Real and Bale are probably equally to blame for his situation. He agreed to go to China last year, but Madrid pulled the deal - if they didn’t he would have gone. Real have wanted a massive fee for him, which hasn’t been justified, and no one would pay it.
Is Bale finished, unmotivated? Perhaps?

However, a 1 year loan, on significantly reduced wages would be a risk worth taking. That’s what I think would work for United.

As always a very good point. Never followed the happenings at other clubs besides United. I have no idea what's gone on between Madrid and Bale. Seems self-defeating on both sides.
At this stage of his career and with this player it is an issue. We are not talking of present Ronaldo here or a 34 year old Becks who would have died on the pitch just to end his United's career on a good note. Bailed is a player who is struggling to remain motivated at 600k a week. Good luck persuading him to do that with us despite proving that he can't care less about this club.

This seems an obvious solution to me as well. If there is no Sancho there is no better solution for the season ahead.

The fact you hold a grudge against him because he “turned us down” is as pathetic, as it is short sighted. It’s not in the slightest a consideration of whether we should pursue Bale or not.

We need to sign a RW before the window closes. This isn't my 1st or even 3rd choice, but what's to lose with a short term loan if RM pay >50% of his wages and there is performance clause in his contract? It's a gamble to see if Ole can motivate Bale to care again, but one I'd back.

For some reason some people talking about Bale as if it were 5 years ago or something. Some people have somehow managed to convinced themselves that they'd be getting a prime or even decent Bale that will be instrumental to us. Even if we ignore all the issues ranging from fitness(He'll drop in the first week or 2 then join Jones in the physio room for months end), club's harmony(Why would any of our top performers be happy and content seeing a has been, past it dude rack up more dough then them when he'd most likely be spending most of his time on the injury table) there is still the fact that he is way past it and isn't all that anymore.

We are playing hard ball on paying for sancho so I'd expect the same for Bale and his wages. I'd say we would offer Madrid for us to pay 200k a week for his wages on a take it or leave it loan deal. Even taking 200k a week off their wage bill and if Bale performs then they might get a decent fee for him at the end of the loan, from us or someone else. No value buying him now for any team other than USA or China teams as a marketing tool.
According to BBC he’s on 400,000 other sources have him at 350,000. I’m sorry but there is no way that he’s on 600,000.

If he was to turn into another Sneijder or Robben it'd be a big boost to a team like ours. The British factor does help a bit, you'd think if any thing's going to motivate him at this stage it'd be winning a league in his home country. Feels more Michael Owen than Arjen Robben though.
It most feels like Falcao, actually. At first it made no sense. Then it sounded like a relatively risk free gamble and I warmed up to it. I'm doing the same here! I've no idea what he plays like these days but if he wants to take players on and use the space out wide, it would be a useful alternative to Greenwood.

This is what I've been saying throughout this thread. Some people on these boards don't have any right to call Woodward incompetent considering their questionable opinions about this whole Bale thing.
One would think after going through a whole list of stars rejects(or not) from other teams who came here to flop(Di Maria, Falcao, Sanchez etc) people would have learned and wised up by now but I guess the Muppet in some people is just too strong to contain.
We've literally just came out of getting rid of Sanchez and his massive wages, literally just a few weeks ago. Plenty of people including same muppets championing for Bale currently were praying for anyone to take Sanchez off our hands yet as soon as that episode is over people want to turn around and try to get into another similar situation, accommodating past it players and gifting them high wages. This is beyond fickle.
Some posters should honestly never go around bad mouthing Ed and lambasting him for his poor choice and incompetence considering they've shown and proven themselves far worse if we take into account the things they've written in this thread and their willingness to welcome Bale the crock.
