I think that his criticism is over the top. He should be on the bench for Madrid based on that form, but he'd still be the best or around that player in the league if he comes here — form is temporary, class is permanent.

I expect a statemnet saying something to the effect of - I never quit and I want to fight for my place.

I did want him but not now. He has made it clear he doesn't want to play us. Which is fine, enjoy Madrid

Gareth better get his shit sorted. The electricity surrounding him could quickly fade.

I always found that bolded statement very peculiar and quite frankly wrong. So it truly always amazes me that people just repeat it. Is it because it sounds cool?

It completely disregards so many of the required components to putting in good performances. It's not just skill and form, it's mental state and physical condition too. The statement completely disregards physical decline due to age or injuries which is both permanent and (in the case of age) inevitable. Because otherwise we might as well bring back Cantona since class is permanent and he was undoubtedly class. I'm sure he can do a job at 50, no?

Bale's injuries seem to have taken his toll on him. He's either lost that blistering pace that used to make him unplayable or he's simply holding back for fear he'll pull up again. His technique, while good, does not alone compensate for that loss. And the icing on the cake is that he seems to have lost that hunger and passion he used to have. As the AS editor said, he seems to take things for granted and show little fight or passion these days.

He was supposed to be Ballon D'Or contender at this age as Ronaldo and Messi are aging, yet he's declined faster than both. Within Real Madrid alone Vazquez and Asensio are playing better than him and are more deserving of the RW spot. For someone who's still one of the top 5 earners in football that's a pretty bad position to be in. One that will very soon turn ugly for him at Real Madrid as fans there won't put up with it for long.

Yeah, I'll be honest, I'd love Bale at United, but his injuries, form for the past year or so (especially for Madrid) is worrying to the point where it's scary if you consider the financial outlay Madrid would want for him, plus his wages.

If Bale and Madrid would be willing to accept a reasonable amount (i.t.o. of fee and wages), it would be a decent gamble, but you just know neither party would, especially not Madrid to us, seemingly.

As for the bolded bit, I totally agree. He has a contract up to 2022 (as per a post above), at a mega wage and with the fans jeering him and players like Isco and Asensio being crowd favorites....nice situation for them!

Or else we'd literally just be funding their next big money transfer.
On top of all this, the guy has had multiple chances to come to us, but hasn't been interested - which is fine. I just wish we'd take the hint and just forget about him. Spending a huge amount of money in transfer fees plus wages for someone who'd only come because his dream team wants rid of him, doesn't sound like what we need.

If I were him, and wanted to stay at Madrid, I'd opt to have a lower salary and accept my place on the bench. Otherwise it will get toxic for him there. If he doesn't want to be a bit player, take a lower salary and go back to Spurs to be the main man. If he doesn't accept a compromise it will get really bad for him there I believe.

Anyway, let it be Madrid's problem:D

Is he still getting serious aggro back here though from the extended 'family'?

That would be good enough reason not to come back.

Just like Rooney's last years for us, eh?

I will be happy to see him as our player but he doesnt want to play for our shirt (maybe for him madrid shirt must feel better), so, I hope we wont bring him here. I still cant forget and forgive Di cnut Maria who didnt play with all of his heart for our team.

You're taking it too literally. The permanent class allows player to play great when he is in form; and when he is off form it doesn't necessarily mean that he is in decline. Form still matters, and Cantona will be completely out of form, so in this equation one element would be, say, zero.
Bale showed enough consistent class for us not to write him off because of his recent form.

Where are people getting the idea he's becoming rubbish from? Just done some research and since 2015/16 season He's scored 27 goals and got 16 assists in 45 la liga games

The worrying thing is the amount of matches he's missed through injury because his Goals/assists figures are still very good.
I don't even want us to sign him but he's not shite.

What he is though is a crock and someone who doesn't seem interested in joining us.

Sod him there are other players like Griezeman and Sanchez who would be better value for money. He's priced himself out with ridiculous Madrid wages and a complete disintrest in the Premier League and now he's Madrid's problem.

Not sure either but his last two years (in terms of fitness) do leave a questionmark or two over such a possibility, no?
I guess so, but Bale is Cristiano-like in his determination to be the best and to care about his body fitness as good as he can.

He does not want to be here so feck him.

Hoping we don't get involved. Leave him in Madrid.

hear, hear. fully agreed. late 20's, bunch of injuries and with physical prowess being his strengths, its only downhill from here. Plus, its not like he even wants to leave. Hope we steer clear.

Id take him but only on loan preferably a 2 year loan. RM would want a fee though and not just his wages off their books.

Its Real madrid , Would never let that happen specially when Man utd is on the other side.:D Not a chance. And Bale's wages are steep.
