Gareth Bale retires | Begins his golf career next month

I don't even think Bale would be particularly good for them at this point. He'd score a few screamers and headers and be dangerous from free kicks but his legs were en route to Ronaldo town and his work rate isn't too dissimilar either.

I find it highly unlikely Ben Foster has any interest in playing a season of League Two football, I would be utterly shocked if Gareth Bale did

According to his own words he's really giving it a thought.

He likes attention.

Yeah I'm sure he'll play a whole season in League Two for attention. Also seems like one of best people in the footballing world, I believe he's genuine about his affection to Wrexham.

Aren’t pitches in L2 frozen or waterlogged 80 % of the season? This guy would break down instantly.

No, I mean I think he's not dismissing the idea because he likes being talked about, despite the fact he is not genuinely considering playing an entire season of League Two football.

Okay, doesn’t come across like that type of a guy to me so let’s disagree. Good to hear facts about him not considering it despite him saying it, from a source closer to him than himself.

Apologies, I did not realise going in to this you felt so strongly about Ben, I should've been more diplomatic in your presence.

Anyway, I think we agree Bale ain't doing it, so we are at best off topic.

No problem. Disagreeing with you on his personality definitely means I feel so strongly about him.

Let's hope for Wrexham's sake he's not. Don't think he has it in him anyway. He's a golfer who used to play football.

I think Foster might do it. The commercial hybrid of him and Wrexham could be a big moneypot for both. Depends how much he's willing to sacrifice other things for that.

Bale I can't see it. He has an affiliation with Wales but always felt like if he went to a club there it would be Cardiff and he didn't do that so think this is a non story.

Also, I could be wrong, I'm not Welsh myself, but I'd be surprised if a lad from the south had any particular affection for Wrexham to begin with.

Im sure Wrexham`s tv series or Ryan Reynolds huge social media following does not have anything to do with Ben Foster playing in Wrexham when beeing a Youtuber. :wenger:

That’s the thing. He was understandably pretty happy after retirement to finally catch up on being with the kids and all that. He might continue as long as he can more or less have the couple of days off in the beginning of the week.

Before his retirement he also flirted with the idea of playing in the MLS, so Wrexham’s US tour in the summer might be pretty tempting.

My guess right now would be that he won’t be back next season but who knows. Seemed to enjoy playing for them, which is not a surprise considering his history with them.

On his podcast or in an interview with an american channel, can't remember which, Foster said he got a quarter of a million new subscribers in the week after he saved that penalty.

Unlike bale or any other big name you could thing of, Ben Foster actually benefits from being involved with Wrexham, as well as seemingly enjoys the entire thing. I suspect that he also likes the potential connections he can make through the owners, because his future is obviously in media.

Which is why I think he will do it. I at least expect him to be on the pitch when we play them in the summer.
