was awsome for the reserves.
linked up really good with diouf

Like Diouf this guy is a long shot to make it. I just don't think he's strong enough for the PL. He was cheap, so it was worth a gamble I guess.
The problem is he's struggled to replicate his form from the toulon tournament right before we signed him. We're yet to see the best of what he has to offer and of course that tournament was against other young players so I'm sure that helped with the physicality issue.
I think he has a good talent for running with the ball at pace and he makes sensible passes but the rest of his game doesnt look close to special. Still, with hard work and gradual development theres no reason he cant be as good a winger as the likes of Valencia or better. Its just going to take time and he isnt as talented as some of the other young wingers we've had in recent years.
Who are these "other young wingers"?
Who are these "other young wingers"?

So Ekeke's making the point that Obertan isn't as talented as Ronaldo?
Not as talented as someone who score 100 goals for us, en route to becoming the BPITW?
Well gee, you don't say...
What a stupid question.
Yes, I think Nani's talented.
He's also 4 years older than Obertan.

Obertan may end up just being a ball runner and a decent passer. Only time will tell. But when he came to us he needed huge work on his shooting and some improvement on his crossing. I havent seen much evidence to suggest he's improved in those areas.
How much have you seen of him? Cos to be fair to the lad you cannot really give the be all & end all opinion of him after 11 games for the club. So to say you've not really seen much evidence, isn't really a fair opinion for someone who has been at the club less than a year & making only a handful of appearances.
I saw barely any of him in France, but watched all his matches at the Toulon tournament in the summer where he was named most valuable player of the tournament and was quite happy when we signed him. Probably happier than most others as either they hadnt seen him yet or they were French and doubting he'd be a star for us because of a dissappointing season in Ligue 1 last time around.
I knew he needed a lot of work in some areas though. Particularly his finishing. I figured he was a good player and easily a lot of value for the small amount we paid for him
but it was Ljajic I was expecting to come over and be the true talent... Unfortunately thats not what happened.
My point was he's been at the club less than a year and had a few games, you don't need to bring out the bs line of "oh well he's not developed as i hoped". It takes a good few years for Fergies effect to come true on a player.
Move on.
Deserved his spot on the bench after a brilliant performance for the reserves.
Didn't happen for him today though. Poor performance.
No doubt this will be grist to the mill for the usual spastics who are determined to write him off.
Ho hum.
This is the caf John.People shouldn't expect too much of him this season, after all, he's coming off a major injury and is still working on his fitness. To write him off at this point is idiotic.
I'm not sure about this lad to be honest. He has tremendous skill, now and again, but the amount of times he gives the ball away is frightening.
Still really very young. Having talent is more important at this age, because the other areas can be developed in training.
He clearly needs to bulk up pronto.
He could come good alright. He has the skills and he has the ability. Personally I'm just not banking on him, that's all!!
I think it will be very hard for him to endear himself to a lot of United fans.
The only negative I see in him at the moment is he looks too much like Silvestre and lets just say I wasn't a big fan of Silvestre's looks. Also he was just bought for £2M so there won't be a lot of pressure for him to perform in the short term, which will certainly benefit him.
I didn't realise it was only 2m.

Before this spurt of form, Wayne Rooney gave the ball away more than a pushover child.
Not much I can say other than there's so much spastic in this thread my eyes burn of idiocracy... A month ago, it's all about Obertan > Nani and Valencia... Now, he's not even in a shout?
Where's Brwneds backtracking notes on people when you need them !?
Anyone in particular who is backtracking?
I can't be arsed to look but Brwned is usually the pro with these analysis'
Basically it's in general too, I hate a mate today call Obertan "Utter gash", where on his facebook profile he had a bloody picture of Obertan from earlier in the season.
Call a spade a spade. Obertans a good prospect with a lot of raw ability. He's clearly not ready yet, and playing him in a tough game does his development no favors. There is no harm in letting him bulk up with the reserves for the rest of the season and giving him another shot to stake his claim next year in some of the minor competitions.
