Quite an outdated opinion. DoTA tournaments and multi million dollars prize money ensures video games are so much more than "entertainment". They are now e-sports, a far more serious genre of its own with a cult following of its own and will only get more so in future. It's time we recognize them as something more than entertainment.
Your opinion. Private forum, our structure

As these games thread pop up in at least four different forums, it makes sense to bring them all together into one.

It could be also easier to allow newbies to play, if you wish to do so.

Video games belong in the entertainment forum, it's not Reichstag science

If people remember music, video, game = entertainment
Not really, Gaming (or e-Gaming if that's what you prefer to call it) has really taken off since the Unreal Tournaments, Counter Strike etc. It's become a massive multi million (Maybe even Billion, I ain't no Finance guy) dollar enterprise. They have their own fan following and everything.

Don't think anyone is gonna be making a living from deciding which dead player from the 1760's was better.

It is still entertainment though. Movies and music have been multi billion dollar businesses before the video games existed, and they are still considered as entertainment.

Yeah, but Movies and Music appeal to most people in the world. Gaming on the hand is pretty much a niche and as such is followed by specific groups. It's only entertainment to them. The rest are totally clueless about it. Whereas Music and Movies are pretty much entertainment in one form or another to everyone.

You can't call it a multi-billion dollar industry one minute and niche the next!!

Erm, Ok. Either way, it doesn't really bother me. Those that are not a fan of these can just not open the thread. Not that hard to do really.
Oh I agree with that, I'm just saying the gaming industry has much larger revenue than the movie industry does.

Damn, you are right . They make twice as much as the movie industry it seems.

I can't tell if you're taking the rip?

and they can still hang out in the Entertainment forum like it has done for the last 7 years. There wont be any more forums added

we've been down that road before and it didn't work

But things constantly change at RedCafe. Promotions used to be much stricter, now it's almost a joke. Constant moaners were frequently pulled up, but now you are one of the biggest of the lot, granted results have gone downhill. I understand this is a private forum, but a lot of people contribute to it, there's no need to be rude.

You call me a moaner and then tell me not to be rude? Lol

Just stating fachts

It's a private forum, and in the private admin room we've discussed adding sub forums many times. The owner does not favour them.

If it annoys people seeing certain threads, is it possible to hide threads?

It may be too much effort for little gain, as I've not heard many, if any, complain that certain 'game' threads are clogging the general.

In the last Dota II tournament 5 guys won $6,634,661 between them. One of them was 16 years old and had just moved from Pakistan to the US. The rest were early 20's. It's a huge thing. Sponsorships, software and hardware companies jumping all over it, Monster are in on it etc. The tournaments are held in stadiums that are sold out and watched by literally millions online which has the PC hardware companies and Monster etc all over it knowing their sales will skyrocket. It's always been the cool thing to do to pass off 'nerdy' things as just that but being among the best in the world in video games and playing on a team with similar players, on a team that's sponsored by a load of other companies can earn you millions of dollars per year.

Whether they're more serious than entertainment or not, video game discussions fit just fine in the entertainment forum. It's mainly the football draft threads that need putting somewhere if the clutter is annoying people. Ideally, you should be capable of just ignoring them if you aren't interested. As we've seen recently though, some people would rather take the piss and ruin the game for everyone instead.

Yeah I only heard about that today. Tend to avoid draft threads. Don't think putting them in a sub-forum is the answer though, most of the clowns involved in that farce would just feck around in the games forum instead.

Well if the same lot keep doing it you can obviously tell them to stop. Or ban them from the sub forum. It's akin to people deciding to sabotage a WW game half way through, after all the players have invested a lot of time.

I don't know what this has got to do with a games sub forum on Redcafe though? And it's still not a sport.

My favourite part of these discussions is when people start denouncing things that aren't sports based on some random definition of sport that they seem to have made up. Usually involving the word 'proper'.

Wash your mouth out, it's not a sport dammit. How are you big Z?

How is sitting on your fat hole, stuffing pizza in your face whilst playing Xbox a sport?

No wonder the world has an obesity problem
