G.A.A...Hurling & Football Championships !

Monaghan did very well today but the dublin vs kerry game should be a cracker!

the scare your lads got today Keano won't do them any harm

30 years :nervous:
Kerry have a huge psychological advantage over Dublin

they are also the reigning champions

Monaghan sniffed blood today but couldn't wolf it down

Kerry's experience and composure when under the cosh was commendable

very hard luck to Monaghan

To be honest, I wouldn't have minded getting a draw today, and getting another match under our belts.....still though, we got through it, tough and all as it was. The second half was shite for the spectator, and double headers are a pain in the hole in any case.

It'll be a great occasion - the last one in 2004 was a bit of walkover for Kerry, but Dublin have improved a lot since then. The Kerry forwards won't play as badly again as they did today, but the Dublin forwards are the ones in form....high scoring classic on the way IMO.

I was in Croker yesterday, I must say I'm gutted we (Monaghan) lost. However we proved we can mix it with the big boy's.:(

Monaghan will be back to Croker soon

they've had a very good championship for a team that weren't really fancied

they'll be even more difficult to beat next year

that was a turn up for the books, the ease with which Cork beat Meath

wonder how those nice Meath supporters who ripped down and pissed on Dublin flags in the vicinity of Croke Pary after their quarter-final win now feel :smirk:

one of the few bits of good news today was the Cork result. so, the hurlers couldn't get it done but the footballers get to the All Ireland again. at least so says my Ma. but she's from Kilkenny so I'm not sure....

congratulations to Kerry

I'm sick big time as you may imagine, what do we have to do to beat these lads in a championship match ?

Dublin gave every ounce within them today but Kerry had that extra bit of class and composure which saw them through

best of luck to Kerry in the final

Good match alright, I thought Dublin were very impressive. We had the so-called 'extra gear' though. Dublin hadn't a drop left at the end, they spent everything, but we were very composed at the end, even though Dublin had their chances and could've forced a replay. I thought Star Donaghy was fantastic today playing out the field.

Cork are a very difficult team to beat, even though we manage it quite a lot. Kerry have to treat this as an All-Ireland Final, not just another match against Cork. They have an excellent team and will be rabid to beat Kerry - like Dublin were today. God be with the days when all of our All-Irelands were 'soft'.

I am fed up to the back teeth of Kerry. I think half the country (outside the pale) want to see Dublin win it.

Hope Pillar and the backroom team stay on and give it another go. They and the Dublin fans (which I am not one) certainly bring something extra to the Gaa.

I also hate the Fact that Kerry & Cork never travel up to Croke Park unless its a Final. Their County proclaimed to sell 15,000 tickets but everyone know over 8,000 of these went into Dublin fans. They might be good at football but their fans are one of the most complacent in the country. You can say what you want about Armagh, Tyrone but their fans would travel to the middle of nowhere for an u-12 county match

I think it's terrible that Cork have to go to Dublin at all when it's not an All-Ireland final. They were up there playing when Thurles would be a much better venue, location wise.

feckin GAA.

The Kerry support is peculiar, but not complacent - whatever else they are, they aren't that. There's no bandwagon jumpers amongst the support see....and it's a long way away.

Kilkenny were far too strong really - very classy looking. Limerick were never really in it after Kilkenny blitzed them at the start. Kilkenny motored on well and are deserving champions.....I think they're tied with Cork in total victories now.

tied on 30 each, at least according to my Ma and she's from Kilkenny. I'd always root for the cats over anyone else, 'cept Cork of course.

congrats to Kilkenny.

My Ma is looking forward to next year already so they can eclipse Cork. she says that Kilkenny have a younger side than Cork so that bodes well for them.

if I was a yank I'd probably say that Kilkenny are awesome..........they are awesome

was hoping to see Limerick pull off a shock but as Keaney said, that opening 2 goal blitz killed off the game

30 each now with Cork, I think Tipp have a fair few as well

An awful match today, nevermind the fact that it was over after 10 minutes, but it was the poor striking and continual basic mistakes that made it an awful game.
I Feel for Limerick but they were so inferior to Kilkenny it was not right.

Some performance last week by Kerry( v Dubs), DEADLY, is the best way to describethe Kingdom! Obviously hot favs to beat Cork...... but I have this sneaky feeling Cork have been in the "long grass" all summer & are primed for a sensational revenge !

Well done to CATS today, even thouh was rootin for the LIMS, like most neutrals were.... THOSE CATS ARE SOME TEAM !

Jasus, that was some feckin dissappointment, yet another final that turns out to be a no contest.
Kerry won't mind though and seeing the decline of the Ulster teams this year this team might go on to win 3 or 4 in a row..

Cork will be sick over that. Billy Morgan was talking afterwards and said that they were a better team than that, and I think he's right.

Well done to the lads though. This was actually very good championship for Kerry. Losing Fitzmaurice, Moynihan and McCarthy, a poor enough league, as well as having a new management team with their hands full with Dr. Crokes, blooding in a few new youngsters and a very very inactive few months in the middle of the championship, all of that was working against them this year so I'd say this one was very well earned.

Gooch is unbelieveable, one of the greatest ever in fact....Donaghy is also an incredible footballer.

Dinner, man of the match, recption in Tralee + Killarney, a holiday abroad, let the few lads retire, and then back slogging for No.36.

Fantastic team.

agree with you mate, they are a truly fantastic team

Gooch is the supreme Gaelic footballer

Donaghy swivelled better than Drogba for his second

Cork were poor to be honest, personally I don't rate them at all, they sometimes give your boys a run for their money but its a "derby" match at the end of the day

their goalie is brutal

Good spot Nialler........Donaghy was quoted in today's Star, saying "he turned as good as Drogba"! ;) ... congrats to the Kingdom, truly one of the greats of GAA.

Bit of a walkover yesterday. Kerry just blew them away at the start of the second half. Has there ever been easier goals given away in an All Ireland final than those Cork gave away yesterday?? Certainly the second two were gifts, and the keeper shouldnt have come anywhere near where he was for the first one. Though fair play to Gooch he still had to get it past him.

is it true that the Kerry manager Pat O'Shea has to stand down as manager, why ?

seems a shame considering

I believe that's technically true, but whether or not it happens is another thing.

I'm not fully clued in on the politics of it, but apparantly he was only allowed to take the job for one year due to some coaching work he does for the Munster Council.

It seems unbelieveable that they'll stop him if he wants to carry on.
