Gaa 2011

Anyone know a way I can get some of the GAA games in England?
Dad's from Kildare and it'd be great if I could find away to let him watch the games.

I watched the Mayo Kerry game from Argentina last week on a stream on myp2p. Good quality stream with all the RTE commentary. Only one Irish pub in South America show live games, and they stream from myp2p too.

Well, I think the RTE website shows the final worldwide. The rest of the Championship fixtures are for people in the RoI only. There's always the normal streaming sites on the 'net as well.

And it might sound like an obvious question, but have you tried heading down to your local Irish pub to watch the games? I'd say the vast majority of Irish pubs screen Championship fixtures.

Might try using a proxy on the RTE Site then. Hopefully that might work.

Unfortunately there's nothing in the way of Irish Pubs around my dad's area without heading into London which is a pain in the arse.

Come on Irwin, surely a small part of you wants us hammered by Kerry?

Nope, I am a pure Ulsterman and would be 100% behind any Ulster team (not derry) left in the championship after we go out.

Also my Da's from Lifford so I'm half Donegal.

You boy's better not Boo Donegal or your gonna have my Da to answer to.

Thank God, Dublin have stuffed Donegals puke football down the drain.

Can you imagine what the final would have been like with Donegal in it, they are the most negative team I've ever seen.

So do you like Donegal's (ahem) style of play?

That was like watching a team of brickies building a wall very very slowly. There is no place in gaelic football for negative shite like that.

Donegal can't even walk away from that with pride, an extra man and they still try and play it sideways and backwards, horrible to watch and yer man throwing himself on the deck to get Connolly sent off is nothing but a cheat.

Dublin 1-0 Puke Football

Christ, that was ugly stuff with both teams contributing to a fairly awful spectacle.

Donegal- unsurprisingly, their first intention was to stop Dublin playing by bringing virtually everyone back behind the ball and scrapping away from there. Even when Dublin were down to 14 and Donegal needed the scores they still had only one man up front! It was laughable.

Dublin- in the 1st half they did exactly what Donegal wanted them to do by carrying the ball into defenders and then invariably losing possession. Their kick passing was fecking atrocious because they were trying to replicate what had worked so well against Tyrone i.e. diagonal ball into forwards who were one-on-one with their markers...except this time they weren't one-on-one, they had to bypass a blanket defence who were using a sweeper!

But anyway, they sorted themselves out and showed serious grit to overcome the sending off and Donegal's tactics (which weren't limited to suffocating the life out of the game, they also delayed the game on numerous occasions), so congrats to Dublin.

Can't wait for the final!

They didn't want to play and we couldn't play. It was like a cross between It's A Knockout and Parish Week. 3 points in 25 minutes seems like the stuff of dreams at this point. Worst game I've ever witnessed. Having all but one of your players in your own half while in possession should be made a technical foul.

I am yet to see United so I'll work at downloading that and return to this tomorrow.

Your poor Da.

I didn't boo though, although one or two of the Drogba style shenanigans did get my appraisal.

Did'nt see yesterday's game due to an alternative classic sporting event on Sky sports.... from what I hear & read, twas dreadful stuff. . . Dubs & Utd both win with 8 scores!

I stand corrected, but I believe this will be the 1st final between Dubs & Kerry since 1985... the top 2 Sam winners of all time. The HYPE will definitely be brought to a new level.

With all due respect to Kerry, I hope the Jackeens go on & win it!...... would be good for the game!

Yep, its their first meeting in the final since 1985, I was at that game, Kerry got of to a flyer, Joe McNally got 2 late goals to bring a bit of respectability to the final score.

You must be the only one outside of Dublin that thinks like that. Thats like saying if Liverpool won the Prem it would be good for the game - no it bloody well wouldnt!

The Gaa doesnt rely on Dublin ffs - there's 31 other Counties that support the Gaa, Dublin arent the feckin saviours. Jesus Christ man grow some will ya!

The GAA relies hugely on Dublin. They create an enormous amount of revenue for the GAA during the Championship and the league, far more than any other county.

And Stuff the Goat wouldn't be the only person from outside Dublin to think that...Colm O'Rourke (a Meath man) made a similar point after the match yesterday on RTE.

And that's despite hating us almost as much as RHD does.

I met a chap while out walking the dog last night when I got back west and he said he's never heard anyone in his mothers house cheering for Dublin until that day. He said that Donegal had turned the whole country into Dublin fans - I knew he didn't know RHD.

No one wants to watch that fecking shite. Some Donegal fans were moaning yesterday about the criticism they were getting, but if you won't even attack when you're losing by 2 points then you deserve the criticism.

It was like Tyrone in 2003 x 10.

Typical northerners. They always try suck the fun out of everything.

They're just so, so, Protestant.

Like it or not RHD, but nobody brings atmosphere & colour to the games, as well as money into GAA coffers like the Dubs!

Since the great Dublin team of the 70's won their last All-Ireland in '77 (34 years ago), Dublin have won 2 titles ('83 & '95). Kerry have won 14 since!........ Now, would'nt a change be nice & indeed good for the game!

Ps; you are totally wrong to compare "liking" Dubs akin to "liking" Liverpool FC.!:nono:...... I, probably being similar to 99%+ on this forum, do NOT "like" Liverpool FC..... Nor am I saying that I love the Dubs, but I have absolutely nothing against them!;)

Everytime Kilkenny have being beaten by a team they have come back & beaten that team in the next fixture between the two. An interesting stat to say the least.

I was glad to see Diarmuid Connolly given the green light to play in the All-Ireland final.

I wonder if Paul Galvin would have been treated in the same way, though?

Hypothetical self pity, arguably the 'best' kind.

I'm amazed they let him play to be honest.

I'll give you a shout on here on the days approaching and see if it's workable. btw I just ran up and down the stairs twice, humming The Eye of The Tiger.

That's good.

You might as well enjoy the use of your legs now while you still can.

I'm talking about reaching finals 9 in total, a fair achievement in itself especially at U21 level.

At minor level Galway have reached 10 finals in the last 15 years winning 5. Galway are in the final again this year.

A Galway Club contested 15 out of the last 15 All Ireland Senior Club Championship finals as well, winning 7.

Its a mystery to all in Galway how an All-Ireland senior Championship wasn't won since 1988.

I can add another U21 & Minor All-Ireland title to the above, both beat the up & coming Dubs in both finals.

Best of luck to all the Dublin faithful for the game on Sunday & apologies for all my ranting since you gave us a whooping, i've calmed down quite a bit now after a welcome hol in the Canaries (fecking heat tho was mental - for us Irish folk anyway).

Hope its a good game - which i'm sure it will & may the best team win. Just hope most of you got tickets as i know many Dublin club members didnt even get a sniff, as clubs around the Country were keeping them & sellin them, some on Ebay for €2000 for a pair - which is a disgrace, when good Gaa fans that really want to go & go to all the games cant go the biggest game for them in 16 years.

Best of luck to Kerry aswell - Lem8ish is a Kerry fan, so best of luck to him also & again, sorry for all the ranting :)

Its actually gas the way the GAA are "trying " to be seen as sympathetic to fans regarding the touting of tickets that they are responsible for distributing in the first place.
Somehow I don't think they'll take any action against the club officials making a mint selling "their" allocation on e-bay.

Well done to Donedeal.ie for removing adds for ALL-IRELAND tickets priced over face value.
