Didn’t Michael Owen love his horse riding during his free time and yet Fergie brought him here to the club?
You don't see me using that against Mcneill. Why? Cause he is a young hungry lad who wants to succeed. Same with Pogba who turned us down under Sir Alex. He wanted to play, we didn't give him enough games and he returned home when the time was right. None of them were/are in search of their final pay cheque
Bailed is finding it hard to motivate himself at Real and at 600k a week. Do you think he will find that motivation with a team he turned down? His signing goes against Ole's philosophy and will probably recreate a Sanchez V2.0 situation, with players wondering why a golfer is being paid more then them.
You’re not allowed to have hobbies outside the game these daysDidn’t Michael Owen love his horse riding during his free time and yet Fergie brought him here to the club?
I know it is. It was just a passing thought and a joke that I replied to @Sandikan
He’s got his own stable.. Manor horses or somethingDidn’t Michael Owen love his horse riding during his free time and yet Fergie brought him here to the club?
Owen was on 30k a week salary. Bale would be one of the highest paid players if he joined on loanDidn’t Michael Owen love his horse riding during his free time and yet Fergie brought him here to the club?
As always a very good point. Never followed the happenings at other clubs besides United. I have no idea what's gone on between Madrid and Bale. Seems self-defeating on both sides. How many players have been put in that position though? I can't think many elite players have fallen out of favour so far that their club has so little interest in them. You wonder whether the lack of motivation is what precipitated that, because it so rarely happens to top professionals.
So it’s not an issue that he turned down the club? If that’s the case, thanks for clarifying. It was therefore a bit of an unnecessary rant.
Real and Bale are probably equally to blame for his situation. He agreed to go to China last year, but Madrid pulled the deal - if they didn’t he would have gone. Real have wanted a massive fee for him, which hasn’t been justified, and no one would pay it.
Is Bale finished, unmotivated? Perhaps?
I, in no way advocate buying him, indeed I’ve not seen anyone do so. Where have you got this from?
However, a 1 year loan, on significantly reduced wages would be a risk worth taking. That’s what I think would work for United.
If he performs well, he puts himself in the shop window for one last big contract.
This seems an obvious solution to me as well. If there is no Sancho there is no better solution for the season ahead.I'd take him on a 1 year loan if we don't get Sancho.
Exactly. If we could give fecking Ighalo a loan deal, what's wrong with giving him one! This seems an obvious solution to me as well. If there is no Sancho there is no better solution for the season ahead.
I will bend the knee to those outraged and say loan only with at least half the wages covered by Madrid.
At this stage of his career and with this player it is an issue. We are not talking of present Ronaldo here or a 34 year old Becks who would have died on the pitch just to end his United's career on a good note. Bailed is a player who is struggling to remain motivated at 600k a week. Good luck persuading him to do that with us despite proving that he can't care less about this club.
How do you know he doesn’t give a shit about playing football? He turns up for Wales every time, playing second rate international teams on crap pitches dotted around Europe. The delusion is real in here, he's been past it for ages and doesn't give a shit about playing football, his game was massively reliant on pace and athleticism he no longer has, we might as well just go and get Buendia on the cheap from Norwich.
Heck he's apparently reported injured after finally playing 1 half of football for WalesThe guy is done. Pride or otherwise is secondary.
People suddenly see that he is not getting injured and think Zidane or Real is the only problem. He is not getting injured because he is not playing.
Come back to the intensity of PL and he will be getting injured again.
I'd rather play VDB or Bruno there, and bring in Fred or Scott. We need to sign a RW before the window closes. This isn't my 1st or even 3rd choice, but what's to lose with a short term loan if RM pay >50% of his wages and there is performance clause in his contract? It's a gamble to see if Ole can motivate Bale to care again, but one I'd back.
I do see the argument about him disrupting the dressing room, either from a personality or salary standpoint.
But it would be madness to go into the season with Greenwood as our only decent RW. He is young and is guaranteed to be inconsistent. Mata or Lingard as our RW backup is recipe for disaster...

Half his wages are still north of 300k a week.
According to BBC he’s on 400,000 other sources have him at 350,000. I’m sorry but there is no way that he’s on 600,000.And that's still 250+. Stupid wages especially for a player who is most likely to spend more time together with Phil Jones than on the pitch.
He jumped at the chance to come here as an ex Liverpool golden boy to play on a humble wage, slightly differentDidn’t Michael Owen love his horse riding during his free time and yet Fergie brought him here to the club?

Why would anyone want this guy, honestly?

An ageing, money-centric, unmotivated, crock with no match sharpness?
What could possibly go wrong?
AS is absolutely terrible for Madrid news or any team in general. It’s basically a football tabloid. It’s the equivalent of you taking the Sun’s reporting on wages as gospel.https://en.as.com/en/2020/04/05/football/1586091772_237072.html
The first one, red and circled, is Gareth Bale. The Welsh attacker is the highest paid player on €29 million (€14.5 net per year)
€29m = €600k/week
Come on United you can do this. I am crossing my fingers.
You'll still be paying 50% of his salary. Watch him pull up trees at United.Come on United you can do this. I am crossing my fingers.

This is what I've been saying throughout this thread. Some people on these boards don't have any right to call Woodward incompetent considering their questionable opinions about this whole Bale thing.Because they are muppets.
Once he inevitably fails, they can muppet about the next guy and call Woodward and Judge names for being incompetent.
Rinse, repeat.
