Game 39: Croatia vs Portugal

This game has been boring. I've been switching between it and Glastonbury. I can't decide if this game is as bad as the last shadow puppets dress sense.

Crosses, crosses and more crosses

This is like "David Moyes presents Croatia vs Portugal"

Portugal and Spain had 17 wars against each other now if the ref was from Brazil or any Africa ex-colony then I would say you right
Well, if we want to go into it: the German unification was only achieved after Prussia defeated Austria; Belgium seceded from the Netherlands after a revolution and it led to armed conflict between the countries. So the parallels are there.

Makes me sad that international tournaments have ended up like this. Not sure if it's just notalgia but I'm sure they were much, much better when I was a kid.

When was the last time Ronaldo went half a game of football without a shot?

We've been poor, Portugals tactic of breaking up match ryhtm through little fouls works so far with ref not giving any yellow cards. Hope for better 2nd haf and Mandzukic off, we've been playing with 10 men because of his lazyness up-front.

At least I'm hearing Gomes' name every now and then though not for doing anything noteworthy, I'm yet to hear Joao Mario's name! Is he playing at all?

We had too many wars against them and until the 70's we couldn't trust them at all.

I've not seen Andre Gomes do anything useful this tournament.

Another subpar performance by him.

Very boring match só far. Reminds me of Paulo Bento's Portugal. Just hope we can reach the semi final again with shite football

Yawn.

We must beside a few entertaining matches on the trot soon? This one is like watching LVG's United against Moyes' United.

One of the reasons why I like UK was in 1974 when Portugal had a revolution and Franco was ready to invade the country to stop on our borders because UK remind them about the Anglo-Portuguese alliance.

Cool. I like little bits of information like this.

Agreed. Comparing this to our Euro2000 Campaign for example is painful. Fernando Santos is a nothing manager. Never won anything bar the Portuguese league with Porto which isn't an achievement at all.

Wasn't great for a neutral.
Not great but I thought it was decent. Obviously it's different when you're cheering badly for one team. It was miles better than this or Wales v NI.

The commentator on ESPN just declared this match as a snooze-fest. Can't blame him.

Sanches has been so uninspiring every time he's come on. This game needs some fizz!

Well, you had a bit more quality in your squad back then, too. And while painful to watch, so far it has been a pretty efficient approach. Ugly, but less embarassing then any of the group stage performances

Your game was good watch. Quite a few chances, a magnificent goal, and a penalty shooutout with an equally magnificent tosser from Xhaka to prove he's a real Arsenal player:)
NI vs Wales had a *watch at on your on peril, will induce serious brain damage*-sticker on it from the get go. Anyones own fault to waste his lifetime on that one.
