G.A.A...Hurling & Football Championships !

I thought Cork were robbed!.... that was a definite peno in the last few minutes. Surely when the ball did'nt end up in the net, the Ref. should have blown for the peno. I know some will interpret it as advantage, but the Forward was being fouled while in the motion of kicking the ball !...... Anyway, I thought Kerry were quite impressive. If cork had have won yesterday, I would have fancied them to go all the way, however, I d'ont fancy them via the backdoor. I just feel their hearts would not be fully in it !

The Leinster Hurling final has now joined the ranks of the "Ulster " & "Connacht"(recently defunct) Hurling Finals, as being farces !....... No fault to K'kenny, but Leinster will have to act fast, otherwise a once great spectacle will become unretrieveable !:(

A great & impressive win over Derry, for my own county (Monaghan).......Though Tyrone will be everybody's fav to win Ulster, I really fancy us to do 'em !....Come on the "barmey Farney Army " !

I managed to get up to the game. I'm actually from Belfast but my dad is from derry so I wanted them to win. The match was awful to watch but monaghan deserved to win and I actually would like to see them win ulster! So good luck!:)

Cheers *Clare* !..... just got my Ulster final tckt from ticketmaster...€23 (inc. fees), in fairness a very reasonable price !.... Well done to the much maligned Ulster council!

Delighted with the Derry result today, it certainly was a turn up for the books, bring on Mayo. Also a good result for Sligo, another unexpected result.

fantastic wins for Derry and Sligo

Is that Armagh fecked so...the great era over and all that. If there was a transfer market, I'd break the bank for Ronan Clarke, the rest of them are past it now. No more throwing the losers medal up against the wall.

Dublin certainly upped their performance today with a good 3-14 to 1-14 win against Laois to retain their Leinster crown

their path to the All-Ireland final though is as tough as it gets with a probable meeting with Cork in the quarters and should they win that match they will almost certainly face Kerry in the semi's

I think they can do it

Who are Kerry due to meet in the quarters? Just looking around the teams left, the only side that I'd really have any bothers about is Tyrone. Sure, if you catch a Dublin or a Derry on their best day, you could be beaten, but on the face of it, there hasn't really been a stand-out performance by anyone yet, maybe Tyrone over Donegal...it hasn't come to life yet really. Maybe for Dublin it has.

I don't know who yis are up against in the quarters but yis are on a collision course with the Dubs en route to the final should both progress with Tyrone being the probable final opposition for the semi-final victors

the championship certainly did come to life today for Dublin, I was impressed with the hunger the lads showed and if they can maintain that hunger and keep their composure they have as good a set of players as any of the fancied teams left to win Sam

its all in the mind now

even though it always is

losing the run of yourself a bit there.....but having won Leinster, I suppose you're entitled to be optimistic!

Having Dublin, and then possibly Tyrone as opponents pleases me greatly.

No offence to Donegal or Sligo or whoever....but feck it, the big games, the big crowds, the hard questions on sunny days when the crowd are baying....that's what it's all about. ....God willing we'll get another shot at Tyrone in a big game at Croker.

Poor Joe fell on his sword I see....it was time to go alright, really he should have gone after the Kerry match last year, but he thought there might have been one last kick in them....there wasn't. Fair play to him though, he achieved a lot and the Armagh camp was always that bit more likeable that the Tyrone camp.

I liked aul Joe so I did and I thoroughly agree with your comment that Armagh are more likeable than Tyrone

Many, many moons ago.....aprox. 1980, I was hitching/thumbing a lift.... who stopped & gave me a lift!...... Big Joe, (at the time, he was one of the most recognizable players, come All-Star!)......... Top man, no "airs & graces". I instantly recognized him & had a great chat about GAA, for the journeys lenght.
It just shows what a humble & "down-to-earth" character he is!
Sad to see such a gentleman go!.....I suppose "every dog has it's day"!
Thank you big Joe!

Good win for Meath versus Galway today, they're improving and not nice to play against

Cork certainly didn't have it all their own way against Louth, what will cork be like up against harder opposition ?

I think Cork will be fine. They're the dark horses that no one wants....Meath are probably the same now as well.

All these games being played, serious hard matches, good teams, tight results.....Kerry have played one match, a narrow win over Cork a month ago, and a training run out against Waterford. Some years it works for you...but I'd say by the time we play our next match, we'll play a good team drilled in about 6/7 championship matches.

dodgy free for waterford in the last minute. if i was more suspicious, i might think the ref was looking to end the game as a draw so there'd be a replay. then the GAA would make more money from having a sold our semple stadium or somewhere next week for the replay.

SFC Quarter-final Draw:
Sligo v Cork
Tyrone v Meath
Dublin v Derry
Kerry v Monaghan

seems the big guns have been left apart

Cork, Tyrone, Dublin and Kerry for the semis I'd imagine but you never know
Cork are certainties to beat Sligo, the other three games will be slightly closer

Another good win for Monaghan against Donegal but they've got a very tough draw against Kerry now. I was absolutley delighted to see Derry beat Laois but also have a very tough game against the Dubs which certainly won't be easy with a full house at Croke. the Tyrone and Meath match should be interesting but I think Cork will have too much for Sligo.

It was a definite free - Cusack smothered up the ball hoping for a throw in. They are not often given against the player but it was 100% the correct decision.
Great game and hard to call the replay but neither will beat the cats in any case..

fecking, come on you yellowbellies !! Been alternating Wexford jerseys since the match. Seriously ;)

KKenny (Leinster) vs Galway (Connacht)
Wexford (Leinster) vs Tipp (Munster)

Who won both matches ?! fecking Leinster. Have that ! ;) Although, I'd have preffered Galway to fecking stuff them by 20 points...;)

Sounds like someones afraid of getting beat again. ;)

Should be a walk in the park for Kilkenny Sunday, yellowbellies should stick to picking strawberrys.;)

excellent win for an improving Meath team against a tired looking Tyrone

Cork whom Meath will face in the semi-final again looked very pedestrian against a weak Sligo side

Cork always give Kerry a run for their money in Munster, its a Derby game after-all, yet since the qualifiers were introduced they have flattered to deceive outside of their province

I would back Meath to reach the final at this stage

bad news for Cork what with Masters missing the rest of the championship

Meath should really win the semi now unless of course they get carried away with themselves

Anyone heading to Croker tomorrow?

I was there for the derry dublin game. It was a very entertaining game but disappointed with the result. Some of the decisions the referee made I thought were a joke but in the end derry didn't take their chances and should have scored at least one goal.
