a Farney man in Galway, next stop America.
Well they're off !....... time goes so quick!... it seems like it was only a few weeks ago that we were posting about same topic last year.

Any predictions out there ?...well, here's my two-cents worth !

Football;
Well, as every year I alway's say, "watch out" for my native county, (as an outside bet especially in Ulster)... Monaghan:) ..... I really believe they can at least get to an Ulster final....But Donegal must be favourites!

Inside sources tell me Galway are ready to topple Mayo & go on to win Connacht !...... ( this forecast could be beaten within a week!:nervous:)

Dublin have to be very hot in Leinster, Meath & Kildare are starting on "the up" again, especially Kildare...... but Longford could surprise quite a few( most notably Laois)

Munster....kerry or Cork !... Toss a coin, it falls for Cork !

So for the all-Ireland.....Donegal,hesitantly over Dublin...... Best outside bet...Galway !

Hurling;
Munster....... has to be Cork or Waterford, again a toss-up!... Decies to nick it !

Leinster.. ...Kilkenny

Ulster.... Antrim.. & then the end of their road !.......(ps; would love to see them win All-Ireland some day!).

All-Ireland
.....At times Cork & Kilkenny look unsurmountable.....but I'm really convinced Ger Loughnane has something up his sleeve in Galway! ...If Waterford can win Munster, they will have the momentum/confidence to go on & add the McCarthy cup to their Lge. title....But I do feel, if they are to win the McCarthy, it MUST be via the "frontdoor"!
So I go for Waterford, with Galway lurking close by ! (No apologies to traditionalists!.. a change would be lovely! ).

Or how about a Chancers bet..... A Galway double( football & hurling) !:p

Anyway.....enjoy !....'tis great to have the "Gaa", to kill time till the soccer returns !

I bet Dublin end up in the All-Ireland semi's, again. And the media hype has everyone thinking they'll win it, again. And then they lose easily, again.

Dublin are the England of the G.A.A there hyped up by the media but when it comes to the crunch there really shit!!

As a Kilkenny man i couldnt give a flying feck about the football, a whole lot of pulling and draging as far as i can see.
Hopefully Kilkenny will have the hunger to see of all pretenders in the hurling again,

more of the same i say.
GO ON THE CATS!!!

Yeah, ye've probably got another year winning it before it switches back to us in Cork for a couple of years ;)

Forgot to add my 2 pence worth.

All Ireland winners Football - Kerry -
All Ireland Winners Hurlers - Waterford

BTW THat us my beloved Westmeath fecked. We lost last week.

What are the average crowds for these games?

I know the All-Ireland final usually sells-out Croke Park, but what about the less important matches?

All games are important MR.

You'd be looking at 15 -16 Thousand at an average game involving the weaker teams, while you will get 40k at the large one, with a full house of 80k for Dublin play.

Crowds were up until last year I think. Seems to be too many games and they have rectified that this year

Attdn yeterday, that I have info on are; Galway v Mayo 25,000.......2 games/double-header in Croke pk 35,000.
Tyrone v Fermanagh 20,000 aprox.

The attendances tend to get bigger as the Championship hots up .

ps; When the Dubs play a championship game in Croke pk, it usually is a "full-house."

2 crackers today, inc. the start of the "sliothar" game.
I've always loved the Armagh attitude ( despite others hating it), but I feel their demise will be confirmed by a fast emerging Donegal.

The hurling will be a lot closer than people think !.... Clare could cause a mild shock, but I think this Cork team will be gunning for one more crack at the big 'un !

A cracking draw between Dubs & Meath yesterday. Ref gave a few lucky decisions to Dubs that would havemade abig difference on the scoreboard. However, G Geraghty was lucky to stay on the field.
One thing I always say I will do, but somehow never do, is back most reasonably evenly matched games to end in a draw. The odds are generally from 6/1 to 15/2...... 3 draws so far, hmmm!

Dublin were poor enough yesterday and did have a few decisions go their way but having said that Meaths goalie made some cracking saves to keep them in it and of course Geraghty was lucky to stay on the pitch, overall a cracking game. I'd expect the Dubs to clinch the replay, they were caught a bit cold yesterday not having played a competitive match in 8 weeks or so. Colm Coyle is a stalwart from the Dublin/Meath rivalry which was rekindled in the early 80's and continues to this day and deserves great credit for the way his team were prepared yesterday.

R.I.P. Eamon Coleman.

This weekend:

Hurling:

Tipp v. Limerick.......verdict: Limerick.
Cork v. Waterford....verdict: Waterford

Football:

Dublin v. Meath.....verdict: Dublin, just.
Donegal v. Tyrone..verdict: Donegal
Louth v. Wexford....verdict: Wexford
Roscommon v. Sligo...verdict: Roscommon

that was some win for Tyrone, they destroyed a team that many had predicted would go close this year, definitely on the up again this year are Tyrone

Wouldn't mind another crack at them

they seem to have a bit of a cycle going, won sam then lost sam, won sam then lost sam, hopefully it will be another losing year for them but I wouldn't be too sure

Thank the Good Lord.

Longford in the qualifiers - If we ever needed to lift our game - now we can

The Dublin / Offaly game was bleedin well brutal, Offaly were shite and Dublin seemed to be just going through the motions like it was a challenge match. The referree was atrocious as well.
Great win for Limerick in the hurling.

Football Qualifiers:

Limerick v Louth
Fermanagh v Loser of Laois/Wexford
Leitrim v Donegal
Mayo v Cavan
Down v Meath
Roscommon v Kildare
Westmeath v Longford
Armagh v Derry

Predictions:
Limerick, Fermanagh (to beat Wexford), Donegal, Mayo, Meath, Kildare, jaysus...too close to call - and only in it 'til the next round anyway, Armagh.

Repeat of the 91 final. Though I dont think it will be the same result. We're fecked!

I'd go with

Limerick
Fermanagh
Donegal
Mayo
Meath
Kildare
Westmeath
Armagh

Good tussle in Killarney today.

People underestimate Cork sometimes, but if they were in Leinster or Connaught this year, they'd win it.

No dice today though, Kerry too good.

I doubt they'd beat the Dubs in Leinster mate although there wouldn't be much in it.

Obviously a team to avoid in the qualifiers

Didn't see the Munster final, was it a good match?

Good match alright, Kerry went 6 up after about 10 mins into the second half, playing with the wind and it looked all over, but Cork got a goal and came back at them. Great long-ranger by Donaghy at the end though.

Cork don't have a great record in Croke Park of late (they always play Kerry), but I think they'd have the Dubs. Nobody wants Cork in the qualifiers.
