Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

It doesn't really bother me but you can't tar every Madrid supporter with the same brush. I've said time and time again that the fees mentioned are ridiculous.

Every supporter I've spoken to thinks the same about this by the way. Bale is a good player but he doesn't shit golden eggs.

Real have becoem the biggest joke in football since the galactico concept, graveyard for great players, managers and potential w/class players, only Mourinhio, Ronaldo were somehow so strong willed enough to put up with it, but lookes like that cookies already crumbling. Real's first touch and passing was attrocious on Sunday, and when Ronaldo doesn't click, they badly struggle. If they were playing barca it would have been embarissing, people underestimate the stability and discipline Mourinhio brought to that collection of prima donnas.

Sorry, my bad. I'll just take all the stick aimed at my club with a smile from now on.

It wasn't actually stick, Madrid are a big club, but in recent years their dick waving about players and transfer fees has been a bit over the top. Every 2 or 3 years, a mass exodus happens at Madrid where good quality players go for cheap prices and equivalent and sometimes less talented players come in for higher fees, then yes people laugh at Madrid's spending. Nothing to do with the number of CL wins or number of league titles.

I really like you Vato, good decent honest poster, I know you're not the same as other sheep.

What do you mean the banks will bail them out? My point is they already owe Spurs X million over X years due to Modric, why would Levy want to bump the payments up when he could sell Bale to say PSG etc or someone willing to offer cash up front, especially the way Spurs are spending it...

No-one would be paying anywhere near that much up front. Hardly any £20m+ deals are cash up front.

If he really does go for £93 million I can only see him 'flopping'. If you look at his figures from this season, they're very good, but compared to Messi and Ronaldo, they're not even close, and that's what the Madrid fans will judge him by. They'll expect him to be as good, if not better then Ronaldo. So even, what would normally be considered a good season, say 30 goals/assists will be judged as failure, all because of the price tag.

Oh really? Then my understanding was skewed, I thought most deals were cash up front or a major portion of that cash up front and that RM tended to be the one's (Due to the extortionate fee's they pay) who tended to do these buy now, pay later deals..

We won't though, at least not the people with half a brain. I'll expect him to be good, just as I expect from every player playing for us, but Messi and Ronaldo are freaks.

Where did this last rumour come from by the way? I can't seem to find anything new on this to be honest.

Didn't Ronaldo get some boo's in his first season, or there was at least some murmurings of discontent about his performance? I seem to remember something along the lines of some fans expecting more from a £80 million player.

You.re good Vato, but a lot of Madrid supporters lack the brain. They will boo him if he won't be near as good as Ronaldo (and he won't).

whats the feeling in spain regarding this fee Vato? (i'm assuming you're actually in spain)
aren't spains finances in the toilet like the rest of Europe? and yet here's their premeir club about to pump 100m into a british club
surely there's been some public outcry or at least some politicans jumping up and down about this

It's on Sky Sports Italia, with a bit about Lamela:
Bale a un passo dal Real: accordo raggiunto. TRATTATIVE

Sembra ci sia l'accordo tra il Tottenham e il club spagnolo per 93 milioni di sterline. Sabatini a Londra per la cessione di Lamela agli Spurs.

Bale just a step away from Real: agreement reached. NEGOTIATIONS There seems to be the agreement between Tottenham and the Spanish club for 93 million pounds. Sabatini in London for the sale of Lamela to Spurs.

Here's a little more from the Italian Sky Sports site:

The club of Florentino Perez arrived to offer 93 million pounds to make sure of the Welshman, now seems to be only a matter of time to close the deal. Tottenham had already moved for substitutes and has raised the offer for Willian up to 35 million, waiting for news on the front Lamela.

Credit to Levy though - selling Bale for a huge fee and getting replacements pronto. Willian & Lamela are two class players.

Surely a Madrid fan will judge him on the basis on what impact his goals and assists will have in games against Barcelona and in the latter stages or final of the CL, then scoring hatricks against the likes of Levante and Getafe.

Dunno mate, don't remember anything of the sort. Mind you, I don't even remember what I ate this morning.
I don't really get what people could expect more from a player though? Do they want him to maintain the pitch or help clean up the stadium after games?

I don't live in Spain but I assume you aren't wrong with your assumptions seeing as Spain's economy is far worse than the rest of Europe at the moment.

Has Swissramble ever done an analysis on whether RM can afford to maintain this credit card madness?

The TV money alone would keep them well, even if that means near bankrupcy in several teams in the league. More than double what United made as champions, wasn't it? Big commercial deals, player shirt sales, and if all that fails, there's the city of Madrid to fund some state aid.

Levy is a genius, he has bought quality players this summer and if the rumours are true he has now sold Bale for £93m plus Contraeo

Cheers Penna, sincerely hope they're wrong, at least for that amount of money. It just doesn't feel right if we sign a player that's more expensive than Ronaldo.

Is this the overriding feeling amongst your fans?

I just don't see how he can be considered worthy of such a lofty pricetag. There's no way he's going to replicate Ronaldo's goalscoring record, for example.

I can't speak for everyone offcourse but the fans I know in real life think the same as me, this is way too much money for a player that hasn't proved himself at the top level.

Ronaldo was different, he was the main man at one of Europe's top clubs and was crowned world player of the year. It was a ridiculous fee aswell but it was more or less justifiable.

The fan surveys, including the "socios only" survey are against the signing - particularly at a record price. 60-70m was the figure the ones who want him bought seem to be willing to pay.

It seems to have become very much a Perez signing now - not a by popular acclaim demand. They've been advised he'll be good for the marketing profile

I don't think Ancelotti knows what he'll do with him.

The Madrid fans I know are worried about reducing Ronaldo's effectiveness rather than looking forward to being less dependent on him.

Surely they have to let one of Modric or Ozil go now. How the hell are they gonna fit Bale in there? Assuming,

Ronaldo/Bale/Isco/Benzema as the front 4

If the figures talked abut are true,Levy as pulled of another masterstroke.

To be honest I'm worried about his "happyness" and therefore his willingness to stay when we priced someone higher than him. Because, let's be honest, Ronaldo cares about stuff like that.

If its true, I can't help feeling that Real Madrid have made the biggest mistake of all time.

I'm pretty sure that it isn't true. Even Perez wouldn't pay that much, not for Bale anyway. If the deal happens, the fee won't exceed 75 mil. pounds.

For Ronaldo? we should have demanded more IMO.

I don't know if he does really to be honest, I think that might be a bit of a media construct. He'd still be the main man on the pitch surely, regardless of price tag. If he got shoved around to accommodate Gareth fecking Bale of all people he'd be rightfully pissed off but I can't see any manager in their right mind doing that.

'Of all people'? Really? I can think of a lot worse players than him to be fair.

Yeah agreed, much as I love Ronnie he's the kind of egotistical dickhead who would resent a player being bought for a higher fee than him. Especially given all the comparisons between Bale and Ronaldo, the latter just wouldn't get along with him, and wouldn't want to. That's to say nothing of his frustration when they continually run into each other on the pitch, because there's no way those two can play in the same team. They do the same thing, only Ronaldo does it much better.
