That fight was never going twelve rounds. It shouldn't have been stopped but it was quite clear just before the stoppage that Groves was struggling and taking some big hits. Come on now, it was the wrong decision as said by IBF, Carls belt people, and all that stands is that Groves was better 90% of the fight as well as put him on his arse. Anything else, for either fighter is just pure speculation.
All these Nostradamus people on Froch's side seem to over exaggerate the so called trouble Carl had him in. Anyone would would think Groves wasn't allowed any bad time/rounds as well.
