he'll probably just be mad that Frenkie is joining usI wonder what Louis van Gaal thinks of Barcelona's treatment of de Jong. He's so bitter everytime he talks about us. What about his beloved Barcelona?

Well, that's the key bit of leverage they have in this situation. Let's assume they desperately need the €80m (which I think they do) then they'll do anything to get rid.He isn’t jeopardising anything. Barca won’t let him rot in the reserves, that’s a fantasy that people on here have cooked up. And even if he gets limited game time he’s one of LVG’s favourites, nothing is stopping him playing for Netherlands.
Sure but you have to suspect a portion of our fee will go to clearing that. Are you saying you believe he's genuinely up for the move but just playing hardball to get his cash?
At this point if FDJ doesn’t realise his future isn’t in barcelona you have to worry for him a bit.
I do wonder whether he will take quite a while to get his head sorted?
I hope it sets into him soon, as a player and a person he doesn’t deserve this treatment
He’ll 100% play for both Barca and CountryWell, that's the key bit of leverage they have in this situation. Let's assume they desperately need the €80m (which I think they do) then they'll do anything to get rid.
I also think it's naive to assume he'd play in a World Cup without first team football for 4 months tbh.

I think youre confusing him with the Dutch embassy.I wonder what Jordi Cruyff thinks now of the club he works for and his boss Laporta being so disrespectful towards his fellow countryman ?
Why do you assume that when we have a history of itSpanish outlets are click baiting United fans at this point. I’d do the same if I ran these outlets.
There’s no way we’d get this invested as a club if we didn’t have assurances from the player.
Relax
Will footballers ever stop dreaming of Barca and Real? They're always number 1 for 90% of Euro players.
Erm...

Put yourself in Barca's shoes for a minute. You HAVE to sell this guy to register new players, keep functioning etc. What other card do you play except threaten to dump him? He has a contract, so you have to make him think his career will be set back. He’ll 100% play for both Barca and Country
Well, to be fair you are a bit weird.
De Jong and winding road.
Its gone on this long that some of this shit is going to stick and the perception will be, if he joins, that he never wanted to come to United. Its not exactly endearing to the fan base is it?
Maybe he is, but he OUR weirdo.Well, to be fair you are a bit weird.

Poor fella. Gets engaged over the summer but looks like he is heading towards a divorce professionally a few weeks later.
Damn but how bad must it feel that a top player is having to literally be dragged away from his club to join us. Should light a fire under the arses of the players. United needs to be desirable again.
Surely when he signed the contract extension and debt repayment structure FDJ representatives included a clause that if Barca suddenly sold him that didn't cancelled the money he is owed. I would find this naive on FDJ teams part.Tons of articles have stated this. The total he deferred was 17M and he also extended his deal by 2 years so that they could pay him back over the next 4 years. Barca are trying to sell him and have been doing so all summer regardless of what they have said publicly and their stance is that as the money was pushed into future years on his contract they should not have to pay it if he leaves. His stance quite understandably has been that he agreed to that in good faith that he would remain at the club for the duration of the contract and be paid back and so if they are trying to push him out of the door they need to pay him the wages deferred. This is pretty good article that sums up how they have behaved, Raphina really should read this.
The Barcelona offer to Frenkie de Jong is an insult to both the player and the game (football365.com)
Are FDJ and Donny good friends?
He's a world class player when on form and is arguably Netherlands most important player. He plays no matter what.Well, that's the key bit of leverage they have in this situation. Let's assume they desperately need the €80m (which I think they do) then they'll do anything to get rid.

What a rebel. We're not allowed to say this apparently. I said it and hurt Muppet feelings.
Pogba at his best was a quality player. But they are different. Pogba was best in the opposing half, not being the first to pick the ball up from the defence and initiate play. Pogba wants time on the ball and has never been a press resistant player. Meant he was more likely to struggle in the premier league. Pogba was never a deep "controller", not someone who dictated the tempo just knows when and where to play it to progress the ball. Pogba always loved looking for the killer passes, not necessarily being the build up guy. His movement was not that of a natural deep playmaker.So... the Dutch Pogba?
I'd sooner believe some internet weirdo (no offence) than Sport if this transfer saga is anything to go by
Can I have this guy banned please mods.
Well, to be fair you are a bit weird.
Are there any leaks/stories suggesting FDJ is just waiting for the deferred payment settlement before moving to United or are people here just choosing to believe that because it suites our narrative? This is really turning out to be one of the most bizarre transfers in recent history.
Why do you assume that when we have a history of it
I reckon we need to hit the plan B button if they are still fekking about by Monday. Otherwise we might get left with McFred again. If you give a deadline then you have to mean it or nobody will take you seriously.
Why do you assume that when we have a history of it
We don't pay the whole fee up front. Barcelona would need the up front amount for Lewandowski and Raphinha deal. The sum of those 2 deal would be more than the supposed fee they would acquire by selling FdJ. It's reasonable to assume that our upfront payment would be used toward as the upfront payment toward those transfers.Sure but you have to suspect a portion of our fee will go to clearing that. Are you saying you believe he's genuinely up for the move but just playing hardball to get his cash?
This! This! This! Agree 100% - I'm not sure I want a player that is not dreaming about playing here. Maybe I'm wrong and it's only part of business but still - it's just getting a little bit rotten.So... the Dutch Pogba?
I’m not sure he wants to join us.
It would be ridiculous if that's not the case.Do we think he's made it clear to you "I'll join but not until these fecks give me my money". That genuinely feels very possible to me.
If he was really not interested in moving, he'd have let you guys know not to bother. Right?
