Games sub-forum

Do you class people who play games as normal?

It was discussed a few times previously but there's no real point. The general is the general and for general threads. Games fit into that, I'm not sure why anyone would get annoyed by certain threads existing, just don't open them. It has zero impact on anyone's life. The majority of the people playing these games are normal posters also.

I've developed the ability to totally overlook the Werewolf thread. Don't even notice it any more.

Maybe the 'Other Sports' subforum should get it's own tab, where WW, drafts, Gaming (PC, XBOX, Clash etc) can be redirected to.

None of those things are other sports.

The other sports forum is fine, stop trying to ruin it.

You know what I mean... Renaming it to Other Sports and Games or whatever....
It doesn't get much traffic anyways from what I've seen...

That would ruin it, it'd just be overrun with those games and the subforum as we know it now would die.

The 'Other Sports' forum is one of the safe havens of the caf, it can't be destroyed by WW etc.

I'd be up for games to have it's own sub-forum. Makes sense in a way.

Battletop then ?

I'm going to lend my support to the idea. I can see the merits

Don't really see your argument here, 'general' covers more or less everything, so you could make the same argument for having an Entertainment forum.

I think it'd be a good addition personally but also wouldn't be fussed either way. It would give a place for all the old game threads in there: Wheel of Fortune, CMO, WW, Draft threads etc. I imagine it would also encourage people to make more threads of the same ilk.

It being in the general doesn't dissuade anyone from creating a thread so I can't see that an entire forum would encourage people to make more.

To be honest with all the different things that are going on these days I think it could be worth it.

WW, drafts, fantasy football, fantasy NFL, fantasy F1 etc, online gaming groups like the GTA crew, the football manager league... There's plenty of these things dotted around.

Wasn't there a fantasy football forum a while back but it got shut down because no one ever used it?

If we'd had a games forum, I'm sure my Jenga challenge would have been met with more enthusiasm... Yup, definitely a case of the right thread, wrong forum

Why are those in the FF anyway?
It's basically a discussion about the football history? It can also be in the Entertaining forum, but traditionally it has been in FF.

Two of the biggest issues:
  1. iczster invented Games sub-forums and wouldn't allow us to infringe his copyright.
  2. Games sub-forum would only end up forgotten about like the Fantasy Football forum and the FCUM forum. Another site has a Games sub forum. Date of last post? March 2015.
For me things are fine as they are. Some of these game threads are the highlight of their particular forum. PS4/Xbone is entertainment so belongs in the EF. If a Games sub-forum were to be introduced, where would you stop?

To be fair, there are many subforums that should exist here before the subforum of an another football team, which is used only by 3 people.

Considering that there are a lot of e-games that are played here, I have no idea why that subforum doesn't exist.

iczster invented everything according to him, the arsehole. I guess it was meant as a tongue in cheek, but anyway, there are a lot of forums that have this kind of subforum.

I know. Many sites also use twitter but didn't stop icz claiming that we copied him and that he created the use of social media.

He can't do anything about it though. Bar looking like a bigger bitter fool.

I wouldn't mind putting all of those type of threads in a sub forum (and then setting fire to it).

Video games belong in the entertainment forum, it's not Reichstag science

If people remember music, video, game = entertainment

Quite an outdated opinion. DoTA tournaments and multi million dollars prize money ensures video games are so much more than "entertainment". They are now e-sports, a far more serious genre of its own with a cult following of its own and will only get more so in future. It's time we recognize them as something more than entertainment.

I don't think it's a big deal either way (as others have said, it's not hard to simply NOT open threads you aren't interested in), but sure - if it's not too much hassle to create such a sub-forum, then why not?

Seems like a load of draft stuff (now including basketball) is going on in the "other sports" section - and that could go in a new sub-forum along with the football draft stuff, the fantasy football stuff, and the WW (and similar) stuff. Might be enough...stuff...to justify such a sub-forum - but, again, I really don't think it's a big deal.

That's a stretch.
