to be ready for the Euro next year, so he'll be motivated. Adding Sancho will get us 3rd place at best. But a Bale going supernova might actually get us the title. It's certainly a high risk high reward gamble.

Because even on loan we'd be spending a fortune on him in salaries and not to mention the likelihood of him being crap here. Dude is a retired golfer who has hardly play any competitive football the last 2 years and is injury prone to top it. Even a single loan year isn't worth it. Sanchez was crap for us from the get go, we didn't even manage to get a decent month of performance out of him and here we're talking a guy who actually still wants to play football and succeed.

The chances of Bale being a downright flop like Sanchez are also pretty high due to several factors ranging from his fitness issues, to him not actually being a top level footballer he was some years ago like some seem to believe, hasn't played much football in almost 2 years, has lost pace which was his main weapon in in his prime. That's without even mentioning that his presence could cause disharmony in the squad. Why should any of our top performers be content watching Bale cash in the most dough when he'd likely be sitting on a treatment table and golfing for most of the season.

A loan would suit all parties involved and Real Madrid would save on paying any wages....
Erm we better not entertain paying his wages.
To be honest even paying 300k is ridiculous

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
(In case you misread its A Big No)

Those three players cannot and will not play 60 games each this season. We have the most compacted season in the history of the game. Game time will not be an issue.

Well, they are very young and very strong. If it was needed, I wouldn't put it past them to do it. Just, obviously, Ole wants them fresh for these big champions league games.

Would really depend on the wages terms whether this would be worth a punt....

it’s fair to say that everyone thinks that Bale is washed up, but the reality is he hasn’t really played for the last 2 years so probably is in better condition than you think - his problem has been motivation, or lack of.

He feels that he’s been badly treated and dug his heels in - there is a good possibility if given the chance away from RM that he will be motivated to show what he can do and get his mojo back.....can he stay fit - that’s the million dollar question

still doesn’t resolve our right side attacking problem if the last 6 years though

THIS, fecking THIS exactly !!!

For some reason some people talking about Bale as if it were 5 years ago or something. Some people have somehow managed to convinced themselves that they'd be getting a prime or even decent Bale that will be instrumental to us. Even if we ignore all the issues ranging from fitness(He'll drop in the first week or 2 then join Jones in the physio room for months end), club's harmony(Why would any of our top performers be happy and content seeing a has been, past it dude rack up more dough then them when he'd most likely be spending most of his time on the injury table) there is still the fact that he is way past it and isn't all that anymore.

Why would anyone want this guy, honestly?

It's madness, even worse than those trying to convince themselves igalho was a good idea, Ole clearly realized quickly that he wasn't up to it and has used him less and less. This will be even worse as like you say we'll be paying him stupid money in comparison to players that are actually useful to us. This is Schweinsteiger all over again, half a decade too late.

I think if anything it would benefit them to have one of the most decorated and talented players in our lifetime playing alongside them.

There's been a lot of revisionism about Bale, but he is still fecking class.

Sure! Much like Ibrahimovic helped Rashford at the beggining (although Ibra is probably more of a dressing room leader than Bale)
