As for Obertan, I said it a while ago, he has had a decent education for a footballer

Indeed he is, the more I think about it - they are three really good signings, typically Manchester United. He's going to be very good for us, is Obertan.

oh cheers for the correction. do you pass GCSEs before or after A levels ?

GCSEs when you're 16, A-levels when you're 18.

Okay thanks, what I read is that the GCSEs level had curbed over the past years. If it is also the case for A levels where is the UK heading to ? :nervous:

As for Obertan he then has an A level in Literature which in France gives the utmost importance to foreign languages, hence Obertan's skills.

Basically the government are geniuses who have privatised exam boards. The more people take their exams, the more money they make. Guess what the easiest way to make more people do your exams is? That's right, make it easier than everyone else's. So basically they all compete every year to make it easier and easier and the government don't mind because they get to tell everyone that children are getting 3% cleverer every year.

In fact one exam board is owned by a publishing company (EdExcel) so it is not only in their interest to make it easier every year, it's also in their interest to change the syllabus every year so they can sell more textbooks.

There are 3% more 18 year-olds who get the A level every year ? That is preposterous.

edit - doesn't stop me from thinking studying in the UK is much better than in most places in Europe though!

On a completely unrelevant note...

Does anyone else get slightly annoyed when none of the players in training are wearing their own numbers on their training gear. Valencia and Owen even managed to put on the same fecking shirt. If I was a player at United I`m sure I`d be unpopular for always wanting to wear my own number.

Rant over.

No i couldnt give a flying feck.

I wonder how many out of every 100 british people speak decent french...

One, if it was a good group. It's one of the bonuses for conquering half the world and creating an uber cool empire, before giving it all back for the promise of one in ten bags of PG tips exported to the UK being free of charge. We got the best end of the bargain if you ask me

Just had a view of the press conference yesterday... Gabriel Obertan speaks excellent English! By the way, pretentious is a French word too (pretentieux), so it's all about knowing the English way to say it Gabriel to use it. But, all in all, I was delightfully surprised by his ease and relative command of the language...

Cue comparisons to Ronaldo and his use of the word "polemic".

Moreover the word "Page Rankingétentieux" is more used in French than "pretentious" is in English
Pointless post I know but I felt I had to say it

That's not the same thing though
